Save North Queensland Equestrian Centre

This is a Brillant Equestrian Centre and needs to be Saved

(Wooderson , 2017-12-13)

#4

the centre offers safe facilities for us to ride our bikes, watch horse events and ride our horses. The most appealing aspect about the centre is that i can use the main arena (ideal surface) at any time and not worry about disrupting others (dust). the past year we have also put in hours with Donna to develop the grounds. the grounds have improved 10 fold over the past 2 years and i feel the community has more need for safe multipurpose recreational grounds, than one land owner needs to extend his pad.

(Bluewater, 2017-12-13)

#10

A facility I use.
Ita a great a great facility, go sell land else where

(Townsville, 2017-12-13)

#12

This is a great facility enjoyed by so many

(Charters towers, 2017-12-13)

#15

We need this equestrian centre. There are hardly any facilities as it is for riders.

(Townsville, 2017-12-13)

#16

Very sad to see Council making this decision. Our community uses and appreciates this facility, one of the few that are available and well-equipped to provide a variety of equestrian options. I would hope that Council will really review the future impacts of this decision.

(Bowen, 2017-12-13)

#17

The people that run the club have put a lot of hours blood sweat and tears to get the grounds where they are today. As there are not a lot of places where people can take there horses they can rely on Bluewater. Please let them keep the grounds as they are.

(Townsville , 2017-12-13)

#18

Selling off parts of the grounds will cause issues with the neighbors house so close to the arena. We will loose to much parking/camping areas. Will limit the future use of the grounds.

(Townsville, 2017-12-13)

#22

The children need it

(Queensland , 2017-12-13)

#29

When I am able to ride regularly, I want to be able to use the facilities. The centre closing down would be a huge blow to the equestrian community

(Mount Low, 2017-12-14)

#30

I've been a part of this town and area for a long time. Was a past committee member. I've been following and supporting the centre since a dedicated team resurrected it and turned it into an active, safe and popular horse sports centre. There is nothing like it for horse enthusiasts in Townsville as it caters for a wide range of disciplines. It offers training, encouragement and support to riders from Townsville and surrounding communities. No notice was given Shame on our council.

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#32

It would be extremely detrimental to lose this ground for the Equestrian Centre. Townsville most definitely needs this Equestrian Centre . This Equestrian Centre is built on passion, dedication and hard work.

(Townsville , 2017-12-14)

#40

I’m signing because horse people need places to ride in a safe environment as well.

(Townsville , 2017-12-14)

#46

Bluewater Equestrian Centre is 1 of the only places in this town that I can take my horse to and have all the parking, arenas, water, shade, safety....the list goes on!
I travel over 70kms to use this fabulous facility as do many others.
Townsville has a whole lot of horse people & the council doesn’t provide enough centres and for them to sell to a private buyer is absolutely disgraceful....

(TOWNSVILLE , 2017-12-14)

#47

donna has worked so hard to get this equestrian centre up and going. It would be a shame to see it closed.
It's so good for the horsey people in and around Townsville to come together

(Hobart, 2017-12-14)

#50

We love this facility! So much work has been done here and would be a shame Townsville equestrians lost this land so someone could put a house on it. Please reconsider.

(Ayr, 2017-12-14)

#52

Because Townsville needs this centre, it's getting kids out of there rooms and bringing families together

(Townsville , 2017-12-14)

#53

As a former resident of Townsville, and someone who still frequents the area often and someone involved in horses I think it's a very sad thought that such a good club could be impacted by this

(Innisfail, 2017-12-14)

#55

I utilize the grounds with my children when competing on horses their throughout the year. It's well maintained and acredit to the club.

(Bamboo Creek , 2017-12-14)

#56

I'm signing because I use this equestrian centre. It's one of three only public places we can ride our horses locally.

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#58

I'm signing as this is Townsvilles only council operated equestrian centre. Every other town has an undercover arena and townsville has a pitiful offering for equestrians its embarassing. To lose half of this site is apalling. Council should instead be investing for a covered arena!!!

