Appeal For Moderation in DPS Joka school fees under COVID-19 Pandemic

Dear DPS Joka students’ parents of Genexx Valley and anyone else outside also.

On the wake of the very awkward situation from Novel Corona virus outbreak and under prevailing nationwide lock down, the school remains closed as we all are aware of.

But DPS Joka has already initiated the school fee payment for the new session in their website. Where in it is understood that they are charging the normal readmission fees, tuition fees and also transportation fees. They also say a fine of Rs 35/- per day will apply if not paid within due timelines.

Due to the virus outbreak we are already in an unprecedented condition where no one knows when and how the present Covid-19 scenario will span out.

While all governments across the globe and even in India are waiving off payments like RBI Moratorium etc is on the offer and here we have DPS Joka who want us to pay regular readmission fees which at the first place is bizarre. Why each year any readmission fee is required we do pay a hefty one time admission fee when a ward is admitted for the first time. Ideally, they should seek only the tuition fees on which also there should be no late payment charges and how come are they expecting the Transportation fees? Who is going to school now? They have made education into pure business even in such tough times. The school management should have thought about the parents’ and pass on similar such benefits spontaneously at this crisis period.

Parents let’s unite for this cause and let’s be a part of this online petition for reduction in the overall school fees. We shall reach out to the honorable CM and Education Minister of the state and also involve DPS Society if need be to support our plea. let’s not succumb to their unjust demands just because our kids study there.  We believe the appeal is well supported with easily understandable logic hence we hereby collectively agree to this plea.

Purpose Of the Online Petition:

1) The DPS Joka (south kolkata) school management is required to first accept and understand that this is an extraordinary situation and a changed world with global Covid-19 pandemic. The normal logic say that under this emergency situation the management should act accordingly and pass on all benefits to their students in every possible ways.

2) The DPS Joka (south Kolkata) school website do not provide the cost break up under different heading, we hence request them to update us for the same or at least provide the fees break up under different heading in the school website. The school management should readily provide such details and extend their guidance with clarity to the parents.

3) Considering the prevailing Covid-19 circumstances the DPS Joka school management requested to have a relook in to the entire payment proposition with reduction in fee and revise the payment instruction accordingly.

4) The bus service not availed by the students due the pandemic extraordinary situation. Hence Our final demand to the DPS Joka school management is to Waive Off / Reduce the transportation fee component till the time school reopens.

5) DPS Joka (south Kolkata) school management to waive off / extend the last date of payment by revising late payment clause until the normalcy is restored.

Now, under the nationwide lockdown condition, we are unable to carry out parents’ representation physically hence we collectively agree to be heard by signing the online petition.

NOTE:  This online petition has been made for the sole purpose of the above mentioned causes and won’t be a binding on anyone of us for any other reason(s).
