Requisition for joining college internship.

We the students of National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (Divyangjan), Kolkata from the departments of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Prosthetics & Orthotics make an urgent appeal to the Director, NILD and other competent authorities pertaining to:
Providing accommodation for the students that will be joining their internship in the college premises till the situation aroused due to COVID-19 normalizes.
At least 15% increment in our stipend which has not been raised since 4 years. As mention in the memo dated 06.02.2016 “Reply of issues faced by students”.
Ensuring all safety measures and providing protective equipment such as PPE kit, masks, gloves, sanitizers etc. as per the norms of the government for all medical and rehabilitation related fields. As per Guidelines on rational use of PPE by MoHFW
Shift wise or rotatory clinic duties so as to avoid over-crowding and maintain social distancing at all times in the department. As per social distancing norms given by MoHFW
We are facing challenging times due to COVID-19 pandemic and the safety of your students and the patients should be one of the most crucial criteria for our institution. Diversity of this national institute is well known, we have students from all over the country that are requested to join internship as per the college circular No.INTERN-INST/886/ACAD/2004/NIOH/1188(4) but since we have to travel interstate we are not sure whether our landlords will allow us to stay in our PGs or not. Even the local students cannot commute daily under present scenario hence we request you to make accommodations for all internees within campus for time being.
Furthermore, we have been paying our rents irrespective of the current situation which is taking a great toll on our finances hence we request a hike in our stipend so that they may be some consort for us as mentioned earlier it has not been review since 2016.
We are committed to our duties as healthcare professionals and towards our divyangjan patients and ready to serve them as soon as possible but you have to ensure the safety of us not just for our sakes but for our patients and family as well only then we can commit fully and effectively to our responsibilities. We hope that during these challenging times you shall stand with us and for us in solidarity and help us in all way possible.
