INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GEORG LUKÁCS IN BUDAPST, APRIL 27–29, 2017 Eötvös Loránd University and Central European University host an international conference in Budapest entitled, “The Legacy of Georg Lukács.” The conference aims to reiterate the intellectual heritage of this great Hungarian philosopher, to demonstrate its relevance throughout the ages, and thereby to protest against current governmental measures that jeopardize the survival of the Lukács Archive and have resulted in the removal of Lukács’ statue from Szent István Park. Approximately one hundred researchers will come to Budapest—from, among other countries, China, Japan, the United States, Brazil, and Germany—to give lectures reflecting upon the intellectual oeuvre of one of the central philosophers of the twentieth century, an outstanding figure in the legacy of Hungarian intelligentsia. All inquiries may be directed toward János Kelemen (jim218@t-online.hu) and Michael Thompson (ThompsonMi@wpunj.edu).
