Request for Inclusive Hairstyle Policy for Non-Conforming and Non-Binary Students at HTS LOUIS Botha

We, the students of HTS Louis Botha , believe that every individual has the right to express themselves authentically and comfortably. Currently, our school's hairstyle policy restricts non-binary and non-conforming students from wearing inclusive hairstyles such as braids.

As a community, we value diversity, equity, and inclusion. We recognize that hairstyle policies can disproportionately affect students who do not identify as male or female. It is essential that our school provides a safe and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of their gender identity or expression.

We propose that the school administration revises the hairstyle policy to allow non-binary and non-conforming students to wear inclusive hairstyles like braids. This change will promote:

1. Self-expression and autonomy

2. Inclusivity and diversity

3. A safe and welcoming environment

We urge the school administration to consider our proposal and work towards creating a more inclusive and accepting community.
