The 'Hat' is full of retirees including my parents who both rely on the MHDL which is efficient. Now AHS expects them to sit and wait for hours at the Hospital which is already groaning under the hoards of waiting patients. Sean Chilton states "this isn't about quality of care". Right, it is all about the almighty buck and sticking it to Medicine Hat once again. I am so tired with our government talking out of both sides of their mouths. AHS should be about quality of care and patients will be affected by this obscene, uncaring, cavilier irresponsible flip of the wrist by OUR AHS.

I know a friend who's goal it is to become part of the team at the diagnostics lab. If this lab were to shut down, it would close a door for her, as well as hundreds others who rely on this lab to receive blood testing on a regular basis.

This is crazy! Those labs provide a service all over the city. To have to only have one place is ridiculous! Medicine Hat is way too big!

For 70 people to be under this kind of stress of losing their liveliehood? Why isn't the City Council standing up for these taxpayers? AHS took away our ambulance service --don't let them take away 70 jobs from excellent highly skilled persons. Speak up for all of them!

With the huge population of seniors in the Hat we need our labs. Why be exposed. To the germs at the hospital????

Even though I live in Calgary now. I used to live in Redcliff. I feel there is a great need for the Lab in the area.

I read that unnecessary vitamin D level testing is costing the health care system 1 000 000 per year. Why is this allowed to happen? Please explain this to me.

I question the true motivation behind this decision. Shutting down an existing facility in order to allow for rebuilding a new facility to provide the exact same service does not seem to be an alignment with cost savings or provision of improved patient care. MHDL has been operating for more than 40 years. Why is it now that they are suddenly deemed too costly?

Why not get rid of some AHS VP'S if they want to save money!!! The people at the labs actually work for their money. This is another example of AHS having thier head up thier ASS.

Tell AHS to bring back paying for Alberta health care premiums to those who can afford it. The way it used to be was no problem and provided funding for AHS. Seniors and poverty line incomes exempt of course. Regards Linda Hashem. Medicine Hat.
