LAWYERS OF INDIA AGAINST 'DISMANTLE GLOBLE HINDUTVA' EVENT. A petition written to global universities in protest of sponsoring hinduphobic event.

Dear University Administrators,

1.    We are writing this letter to express our deep concern and anguish about an event titled ‘dismantling global Hindutva’ (DGH) which is to be organised from 10 to 12 September 2021.

2.    As per the information circulating all around the internet through the website of DGH, social media profiles on Twitter , Instagram of DGH and promotional brochure circulated by DGH, it has been claimed by the organisers of this event that, the event has been sponsored by the departments and centers of your university. In order to authenticate this claim the organisers of DGH are using the name and logo of your university.

3.    The promotional brochures of the event do not disclose the name of the departments and centers of your university which are supporting this event. Clandestinely, nowhere in this event’s promotional brochures, the organisers have revealed their identity, which raises more questions on this event.

4.    It becomes very pertinent at this juncture to draw your attention towards the Hindu phobic discourse which the organisers of this event intend to spread globally by exploiting the name of your reputed institution. The organisers of DGH are tarnishing the image of Hinduism, which is the oldest religion on earth by unfairly associating it with some political events in India.

5.    The organisers of the event describe Hinduism as racist, casteist, fascist and violent against minorities and other marginalised communities. The organisers have gone too far to cast Hinduism as a ‘supremacist religion’ and have termed its acceptance by other countries as a ‘global threat’.

6.    We mark our strong objection to an event that is going to be organised to malign Hindu religion that has given birth to multiple other religions like Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. The endless list of contributions offered by Hinduism in the evolution of mankind is not limited to but includes Vedas, Upanishads, yoga, the concept of ahimsa (nonviolence), spirituality, dhyana (meditation), Shribhagwat Geeta, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, the concept of the solar system in the universe, zero, the value of pie etc.

7.    Hinduism often referred to as ‘family of religions’ and ‘a way of life’, is a religion that practice and preach inclusion of entire human race in all senses. It is believed in Hinduism that that there is only one god and there can be multiple different paths to reach god. An event like ‘dismantling global Hindutva’ is an insult to a religion, that has shown the path of spirituality to the world and intends to defame its millions of followers around the globe.

8.    An educational institution unlike its academics should be neutral and should not take part in any form of political bigotry. The organisers of DGH have blurred the sanctity of legitimate criticism and through this event intend to disgrace Hinduism by mixing it with certain political events in India.

9.    We therefore respectfully request your institution to refrain from any possible association with this event titled ‘dismantling global hindutva’. In case, the organisers of this event have used the name and logo of your institution, then we request you to ask the organisers of this event for removal of your name and logo or any other form of representation that shows your association or participation with this hateful event.

10. In case your institution do not observe severance from this event, in the manner as requested above, then we will be left with no other option and shall be constrained to take legal recourse against you.
