Ask the city of Fernandina Beach to removal the recycled tire crumble (mulch) from the Central Park playground.

We are asking the city of Fernandina Beach to remove the recycled tire crumble from the Central Park playground. Tire crumble contains many toxic chemicals that are known to cause cancer in humans. When tire crumble breaks down it contaminates the soil. The chemicals released from tire crumble are shown in studies to kill aquatic and plant life. As the tires break down over time they become more toxic. The tire crumple is now under our children's feet as they play. Concerned parents have reported their young children putting this substance in their mouths. Please support this petition asking the city of Fernandina Beach to remove the recycled tire crumple from the park and replace it with a safe material for our children and for the environment. 

This is a time sensitive issue because the crumble is spreading out from the playground and is going to be harder and harder to clean up.
