Update Sterrebos en aankomende acties

Beste vrienden van het Sterrebos,

In deze luwte voor de vervroegde zitting op 13 januari a.s. bij de Raad van State willen we jullie op de hoogte brengen van enkele belangrijke punten:

1. Overhandigen van de petitie bij het Gouvernement op vrijdag 10 december a.s.
2. Grote demonstratie in Sittard voor behoud van het Sterrenbos op zaterdag 8 januari a.s.
3. Financiële ondersteuning juridische strijd De Groene Sporenwolf
4. Enkele inspiratiebronnen

1. Vrijdag 10 december a.s.: Aanbieden van de petitie

Locatie:     verzamelen bij het Gouvernement in Maastricht, Limburglaan 10 (bij de brug naast natuurgebied De Kleine Weert).
Tijd:          12.45 - 13.30 uur

We realiseren ons in deze fase van de strijd dat we niet tot in lengte van dagen door kunnen blijven gaan met het promoten van de petitie. De huidige stand van zaken is dat we nu ruim 1.500 handtekening hebben. Met het oog op de naderende zitting bij de Raad van State is nu het moment aangebroken om de petitie aan te bieden.

Gezien de belangenverstrengeling van de Provincie in het VDL Nedcar - dossier hebben we besloten om de petitie aan een vertegenwoordiger van de Provincie aan te bieden. We willen hierbij ook een vertegenwoordiger van VDL Nedcar uitnodigen om de petitie mede in ontvangst te nemen. 

WE MOETEN VAN ONS LATEN HOREN; KOMT ALLEN!

2. Zaterdag 8 januari 2022: Grote demonstratie in Sittard voor bos- en natuurbehoud en duurzame werkgelegenheid

Locatie:     verzamelen voor het station in Sittard (niet de buszijde)
Tijd:          12.00 uur

Red het Sterrebos heeft samen met omwonenden en diverse andere groepen de krachten gebundeld om op de tweede zaterdag van januari een gezamenlijke demonstratie te organiseren in Sittard. VDL Nedcar is pro-actief de winterslaap van kwetsbare diersoorten aan het verstoren, omdat met name de beschermde vleermuizen een struikelblok vormen voor het verlenen van de kapvergunning.

We zien dat heel veel mensen in Zuid-Limburg en daarbuiten boos zijn over de gang van zaken. Hierdoor denken wij dat dit het perfecte moment is om zoveel mogelijk publiciteit te genereren bij burgers en in de media. We hopen met deze demonstratie te laten zien waar wij voor strijden en dat we het Sterrebos (of welk bos dan ook) niet zonder slag of stoot op zullen geven.

De ontwikkelingen rond de werkgelegenheid van VDL Nedcar lijken van dag tot dag te veranderen; met Amerikaanse opdrachtgevers die zich terugtrekken en andere Amerikanen die zich lijken aan te bieden. Er is lokaal veel twijfel over de toegezegde baangaranties gezien de robotisering in de auto-industrie. Het aantal werkzoekenden in de regio staat niet in verhouding tot de beloofde werkgelegenheid waar VDL Nedcar mee schermt.
Er is in dit belangenspel sprake van veel greenwashing en windowdressing (je groener/duurzamer voordoen dan je in werkelijkheid bent).

Zo lezen wij op de site van Rivian (een mogelijke nieuwe klant ?): 

          “We have formed a partnership with The Nature Conservancy to battle climate change and biodiversity loss.”
          (letterlijk vertaald: We zijn een partnerschap aangegaan met Natuurbescherming om klimaatverandering en biodiversiteitsverlies tegen
          te gaan.)

Red het Sterrebos roept op om op te komen voor het natuurbehoud en de biodiversiteit in het smalste stukje van onze regio. 
We verzamelen bij het station in Sittard en na afloop van de demonstratie is er een programma met diverse sprekers.
Bijgesloten vinden jullie een flyer met een oproep om in jullie netwerken te verspreiden.

Maak een protestbord, breng potten en pannen mee om lawaai te maken zodat ze het in Born kunnen horen, verkleed je als vleermuis, vlinder, boom etc.

3. Juridische strijd De Groene Sporenwolf

We wensen onze vrienden van De Groene Sporenwolf succes met de juridische strijd bij de Raad van State.Aan gerechtelijke procedures zijn echter aanzienlijke kosten verbonden. Een financiële bijdrage aan De Groene Sporenwolf als steun bij deze strijd, wordt dan ook zeer gewaardeerd.

