Petition for the cancellation of the SM100 directive and for the return of traditional reports at Czech railway stations
Dear citizens, passengers and supporters of the Czech Railways,
In 2020, the Railway Administration issued directive SM100, which fundamentally and negatively changes the way of reporting at our railway stations and stops. This directive shortens the messages, unifies their content and removes the traditional jingles and voices we are used to. Instead, impersonal, blunt and incomprehensible messages are introduced, which not only disturb the orientation and comfort of passengers, but also threaten their safety.
What happened:
Restrictions on reporting at stops: The directive prohibits reporting at smaller railway stops, such as Prague-Kyje. This measure is senseless and dangerous, as passengers are often dependent only on voice information at these stops, which is now completely absent.
Abbreviation of messages: Messages that were previously detailed and understandable have been shortened to the extent that passengers often do not receive the necessary information about the arrival, departure or train route. This approach especially threatens the elderly, people with disabilities and those who do not have access to modern technology.
Loss of uniqueness: Czech stations was known for its variety of voices, jingles and systems that were unique not only in our country, but also in the world. This tradition is now replaced by a uniform, almost artificial voice that lacks individuality and charm. Kateřina Mendlová-Jírů's voice, which is now dominant, is perceived by many passengers as unpleasant, robotic and shrill.
Pressure on firms: The railway administration is putting disproportionate pressure on reporting firms, threatening them with huge penalties if they do not comply with the new rules. This situation is unfair and unethical because these companies have years of experience and know what is best for passengers.
Lies and manipulation: The railway administration claims that the public complains about the volume of reports, which is supposed to be the reason for their reduction. However, these claims are false. People complain about missing and incomplete reports that are
a consequence of this directive.
What we require:
Immediate repeal of the SM100 directive. Return of full, understandable and traditional announcements at all stations and stops.
Restoration of jingles and voices, which are an integral part of Czech railway culture.
Maintaining announcements at all stops, including smaller ones, with sufficient time before the arrival and departure of the train.
Support this petition and help us preserve what makes the Czech railway unique!
With your signature, you show your disapproval of the current changes and support a return to traditional values that ensure comfort, safety and a pleasant train travel experience. Together we can stop this senseless directive and dictatorship that the Railway Administration is trying to impose.
Thank you for your support. Together we can do it!
