Being a graduate from belding and now my children attending Greenville schools, this is a tradition and should still be one.

(Greenville, 2017-02-05)

#13

We have lost a lot of traditions and this is not one I want to lose

(Belding, 2017-02-05)

#14

Im signing because this was not a decision chosen by the community! Thanks to our superintendent for taking away our Redskin name and now our BIGGEST rivalry???

(Belding mi , 2017-02-05)

#15

I'm signing this because I grew up in Belding and the Belding vs Greenville game has always been a big part of our community. It's something everyone looks forward to and the kids love to play the game. The size of the players and the team shouldn't matter for thier sportsmanship. The game is fun to watch no matter who wins or who loses. It's one of our biggest times to show our team spirit for football. I find it a shame to take this experience away from the students who look forward to this every year.

(Belding , 2017-02-05)

#16

We have had alot of years and i played aginst them years ago and there has been a size differents what belding needs to make itnhappen and to make the kids not feel bad is to be able to have a better coaching staff as a head coach some one that has the mentality to drive work ha r d focuse disapline and the know how to win i as a family person and have a son he is mad cuz theu wont be able to play them and he wont play with belding no more means they took a redskins name away as he yas played as that also for three years and has respect for them as a native American we want to see this go one for us and for the school and people to ha e as a rivals good hard compittion

(Belding , 2017-02-05)

#24

Its time to take and keep our TRUE Belding PRIDE. Play this game and take back our REDSKINS

(cedar Springs , 2017-02-05)

#26

I graduated from Belding High School i have been a Redskin and always will be this game needs to stand it has been a rival game for years

(Belding , 2017-02-05)

#27

It is an honor to be redskin. Fighting for pride. Rediculous that it has to change because of some predegious people who think a name is offensive. Unbelievable!

(Ionia, 2017-02-05)

#28

At least make it to 100, so many students and families are so looking forward to it.

(Greenville , 2017-02-05)

#36

I'm signing this petition because I grew up in Belding watching the love the football teams had for one another, and even though Belding is not always the winning team they are still a team! These kids works their butts off to prepare for this one game, and that shouldn't be taken away from them.

(Sheridan, 2017-02-05)

#38

I don't believe in giving up and know these kids love the game and want to continue to play.

(Harrison , 2017-02-05)

#39

The games should go on....

(Belding, 2017-02-05)

#40

It's tradition

(Greenville, 2017-02-05)

#43

Because it's ridiculous that they are using "player safety" as a reason. They just don't know how to develop a program to compete, so instead of getting better they just wanna back out of the tough games and play little schools.

(Belding, 2017-02-05)

#44

Its tradition. Belding`s had their fair share of wins or greenville as well as greenville having their fair share. There's no need to take away the most looked forward game of the season.

(Belding , 2017-02-05)

(Belding, 2017-02-05)

#46

This is the best game of the season and we all look forward to it. It also draws the biggest crowd.

(Greenville , 2017-02-05)

#50

As an alumnus on Belding High School I support keeping the rivalry game a tradition! I may not live in the town anymore but support Belding teams!

(Hinesville, 2017-02-05)

#52

Our kids look forward to the tradition of this good old rivalry!

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#54

Belding is my hometown and the Belding vs Greenville game is and has been a long standing tradition for the town and our family.

(Hubbardston , 2017-02-06)

#57

It's an incredible small town tradition 99 years in the making.

(Greenville, 2017-02-06)

#59

Belding alumni

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#60

I'm signing because this game should be played.

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#62

I'm signing because I think it's stupid that the new superintendent thinks he can change the rivalry between Belding & Greenville. 100th year anniversary and he wants to quit now, I don't think so!

(Belding Mi, 2017-02-06)

#73

My 2 boys play and they think this is terrible.

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#74

My Grandsons go to school in Belding. I think the school should keep the tradition and I think they should have never changed the mascot.

(Muskegon, 2017-02-06)

#76

I'm signing this petition because I do not think that the superintendent had the right to make that decision without consulting the people of the city, school and the students.

