Cancellation of final semester examinations for all UG and PG courses.

Respected Sir,

With reference to UGC guidelines dated on 6 July 2020 which mandates the conduct of final semester examinations for all UG/PG courses before the end of September, we would like to request the concerned authorities to rethink over their decision as it is going to put the life of many students(who are our country's future) at stake. 

We understand that the examinations are very crucial parameter for assessing the students for awarding degree to them and we are never against the notion of conduct of examinations. But since it is the time of great pandemic and everyday cases are increasing at an ever alarming rate, so this is not the right time to conduct the examinations. And as many prestigious institutes of our country like, IITs have cancelled their examinations in the wake of current pandemic situation and are assessing their students upon the basis of their previous semester and internal assessments performance, so why this same formula of assessment cannot be applied to other universities and instituitions of our country? Even many examinations of CBSE board students are cancelled in the wake of this situation which is of course a very commendable decision at administration's side, but then why such decision cannot be applied on us? This is our whole point. 

And coming to the online mode of conduct of examinations as directed by UGC, this is also not a feasible solution for current situation and there are 2 major reasons for that: Firstly, many universities and instituitions do not possess and have support for proper infrastructure which is required for conducting these examinations in online mode. And secondly, many students are currently present at the remote locations(like, rural areas) of our country with their families and since these areas are not having proper support for internet connectivity, so it will hinder the students present there in attempting their examinations. 

And most importantly the students are going through an intense mental agony as there is lot of pressure in their minds regarding their career prospects and higher studies which is being exacerbated by this continuous defering of examinations. 

So considering all these points we(the students of our nation) with due respect and regards would like to request the concerned authorities to kindly consider our proposal of cancellation of examinations and promote us on the basis of either our past performance or internal assessments or in any other way which they find suitable. As we are the future of our nation and in case any of us get infected with this COVID-19 disease and unfortunately loses their life then it would be a great loss for their families as well as to our country.
