CLTP Board Meeting

2022-07-16 18:25:15

Hi all, I wanted to give you a quick update as to the status of our request to have the Cheyenne Little Theatre Players drop the vaccine mandate for cast and crew.  As I stated in the last update, we met with the Managing Director and a member of the Admin group (who writes policy for the theatre) to discuss our concerns.  Since then, the admin group met and took our stance and supporting arguments to the larger Board meeting at the end of June, recommending that they review the COVID policies requiring vaccines.  The Board had a lengthy discussion and ultimately decided to send it back to the Admin Committee to develop specific recommendations of policies for when unvaccinated cast and crew return to the productions, as well as specific policies related to religious and/or medical exemptions.  I was invited to provide suggestions on these policies, so if you have any ideas, please let me know.

Thank you.

Meeting with CLTP 5/19/22

2022-05-20 00:31:45

All,

Today I, along with another former crew member, sat down with the CLTP Managing Director (Ceara) and the VP of Administration (member of the CLTP Board, Sara), to discuss our concerns with the COVID19 vaccine mandate that is still in place at the theatre for all cast and crew.  I am happy to say that the meeting went very well and that I believe we all heard each other and understood each other's positions.

We stressed that each person should be able to decide for themselves the risk they are willing to take (there's a risk to take the vaccine, there's a risk to not take it) rather than to have it decided for us.

Many topics were discussed, such as how to address cast or crew who get sick and that then impacts a performance? (they acknowledged that people who have been vaccinated can still get COVID19; we also discussed that nobody can keep everybody safe; a suggestion was made to implement more under studies for roles and additional crew so that a show can keep going if someone gets sick; a suggestion was also given that cast/crew sign paperwork indicating that if they do get sick, they agree to step away from the performance and take all the steps necessary to prevent giving it to others).  Also how to address people who do not feel safe if masks are not required? (not a focus of our petition, but we did say that it's been proven that the majority of masks that are in place are not effective, but if people want to wear them for their own comfort, they should; CLTP has also relaxed mask requirements for the public and for cast and crew).

They did acknowledge that their communication hasn't been as it should be; one example of this is that they are willing to consider medical and religious exemptions to taking the vaccine.  If anyone would like to do that, speak to Ceara Madson, who will then take that to the Board for approval.  We all felt that this was a great step forward as a compromise.  They do want to express to you that they are trying very hard to move forward, to get past the "living in a pandemic" phase, but are trying to balance the concerns of all volunteers with needing to keep shows going so that revenue is generated to keep the doors open.  They also recognize and regret that relationships have been damaged and need to be repaired, and they want to express to you all that you are valued and missed.

If you have specific concerns you'd like to make known to CLTP, they would love to hear from you.  You can meet with them personally or email them.  If you'd prefer, you may also contact me and I will take that to them.

I gave them a stack of documentation (articles, studies, data) nearly 2" thick for their reference moving forward.  These included topics such as the risk for adverse events after taking the vaccine, religious objections to the vaccines, data related to people who have been vaccinated can still contract COVID19 and transmit it to others, the risks of COVID19 as it relates to age groups and health (e.g., younger age groups, <=64 have a very low morbidity rate, and people who are healthy maintain a very low risk if they get COVID19), and the validity of natural immunity after contracting the virus.

The next steps are that Sara will take the information to the Administration group, which works on policy for the theatre; they will meet late June.  After they meet, the group will go to the Board, which meets June 28th.  After that, we should hear more information about their decision.  I have offered to meet with either group to have a similar conversation as today if they would like to do so.

Thank you for your support of this important topic.  I am happy to have represented you today.

Update on Petition to CLTP to Lift C19 Vaccine Mandate

2022-04-28 21:42:53

All,

I'm emailing you to give you an update regarding the petition you so generously and courageously signed in support of Cheyenne Little Theatre Players (CLTP) cast and crew who oppose the COVID19 vaccine mandate that is still in place.

Today I received an email from the VP of Administration for CLTP, who invited me to a meeting with her and the Managing Director to discuss our concerns regarding this mandate for all cast and crew; I plan to meet with them May 19.

In the next couple of weeks, I will prepare for this meeting by gathering current data, articles, and anything that will help support our position.  If any of you have any such resources, please send them to me.

Thank you for your support, and I will keep you updated.

Update on CLTP COVID19 Vaccine Mandate Petition

2022-02-23 20:57:21

All, thank you for your support of this petition, asking the CLTP to drop their mandate that all cast and crew be fully vaccinated for COVID19.  Today I hand-delivered printed versions of the petition, signatures (we have 25!), and a letter to the CLTP Managing Director, Ms. Ceara Madson, the CLTP President, Mr. John Lyttle, and the past president, Ms. Mary Hall.  I will let you know if anything happens from here.  Thanks again.

Thank you for your support of the petition asking that the CLTP reverse the COVID19 vaccine mandate in place for cast and crew.  We are still working on gathering signatures and request that you consider sharing the link to your family and friends, particularly anyone involved with the theatre, so we can have as many signatures as possible.  We are trying to contact sponsors of the theatre to alert them to this policy, as they may not be aware that it is in place, but in the meantime need more people to sign the petition.  Thank you for your help!
