Save The Stables Open Day

2015-08-08 17:17:56

At a loss for something to do tomorrow?

Newmarket Stables in conjunction with The Stables Lifestyle Market are hosting an Open Day and you're all invited.

Park in Jacko Jackson Drive and meander through the many stores the Lifestyle Market has to offer.

Once you've got your fill and spoils, join us at the stable yard where you'll have the chance to meet the school ponies, take a walk around the yard on a guided tour, see some of our riders in action and go for a pony ride and don't forget to feed the ponies some carrots.

The weather looks good...so join us for a morning of fun, grab some food from the many food stalls and picnic on the fields.

Gates open at 10am.

Looking forward to seeing you.

Any enquiries can be directed to

Durban City Manager Is A Kept Man....

2015-08-04 02:56:00

Representatives of both Newmarket Stables and The Stables  Lifestyle Market,  met with the Ethekweni City Manager on Monday 03rd August,  in a last attempt to discuss a way forward before litigation.

The meeting could be described as the boxing bout we all woke up in the middle of the night to watch, between Floyd Mayweather and Manni Pacquiao...

We had Sithole on the ropes, we had him on the back foot, we posed questions to him that he just could not answer, be it because he refused to or because he would have to first ask the permission or comment from a company, Hoy Park Management Pty Ltd,  who, at this point in time, does not hold legal mandate to make decisions. How, you ask? We don't quite know either.

Obviously we put pressure on Mr Sithole as in typical South African tradition; our contingent was accused of being "too white" (there were only 2 white representatives there, the rest was all colour, not to mention he was 45 minutes late to tge meeting, showing a complete disrespect towards us and our quest.

We gently reminded him that this matter has absolutely nothing to do with politics, race or religion. It has everything to do with a sport, which has, in our yard, successfully broken the racial barrier down, young and old.

We requested a stay in eviction, this was declined due to the fact that a Portuguese company, developers and contractors were and ready on a tight schedule: this thing has to be finalised before March 2016 (did you know the Portuguese were involved?)

Upon leaving the meeting, a final question was tabled: why our land when Hoy Park Sporting Precinct is there for the taking? His response, because ours is more cost effective.

We left there feeling more frustrated yet more determined.

A rematch between 'Mayweather and Pacquiao'  is on the cards, but unlike our boxing buddies, we won't be waiting a year for a rematch. We are prepared to get back into the ring...This time it will be the legal route...and we all know how long the wheels of Justice take to turn...

Will they get us out?

Keep watching...

Council Withdraws Question re Closure of Newmarket Stables

2015-07-29 13:45:21

We have just received terrible news - the question regarding Newmarket Stables, to be addressed tomorrow at the Council Meeting in Tongaat, has been withdrawn by the Speaker on a technical point (apparently a spelling error).

This means that Newmarket will not be discussed tomorrow and we doubt that the Urgent Motion to halt evictions will be allowed.

The DA Councillor, Martin Meyer, is looking into other avenues to get answers on behalf of us all.

Will keep you posted.
