FC Parking

JBG is planning to tear down Falkland Chase in the future -- but we pay rent now.  We signed leases for an apartment complex with parking and had reasonable expectations that parking would continue to be available.  The new JBG policy mismanages the parking resources to a degree that denies residents full and fair access to parking.  As a common-sense alternative:

1. End reserved parking, freeing up 26 spaces immediately.

2. Issue one parking sticker to each person on each lease, with each sticker tied to a single vehicle.  (Use the type of sticker that has a writable block for noting the license plate of that vehicle.)

3. Issue one visitor parking hangtag to each apartment -- regardless of the number of vehicles registered to the lessees.  Even people without cars pay rent and should be allowed visitors.

4. Tie the expiration dates of stickers and hangtags to lease-end dates to eliminate the need for repeat visits to the leasing office and to simplify record-keeping.

5. Stop requiring that each person show a Driver's License to get parking.  We provided proof of ID when we signed our leases and JBG's requests for further documentation violate our privacy.

6. Stop requiring proof of vehicle registration to get parking.  Maryland state law prohibits unregistered vehicles and JBG's requests for further documentation violate our privacy.

7. Do not charge additional fees for parking.  Landlords are responsible for managing parking.  This is not an "added value" JBG is providing for which we should pay additional fees.
