Petition in favour of the reopening of "Case L'Amicale"

Petition in favour of the reopening of "Case L'Amicale"

Since 1999, following the fire at L'Amicale de Port Louis, the following persons namely:

Abdool Naseeb Keramuth

Shafick Nawoor

Sheik Imran Sumodhee

Khaleel Oudeen Sumodhee

were arrested, kept in custody and are now serving life sentences in Beau-Bassin prison.

All four of them have consistently and on each and every occasion reaffirmed their innocence.  Mr Sumodhee and his brother have, when they attended the funeral of Mrs Sumodhee last year, publicly claimed in front of all the persons who have assembled for the funeral that they are victims of an act of injustice and they are innocent.  They swore in the name of the Almighty with the Quran in their hands and their faces towards the Holy Kaa'ba that thay have nothing to do with the fire at L'Amicale de Port Louis.

All of you who trust the words of a believer when he has affirmed his innocence with the Quran in the hands swearing in the name of the Almighty are invited to sign this petition asking for the reopening if the inquiry in the "L'Amicale case".

We urge the Government, more particularly, the Prime Minister & minister of Internal Affairs, to consider this petition signed by all of us who believe in justice, to order a new police inquiry to ascertain the truth and to bring the real criminals to justice.

We ask for no more