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#77

I am a Belding alumni and I look forward to the Greenville vs. Belding game every year.

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#79

Cause I believe in the big game. can'tgive up hope.

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#83

As a Belding alum this game is the biggest game of the year for us, we may have been down the last few years, but to be the best, you have to beat the best! I'd hope the team stands with tradition and sits out the first game of the year to send a message to the school board, and high school facility that all need to be replaced. #oncearedskinalwaysaredskin

(Charlotte, NC, 2017-02-06)

#87

I am from greenville and i think strongly this tradition should continue

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#93

I think these kids need to learn is not to quit because an adult said it's not good for them. This has been a tradition for 99 yrs and for this idiot to change it is wrong. We've had many losses against Greenville, and many wins as well. The community, players and parents should have been involved in the decision. But no that wasn't done in what someone called a diplomatic solution. Just play them.

(Fenwick, 2017-02-06)

#94

I am signing because I graduated from Belding and I know my whole class looked forward to this game every year, and I could not imagine how the students in High School now missing out on this experience that's been going on for almost 100 years.

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#95

I believe in keeping traditions!!!!!!!

(Belding , 2017-02-06)

#96

Let's celebrate a tradition the cities have created!

(Gowen, 2017-02-06)

#100

I'm signing because this is a game that should never be in question. It's a tradition for both of the communities. Taking this game away will tear apart Belding even more.

(Belding , 2017-02-06)

#102

Looked forward to this game every year it brought two communities together, why stop it now!

(Stanton, 2017-02-06)

#103

Graduate 50 years ago.

(Gowen, 2017-02-06)

#110

My son plays for Greenville rocket and this is one of the oldest longest lasting traditions in the state.

(Greenville, 2017-02-06)

#111

the community should have been involved in this decision.

(Chattanooga, TN, 2017-02-06)

#112

I am a belding alumni and when I went there we were not afraid of a good game win or loose all your teaching these kids is it's OK to give up without a fight

(Fenwick, 2017-02-06)

#120

1, if tought the fundamentals of football, 2, have good coaching 3, have the heart to play 4, shouldn't matter size of team or player!! Keep the tradition going!!!

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#123

I signed this because you had no right to change a tradition that has been going on for over 100 years. you screw us right before our 100th game? Seriously you have your priorities in the wrong place. We could have showcased our new mascot at this game, it could have been a huge draw. please disregard the spelling errors in the main petition as I did not write it and have no idea on how to get them to correct their spelling. sincerely Robyn Wright Lynema

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#126

IT'S ABOUT TWO LOCAL COMMUNITIES COMING TOGETHER TO HAVE SOME FUN.

(BELDING, 2017-02-06)

#127

I went to Belding all through schoo

(Greenville , 2017-02-06)

#133

We have traditions here. We can't do anything about the mascot being changed, that is on a specific mother that just couldn't let something go. As for the football game- yes Greenville is a larger district, they have great facilities, but their kids are no bigger than ours. See here in Belding, what we lack in size we make up in pride.

(BELDING, 2017-02-06)

#135

We need to keep the tradition going. This is about bringing the 2 communities together.

(Greenville, 2017-02-06)

#137

Grew up in Belding. Beleive in my hometown. It's not a matter of win or lose. It's tradition and pride in doing their best even against the odds. You never know, sometimes the underdog wins☺

(Greenville , 2017-02-06)

#139

Former player of Belding class of 90.

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#140

I believe the traditional rivalry should continue.

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#141

I am and always will be a Belding REDSKIN

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#142

If the players wanna play.... LET THEM PLAY

(Belding, 2017-02-06)

#145

I'm signing because this is a tradition and the game needs to be played.

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#146

We have played Belding ever since I can remember and we are coming up to our 100th game and I'm an upcoming senior and would like to play Belding for my First/Last game of my Varsity Year

(Greenville , 2017-02-07)

#147

I grew up in Belding and graduated from Greenville. This game was the hi lite of the year.

