Induct Clyde Stubblefield in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Clyde Stubblefield (4/18/43 – 2/18/17), “The Original Funky Drummer” of James    Brown’s band, deserves induction into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. Clyde’s “Funky Drummer" drum pattern is considered to be one of the World’s most sampled pieces of music and Clyde's beats and rhythmic grooves are the foundation of James Brown's hit songs.  Artists that sampled Clyde's drum pattern include The Roots with Questlove, Madonna, Public Enemy, Melissa Etheridge, Prince, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, George Michael to name a few.  Though the sole creator of the “original funky drum pattern”, for the most part, he has not been credited for the use of these samples. In addition to “Funky Drummer” (1970), his work propelled such James Brown hits as “Cold Sweat” (1967), “MotherPopcorn” (1969),“Say It Loud - I’m Black and I’m Proud” (1968), “I Got the Feelin’” (1968), and Get Up (I Feel Like Being a ) Sex Machine” (1970). Clyde is rap & hip-hop royalty and his induction into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame is warrented given his remarkable drumming talent and incredible contributions to the World of Music as “The Original Funky Drummer.” Clyde, who left school in the 6th grade in Chattanooga, TN and who never took a drum lesson but could play any genre of music expertly, was presented with the Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts in 2017 by the University of Wisconsin. Please add your name to this petition to insure that Clyde is inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame, a recognition he so richly deserves.
