Raby Bay Harbour Proposed Marina Extension

This Petition has been posted in regards to the Proposed Extension to the Raby Bay Marina, located at 14-16 Masthead drive Cleveland. The proposal is lodged under the development application number: MCU013175

Dear Residents, Staff and Visitors of Raby Bay Harbour,

We are seeking your assistance to sign this petition to object to the proposal for an additional 16 Marina Births that will span from the current Marina Re-fueling station to the current public jetty. If the application is successful, the current open water outlook that we all currently enjoy will be replaced with large boats moored directly outside the Raby Bay Harbour Complex.

The developer Port Binnli Pty Ltd have made a number of deceiving and outrageous statements in their planning report dated 22/12/13 which is freely available on the Redlands council website.

The developer claims:

1. The development is limited to the existing office and car park. Incorrect, The development will span from the re-fueling station to the public jetty which incorporates the entire frontage of the Raby Bay Harbour dining and residential precinct.

2. Expected to have minimum impact on the amenity of the area. Incorrect, This development will have a major impact on the character of Raby Bay Harbour which is currently enjoyed by residents and patrons who visit the site.

3. An existing unit development is located to the north of the subject site.  True and irrelevant. The applicant has deliberately failed to mention the residential unit complex located directly above the proposed development.

4. It is expected that expansion of the marina will have a positive impact on the overall vitality and vibrancy of the Cleveland centre, the change to the subject site will be minimal. Incorrect, The applicants expectations are wrong and the applicant failed to contact a single person that works or resides in the impacted area. The purpose of the development is strictly to profit as the development provides no value to the public. The proposed fishing jetty is a token gesture that is not required nor will it benefit everyone who visits the site.

5. No additional car parking is proposed as part of this development application. Problem. An existing 75 marina births plus an additional 16 births (Total 91) and an application to develop the subject site into residential units with a total of 24 car parks is beyond unacceptable. The Raby Bay Harbour precinct is already over capacity with parking. Just one vessel 30ft and above can have attached to it, 10 or more personal vehicles taking up valuable car parking space.

The Raby Bay Harbour precinct is a Public area to be enjoyed by anyone who wants to visit the area. It hosts a beautiful back drop for wedding photos, TV weather news crews and family photos. Kids especially enjoy feeding the fish and viewing the other marine creatures that share the environment. If the proposal was to succeed, then this will be replaced by Noise from engines and people at anytime during day or night, smell from fuel odours, exhaust gas, fish and bait, an increase in water pollution and an increase in security issues.

Please sign this petition and help us keep Raby Bay Harbour the way it should be!
