The most recent crime statistics have revealed a shocking increase in crime including sexual offences, attempted murder, assault with intent, burglary at residential premises, carjacking, drug-related crime and robbery with aggravated circumstances.

• Sexual offences have risen by 27.8%
• Murder up by 15.2%
• Attempted murder up by 11.1%
• Burglary at residential premises up by 6.3%
• Drug-related crime up by 36.4%
• Rape up by 57.1%
• Robbery with aggravated circumstances 36.8%
• Robbery at residential premises up by 50%
• Robbery at non-residential premises up by 16%
• Burglary at non-residential premises up by 22,2%
• Theft of Motor vehicles and motorcycles up by 24.7% 

The DA calls on the Portfolio Committee on Police to urgently investigate the lack of sector police officers and vehicles, which is contributing to the raging crime rate. Please sign our petition to show your support.