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#59

Fantastic facilities for teaching my children to ride out and about.
We need more facilities like bluewater in NQ.

(hervey range, 2017-12-14)

#60

I’m a regular user of the centre and chose our rental property based on its proximity to this facility. Anything that reduces the usability of this facility would be a harsh blow to my family and our lifestyle

(Bluewater , 2017-12-14)

#61

We have put a lot of time and money into this facility with no financial help from the local government. It is about time the Equestrian sport was supported by Government agencies

(Charters Towers, 2017-12-14)

#64

I travel from Charters Towers with my daughter to compete at this club because it is the only club within a days drive that offers the events we compete in. It would be a crying shame if it were impacted in any way. It is growing every year and is a great family friendly club.

(Charters Towers, 2017-12-14)

#67

I support this valuable community service

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#68

I signed this petition, as I use this fantastic facility and it would be a huge disappointment to the whole equestrian community if the facility was limited and could not continue to grow as it has over the last 12 months.

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#70

It’s a great community centre and only one in the area

(Townsville , 2017-12-14)

#71

This facility has been the source of a lot of enjoyment for my myself, my family and many friends for the past two years. I think it would be detrimental to the horse community of Townsville to loose a club that has been growing annually and providing a safe place that horses and people can come together to learn and enjoy leisure time together.

(Annandale , 2017-12-14)

#72

Fed up with the way our once beautiful city and family lifestyle is being controlled by developers and our lack lustre city council, that cares only for a fast buck. Once councillors were elected by the people for the people ,not any more.

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#73

Originally from Bluewater. The grounds are one of the BEST in the Townsville region. If offers a safe location for horse & rider. With more time & continous TLC that it is currently getting, these grounds have the potential to hold some serious Equestrian events for riders of QLD. Wake up Council!

(Pittsworth, 2017-12-14)

#74

I'm originally from Townsville and have used this facility before and believe the equestrian community up there don't deserve to lose any of it.

(Caboolture , 2017-12-14)

#77

This is one of the only ground in Townsville that is not affiliated with Pony Club Association Queensland and has stabling, multiple arenas, and camping facilities. Within the last two years, the grounds have improved significantly and are getting continual use. With already limited areas to ride around the North side of town due to development and safety concerns, it would be sad to see any designated riding area being sold off.

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#79

We as horse riders are loosing our facilities it is really hard to find places to ride these days and its not fair that councils and governments keep resuming the little we have

(Mt Larcom , 2017-12-14)

#80

I believe in community and a free way of life not the financial stand over tactics of our current government

(Albion, 2017-12-14)

#81

I believe this is a great resource for Townsville Equestrian sport is growing in popularity in Queensland and this facility is needed now and in the future.

(gin gin, 2017-12-14)

#86

It is ridiculous to sell public land at the expense of many, to benefit the very, very few. A lot of hard work, hopes and dreams have gone in to Bluewater equestrian facility and out would be a shame if it cannot be turned into the best possible place it can be.

(Ingham, 2017-12-14)

#88

A community already struggling to keep our kids out of trouble and the parents sane and you the council want to take away an amazing tool that helps being the community together. Shame on the council.

(I, 2017-12-14)

#90

I think it is absurd the council has decided to cripple this fledgling club. Once you sell this property you cannot get it back yet it is vital to the clubs future plans (which will benefit countless Townsville horse owners).

Further, if the prospective buyer gets to build the house he plans right next to the existing arena you can guarantee he will then complain about noise and dust, rendering the whole park as wasteland.

Come on council - support the unselfish efforts of the people trying to build a complex for the use of many over the selfish desire of an individual!!!

(Bluewater , 2017-12-14)

#91

This public parkland is utilised by a variety of community members, clubs and groups. Both for horse recreation, fitness and general public walking/use. The sale of this portion boarding existing facilities will result in noise/dust complaints & prevent further development of the grounds. In addition to this, if passed, a house will be built and further subdivision of the private property will occur. The will unltimately result in the ceasing of activities to appease local residents. This facility has endless potential for growth & has been supporting local economics as users are travelling as far as Cloncurry to utilise & compete here

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#97

To whom it may concern,

I’m signing this petition as this Equestrian Centre is a huge hub for not only the Townsville Equestrian Community but also North Queensland. It has so much potential and has been worked on very hard by Donna Hudson and all kinds of volunteers who love being a part of this large community. There is nothing else like it in Townsville and is very much loved.