(Hudson, 2017-02-07)

#148

This is a rivalry game and there is no need to get rid of it. Greenville never pulled the plug when Belding was on a winning streak!!

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#149

Michael Jessup

(Greenville, 2017-02-07)

#150

I think they should at least celebrate the 100 year tradition. To many traditions are being tossed aside.

(Belding , 2017-02-07)

#153

I'm a Redskin

(Howard City , 2017-02-07)

#155

I feel as if a little rivalry between neighboring towns is good for the development of our youth. Win or lose its still a rivalry.

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#157

I have expressed my concern but everyone needs to sign this. This need to happen.

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#159

Played football for Greenville and tradition is kept in families and strong school districts

(Greenville , 2017-02-07)

#160

I don't agree with this decision. If anything, this should be left up to the kids who play Greenville.

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#164

My son broke 3 records in his senior year as a REDSKIN. He played his heart out as a REDSKIN. Our ancestors ate native American and this is a slap in our faces. He was the 5th generation to attend this school and to play against Greenville in the annual football game. It saddens our entire family to see such horrible changes being made to our history.

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#166

I am a graduate of Belding and know how important this game is to the students. To stop this tradition especially for the 100th meeting is unbelievable. If you are to worried about student athletes being over exerted or injured how about you look at ensuring the coaches don't focus on seats in players and play everyone one.

(Battle creek, 2017-02-07)

#169

This tradition has been such
A positive in my parents, my siblings, my children and my grandchildrens lives. We have made friends who are Greenville fans and have enjoyed the rivalry by taking turns having tailgate parties. Whether playing, marching with the band or being a cheerleader it has been a wonderful memory for us all. Such a simple thing has brought so much to so many. The reasoning for this decision baffles me.

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#174

I disagree with Belding's decision to pull out of this game! It's tradition and with the last few years of clock towers, mascot changing and now this?!? This isn't even belding anymore!

(Belding , 2017-02-07)

#177

This is a tradition leave it alone and let them play. That is the game of the year. Someone just wants to change everything about thw school.. Leave the name alone and let the kids play.

(Palo, 2017-02-07)

#179

The mascot should stay, the superintendent should go.

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#180

It's just wrong to take this game away from everyone from players to us alumni to all the fans of this game.

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#184

I want ro see this game...the tradition...100 years

(Greenville , 2017-02-07)

#185

I went to Belding High and this is complete crap that they stopped it.

(Ionia, 2017-02-07)

#186

It's tradition!

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#187

It's the 100th year, you should be celebrating it instead of canceling it! If you want to make changes, that's fine, just recognize this has been a tradition being celebrated Long before Any of you were ever around! Be respectful to the people who have lived in this town for years, and their families. To the kids, parents and grand parents who have grown up here, watching all the changes be made throughout the years. Change is good, changing a school mascot over ridiculous allegations is not good change. That's tedious and a waste of time, money and resources. I'm sure your efforts could be put twords something actually important.
The right thing to do for the people is Let them have this last year against Greenville, then make your changes.

(Belding , 2017-02-07)

#188

It should continue

(Fenwick, 2017-02-07)

#189

Because I agree 100% with the statement of the petition

(Belding , 2017-02-07)

#190

I am signing because everyone but a mere 2% of our community doesn't!

(Belding , 2017-02-07)

#191

It will be my senior year and its tradition

(Greenville , 2017-02-07)

#192

I think it's a terrible to take away a rivalry game. Let's be honest if we can't beat Greenville than the team isn't good enough to advance though the playoffs. We haven't had a coach since Irv that is a motaviator or kids the max potential out of the athletes

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#196

We need to continue the Belding/Greenville football game. It's a tradition written in stone.

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#199

I wish they had done this for the mascot also. I still think it should have stayed as Redskins!

(Belding, 2017-02-07)

#200

I realize safety is #1..but we are losing the chance to retire the Redskins with respect of ou past..I feel we have become followers not leaders, showing our kids ..when it gets too tough, just Quit..

(Belding, 2017-02-07)
