Save Tugun Beachfront - Stop Seawall

Gold Coast City Council want to spend $2million of our ratepayers money to rip out the last remaining native trees and dunes and put in an artificial Seawall along Tugun foreshore. Tugun beachfront is a beautiful natural meeting place for families, beach goers, surfers and walkers.  The last remaining grove of Sheoak trees at the end of Wagawn Street Is under threat. These trees provide the only natural shade and a place for people to gather on the beach and enjoy this unique and special place. These trees provide much needed habitat and food for local birds and wildlife.  There are no other shaded areas along the beachfront like this. The Seawall will change the natural environment and destroy the protective dunes  forever.

Locals love this stretch of land and apparently one home owner has complained about the rare event of water in their below ground garage which is why the rock wall is going in. This is disgraceful at a cost of $2million dollars to rate payers, majority of locals do not want this ugly artificial rock wall to replace the existing natural beauty. This home owner can surely purchase a pump and solve their own self created issue.

Please sign this petition to STOP the seawall from going ahead and to SAVE Tugun foreshore from becoming an ugly artificial concreted beachfront with no natural shade for locals and wildlife to enjoy. Thank you