People would have to go to Charters Towers to get anything close to what this centre offers and is developing into and having to travel 2-3hrs to do what we do on various weekends would then make it unattainable as many people would not be able to afford the time and fuel money to tow heavy trailers that far and spend the extra time doing so.

It would be extremely saddening to see it sold off for a quick buck with so many people of the community put out in a very big way. This centre is very dear to so many people and their families and is a very large draw card for many Defence and Mining families who are deciding whether to move here or not as it offers a safe and fun community atmosphere for their wives and children to enjoy their hobby or get into horse riding as well as the new additions of events that are constantly being added like Mountain Trail or Cowboy Dessage which until now have not been available anywhere in NQ until now.

Please do not sell the land that forces the closure of the centre. Doing so would be a kick in the guts to the large community who have spent so long building it into what it is today and what it will become in the future.

Thankyou for your time,

Kind regards,
Tascheena O’Mara

(Townsville , 2017-12-14)

#103

Donna and her team of volunteers have done so much

(canberra, 2017-12-14)

#105

I was a member of this club. Only left because off moving.

(Burine, 2017-12-14)

#108

I am a competitor who has frequented events held at these grounds. The work that has gone into improving what was previously derelict is incredible and it seems now it has been dressed up, it is being admired by neighbours to purchase! This land was donated to equestrian sports decades ago and any proposal to sell in a partial amount is disgusting. At the very least, some compensation has to be paid to the club who has worked solely to improve the grounds.

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#109

I am sick and tired of local ,state and federal governments shafting the little guy and dictating all terms and conditions to suit themselves. There is nothing to do within the immediate area for the youth and the people who just want a place they can relax. It's time people stood up for their rights and tell council you only looking at this as a money making issue no other reason unless it's to pay for the whole ADANI wreck you have put the city in debt for.

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#110

I do not want any part of the North Queensland Equine Centre to be sold off for the personal gain of one individual which brings no constructive quality to the greater community and surrounding areas. This facility is used by many disciplines within the equine community, both from the Townsville areas and by visiting enthusiast. It brings opportunity for passion, integrity, partnership and growth to occur in a town that is struggling to keep the focus of our youth away from unsavoury activity. This centre provides families with a safe and local area to meet, ride, learn and connect. There is no benefit gained by impeding on the future development of a great facility that has had years of unwavering volunteered dedication poured into establishing such a reputable riding centre. Let it flourish and become the nationally recognised facility it deserves to be.
I am confident that the leaders of Townsville will recongise the heartfelt plea from the community to not superfically aquire some pocket money by selling off one of Townsvilles diamonds in the rough.
Support from the community for political leaders that do not stand up to represent the community, will be short lived.

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#113

I am a member of the Bluewater Equestrian Centre and would like to see the facilities stay open and be able to build further to create a facility of high standard for all to use. So much work has been put into this facility by volunteers, lots of hard work and labour by people in their spare time to rebuild and recreate a facility for all to use for recreation. There is no other facility like this in Townsville and what is planned for the future has the potential to create a facility that could cater for people living in Townsville and North Queensland. A facility that could bring great opportunities to Townsville.

(Townsville , 2017-12-14)

#114

I’m signing because I’d hate to see somthing that a club has worked so hard for just be taken, we horsey people are running out of places to ride if you take things like this away

(Mackay , 2017-12-14)

#118

This facility needs to stay for the community use.

(Townsville , 2017-12-14)

#119

Don’t sell off our community land

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#120

This will negatively impact the equestrian clubs and people who use this facility.

