Request against occupying Kalpataru boy's and girl's hostel Tiptur to be converted into isolation centre

• Respected sir/ma'am,

This is regarding the recent decisions taken by the officials to convert Kalpataru boy's and/or girl's hostel Tiptur into isolation centre. We request you to not to use our hostels as isolation centre as almost every student has left behind his and her valuables in the hostel. It may be costly electronic gadgets such as laptops and computers or important college documents and passports and certificates etc. Moreover since we did not know about the lockdown at all before we vacated the hostel ,we didn't have time to properly pack our clothes and daily essentials. The hostel is like our second home which we had to vacate before the lockdown. We fear losing our belongings. Most of our beds are still undone and clothes we left to dry in our rooms are still outside unattended. Other appliances like electric iron, study lamps, water heaters etc are left unattended as we did not anticipate the lockdown at all. Students from other states such as Jammu and Kashmir are still residing safely in the hostel. In any case, risking their environment wil also be a problem. And after all this ends, we may not be able to go back to our hostel let alone touching anything until it is properly cleaned and treated. We can't throw away all that we have kept there. As per the covid-19 quarantine norms Our Hostel Bathroom are not attached Bathroom. Both the hostels are situated in residential area which is already against the quarantine norms. Here below is a screenshot of our campus and the nearby residential area . Due to VTU revaluation going on, the staff will also be visiting the college on a daily basis to do the documentation. All the rooms are locked by the students with personal locks which if broken will be illegal. Our Hostel bathroom is a common bathroom. Keeping all this in mind it is our request to you to not to use the hostel as isolation centre. Taking responsibility of lost or infected items will not solve our problems. We request your kind self to opt other options.This is a request from all the students. The order that we come and pick up all our things is also unreasonable because if all the hostelites come to pick things and we are asked to maintain social distance, then what if someone contacts corona virus when they travel to the hostel to get their things. All these orders are of no logical meaning.
