NO to Ordo Iuris on Polish universities!

We, signed below, want to express our strong protest against the cooperation of public univeristies and Ordo Iuris foundation. We are against organising the series of lectures given by Rebecca Kiessling – an anti-choice activist on Polish national universities. This event, initiated by Institute for Law Culture Ordo Iuris and Universities' Student Scientific Circles makes us deeply concerned because of its higly uneducational and fundamentalist subject.

We think it is not suitable for highly respected public institutions which universities are, to cooperate with Ordo Iuris Institute also in a form of collaboration with scientific circles which are integral part of universities. We believe that using the public universities' authority and many years of scientific tradition for promoting and justifying Ordo Iuris and Rebecca Kiessling's demands is morally wrong; what is worse, it can also lead universities to lose its public respect and relialability.

As citizens of Kraków, Wrocław, Warszawa, Lublin and Toruń, students of Jagiellonian University, University of Warsaw, University of Wrocław, Catholic University of Lublin, Nicolaus Copernicus University of Toruń and other universities, we express our deep concern about the standard of the academic content promoted by the universities as we want it to be in accordance with relialable and commonly recognised scientific knowledge.

Simultaneously, we think that the meeting with Rebecca Kiessling does not possess the above-mentioned characteristics as it is not the scientific content which could be the subject of an academic debate. Moreover, the speaker's demands are against Polish law and bioetics' teaching program and regarding the International Women's Strike which took place few days ago they seem highly inappropriate.

We want universities to seek for truth and broaden freedom based on scientific standards.