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#121

8ve ridden at this club many of times and it would be a shame to lose another club

(townsville, 2017-12-14)

#123

It ill be good for council to do something for the community instead of selling off the assets for their own bank account, this is what people pay rates for

(Condon , 2017-12-14)

#124

Excellent facilities for horse training and competitions

(Townsville, 2017-12-14)

#128

This is a great centre and is a great asset to the area.It should not be sold of to developers or private parties.

(Proserpine, 2017-12-15)

#130

Keep the bluewater equestrian center

(Townsville Qld, 2017-12-15)

#132

I am a local resident of blue water and having co ordinated many equestrian events from this facility over the last 18 years know that this facility is well supported by many equestrian clubs in Townsville. It is the only equestrian facility accommodating dressage grass and closed arenas in far north Queensland locally. This is a recreation facility used by the wider community and was used to open the northern beaches festival with a three day sponsored equestrian event over 200 competitors shame on the qld govt and council for wanting to sell it

(Townsville, 2017-12-15)

#134

We need this for training and events

(Townsville , 2017-12-15)

#135

I am an equestrian and we are so limited with facilities,We Need this area because it versatile for all horse disciplines,

(Townsville , 2017-12-15)

#141

I believe this should stay parkland for all of the community to use not to be sold off to a neighbour to build a second residence on

(townsville , 2017-12-15)

#142

This club is the best thing that has happened in Townsville . It cannot be taken away from the community as it would be a great loss .

(Proserpine , 2017-12-16)

#143

Townsville needs a dedicated equestrian centre .

(Townsville , 2017-12-16)

#146

I don't want this area developed

(Townsville , 2017-12-16)

#150

I would love to help the centre grow, I have watched it grow these couple years all the progress that has been put into it. I love riding my horse there, it's the only place in my side of town. It's safe and the people there are lovely

(Townsville, 2017-12-16)

#152

I have seen for myself the recent redevelopment of the equine centre into a safe horse riding space for all abilities and horse sports. Nothing else locally available to horse riding clubs locally.

(Black River Townsville, 2017-12-17)

#153

For the people and not the prostituting council that we have.

(Townsville, 2017-12-17)

#154

I use & support this club on a regular basis even though it is a 6 hour trip for me. As it is the only venue like it anywhere near me. All its members have worked so hard to get the center working again. We need it to stay as it is. Thank you

(Proserpine , 2017-12-17)

#157

I think Bluewater needs this centre and Donna Hudson has worked very hard for the community so they have somewhere like this for all events.

(Townsville, 2017-12-17)

#158

We have worked so hard to bring to life this once derelict left to rot equestrian centre. We have very few places to enjoy our PASSION meet NEW FRIENDS engage the LOCAL community in our joined interest. In a culture of SCREENS PLEASE LET US TEACH OUR KIDS THE OUTSIDE WORLD in a safe place.. PLEASE.. SO many variety of horse activities are enjoyed here.. so much more can be done . IF WE BUILD IT BIGGER THEY WILL COME

(Townsville, 2017-12-17)

#159

This facility is a valuable asset to the North Queensland community, closure if this club will have a detrimental effect on the young horse riding enthusiasts of the area. Townsville had a critical youth justice problem already and taking one more good facility away will only exaceribate the issue

(Charters Towers, 2017-12-18)

#160

Save the Bluewater Equestrian Centre!

(Townsville , 2017-12-18)

#161

these people have worked there arses off for this land and we require an arenas that we can join in and have fun we maintain this land

(charters towers , 2017-12-19)

#162

I ride my horses here with my children two of which are special needs(autism)by reducing the amount of area for parking of vehicles and floats directly affects the ability of getting government grants to help improve this center

(Bluewater park , 2017-12-19)

#166

This is an important centre for many people young and old alike. Important to have places like this in any city

(Townsville, 2017-12-27)

#168

The North Queensland Equestrian Center is an absolute asset to the community. It attracts people from all over the state and interstate to the area. also provided an all weather area for training and tuition .

(Brandon, 2018-01-06)

#170

Facility like this need to be kept for the enjoyment of all not sold off or traded for someones commercial gain. This is a community reserve not a cattle property. Keep it for the people !!

(Ingham, 2018-01-23)
