RE: POLITICAL INSTABILITY OF KAGISANO-MOLOPO LOCAL MUNICIPAL COUNCIL

We learned through social platforms that there was a council meeting of Kagisano Molopo on the 30 March 2022 wherein the Speaker who is a deployee of ANC was removed through a motion of no confidence.

The ANC has got 20 out of 29 seats in that council. It is understood that EFF sponsored that motion and supported by Azania. For the council meeting to quorate, there is a need for councilors of ANC to participate.

We learnt that some councilors of ANC participated in the so called council meeting which according to them removed Cllr Moirwagale. We understand that there was no mandate from the ANC through IRC, in fact the IRC discouraged ANC Cllrs to participate on that activity.

It is clear that Cllrs decided to defy ANC and connived with opposition to change deployment arrangement of the ANC. Further than that, we understand that on the 12 April 2022, the so called newly installed Speaker convened a meeting naming it council and there was a motion of no confidence to the Mayor Cllr Marabutse.

The same councilors who participated in the meeting of the 30 March 2022 also took part despite the instruction from the ANC caucus that was held on the 08 April 2022. The is a clear determination from some ANC Cllrs to destabilize council and neglect service delivery. It is against this background that we want Office of the Secretary General to look into this matter and intervene urgently.

All provisions of the ANC constitution relating to disciplinary processes must be activated so as to avoid this behavior to continue.

We further reject the supposed “ANC Branches Media Statement Kagisano-Molopo Sub Region” media release dated Tuesday, April 12, 2022 by someone titled himself or herself Cde Tumelo Olaotswe claiming the statement released is issued by Issued by ANC Branches Kagisano-Molopo Sub Region.

The statement issued is categorically rejected with the contempt it deserves.
