Petition to Improve Glenwood Swan Lake Playground – Safer, More Inclusive, and Better Equipped for All Children

To: Blacktown City Council, Parks & Recreation Department, Mayor Michael Bunting, and Local Councillors

Dear Blacktown City Council,

We, the residents of Glenwood, urge the council to upgrade Glenwood Swan Lake Playground to ensure a safer, more inclusive, and enjoyable space for children of all ages.

Key Concerns:

Safety Risks – The playground’s proximity to Swan Lake and a busy road poses a danger to toddlers due to the lack of secure fencing.

Limited Play Equipment – More age-appropriate structures are needed to cater to both toddlers and older children.

Lack of Shade – Insufficient sun protection makes it unsafe for children and families during hot weather.

Maintenance Issues – Existing equipment requires repainting, repairs, and general upkeep to ensure safety and longevity.

Our Requests:

Install safety fencing to enclose the toddler area.

Add more diverse play equipment for all age groups.

Provide shade structures to improve sun protection.

Conduct regular maintenance to enhance safety and usability.

Why This Matters:

A well-maintained, fully equipped, and safe playground benefits the entire community by promoting outdoor activity, social interaction, and child development while ensuring peace of mind for parents.

We respectfully request that Blacktown City Council prioritizes these improvements and explores funding options to support this much-needed upgrade.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Concerned Parents and Residents of Glenwood