4. Inspiratiebronnen

• De universele wijsheid van de Enten uit “In de Ban van de Ring”:

          “…… hierom maakten ze de Enten, de Bewakers van de bossen, wat ze dus ook altijd deden. Ook hadden ze een grote afkeer van geweld
          en deden ze alles op hun eigen tempo. De Enten, grote pratende bomen, die konden zichzelf verplaatsen met hun benen. Ze woonden
          voornamelijk in het woud van Fangorn, maar ook in De Gouw. Enten zijn een uitstervend ras omdat er geen Entvrouwen van zijn. De
          Enten worden geleid door de EntMoet. Dit is een Raad met een aantal wijze Enten, zoals Boombaard. Toen de Enten ontdekten dat
          Saruman voor zijn fabrieken een groot stuk van het woud van Fangorn had laten omhakken, kwamen ze meteen in actie. De laatste
          mars van de Enten werd dit genoemd. Ze vielen met een grote groep Enten Isengard, het fort van Saruman, aan. Er vielen enkele Enten
          maar ze hadden Saruman en Grima Slangtong gevangen.”

Dear friends of the Sterrebos,

In the run-up to the scheduled hearing on 13 January at the Council of State, we would like to inform you of a few important matters:

1. Handing over the petition at the Gouvernement on Friday 10 December.
2. Large demonstration in Sittard for the preservation of the Sterrebos on Saturday 8 January.
3. Financial support for the legal battle of De Groene Sporenwolf
4. A few sources of inspiration

1. Friday 10 December: Handing over the petition

Location:     Gather at the Gouvernement in Maastricht, Limburglaan 10 (near the bridge,next to nature reserve De Kleine Weerd).
Time:          12.45 - 13.30 hrs.

We realise at this point in the struggle that we cannot continue to campaign for the petition indefinitely. The current situation is that we have over 1,500 signatures. In the face of the approaching hearing at the Raad van State, now is the time to offer the petition.

Given the entanglement of the interests of the Province in the VDL Nedcar case, we have decided to present the petition to a representative of the Province. We also want to invite a representative of VDL Nedcar to accept the petition.
We gather at the small bridge of the Provincial Building next to the nature reserve De Kleine Weerd, at the T-junction of Randwycksingel-Limburglaan.

2. Saturday 8 January 2022: Big demonstration in Sittard for forest and nature conservation and sustainable employment

Location:     gather in front of the station in Sittard (not the bus side)
Time:          12.00pm

Together with local residents and various other groups, Red het Sterrebos has joined forces to organise a joint demonstration in Sittard on the second Saturday in January. VDL Nedcar is proactively disturbing the hibernation of vulnerable animal species, because the protected bats in particular are a hindrance to the granting of the felling licence.

We see that many people in the South of Limburg and beyond are angry about the current state of affairs. Therefore we think this is the perfect moment to generate as much publicity as possible amongst citizens and in the media. With this demonstration we hope to show what we are fighting for and that we will not give up the Sterrebos (or any other forest) without a fight.

The developments regarding the jobs at VDL Nedcar seem to change from day to day, with American clients withdrawing and other American contractors appearing to emerge. Locally, there is much doubt about the promised job guarantees given the robotisation in the car industry. The number of job-seekers in the region is not in proportion to the promised jobs VDL Nedcar is displaying.
There is a lot of greenwashing and window-dressing in this game of interests (pretending to be more green/sustainable than you really are).

For example, we read on the site of Rivian (a possible new customer?):

Red het Sterrebos calls for people to stand up for nature conservation and biodiversity in the narrowest part of our region. 
We gather at the station in Sittard and after the demonstration there will be various speakers.

3. Legal battle of the De Groene Sporenwolf

We wish our friends from De Groene Sporenwolf good luck with the legal battle at the Raad van State.
However, legal proceedings involve considerable expenses. A financial contribution to De Groene Sporenwolf to support this legal fight is therefore highly appreciated.

          "... this is why they made the Ents, the Guardians of the Forests, which is exactly what they always did. They also had a great aversion
          to violence and did everything at their own pace. The Ents, large talking trees, were able to move themselves with their legs. They lived
          mainly in the forest of Fangorn, but also in the Shire. The Ents are a dying race because there are no Ent women. The Ents are led by the
          EntMoot. This is a council with a number of wise Ents, such as Treebeard. When the Ents discovered that Saruman had cut down a large
          section of the Forest of Fangorn for his factories, they immediately took action. This was called the Last March of the Ents.  They
