Moreland Council provide a decent Upfield bike path detour for Albert-Phoenix street upgrade

Outcome of Moreland Council Meeting

I presented the petition with the first 56 signatories (printed about 6.30pm). I spoke to the petition to the Councillors.

There was a urgent Council motion considered by Cr Bolton near the end of the meeting to delay the work pending further discussions with Moreland BUG for a better detour. This was defeated.

Cr Riley then proposed that the CEO and Director of City Infrastructure hold urgent discussions on Thursday to resolve issues regarding the detour. Looks like I'll be liasing to try and find some solutions tomorrow, although there are no simple outcomes. Fallon street, west of the railway line perhaps? Definitely much better signage required.

An informal solution, but one which Council can't advocate, is for cyclists to use the Wollworths car park, This is your right, especially if you are a customer. But all care needs to be taken as this is a car park with a lot of reversing vehicles.
