Let Children Go Back to School

Covid may infect our kids but children are half as likely to get covid as adults. It's a very rare chance that they may get seriously ill. But no schooling is adversely affecting 100% of our kids. It's leading to a terrible loss of learning, hampering skill development, and crippling the emotional well-being of our children, among several other immediate and long term repercussions. We will be causing irreparable damage to the entire next generation if we do not open schools immediately.

As per WHO: Based on the best available data, COVID-19 appears to have a limited direct burden on children’s health, accounting for about 8.5% of reported cases globally, and very few deaths. In contrast, school closures have clear negative impacts on child health, education and development, family income and the overall economy. National and local governments should consider prioritizing continuity of education by investing in comprehensive, multilayered measures to prevent introduction and further spread of SARS-CoV-2 in educational settings.

It's highly critical that we prioritize overall well-being of our children and let them attend school. Places with less than 5% positivity rate must open schools in hybrid mode with mandatory vaccination for teachers/staff and all protocols in place.

We need to stand together to save our children from any further torture. Let us give them their life back.
