Against Du Noon residents' settlement relocation

The residents' of Kensington & Factreton demand that the City of Cape Town and Transnet reconsider the decision to relocate Du Noon informal settlement residents' to the Kensington/Factreton area.

Our democratric rights cannot be violated by relocating an entire community of people into our community without consulting the Kensington/Factreton community. Neither can the Du Noon residents' democratic rights be violated by relocating them to a total different area, out of their way, that's rife with gang violence and shootings almost everyday. The open land can rather be given over to the community for development in order to help the residents' living in the community to have better living circumstances. For example, proper housing for the residents' in the Kensington/Factreton community before any external informal settlements are accomodated.

Furthermore, there are huge open, vacant lands in areas such as Pinelands and Constantia, so why not consider relocating Du Noon informal settlement residents' there? They will have a much better living environment, much bigger space and will be more satisfied.
