I’m signing because, cheps, I’d like to improve my oral skills

(Luxembourg , 2018-01-12)

#223

I got the bac this year

(Brebre, 2018-01-12)

Practice makes perfect
Everyone learns differently and so there should be an effort to individualise teaching and learning

(Christchurch , 2018-01-12)

#233

I was in this position last year and I dont see why they dont have the same right as us in this aspect.

(Dublin, 2018-01-12)

Since the initiation of the European Schools, the mock oral exams have been available for students and we should be too

(Bertrange, 2018-01-12)

#235

The school really just want to fail it’s students it seems. Making it harder and harder for them to just do their exams, it’s so disgusting! In danish schools you have several orals over the years, which is already much better than throwing it in your face once in your last year of school. Ridiculous.

I saw the positive affect it had on our eldest daughter last year! It gave her more confidence, she was calming down a bit and took - to a certain extent - away the fear of the BAC!!!

Students of the European schools deserve the right to feel prepared and confident in their first oral exam, instead of experiencing the exam for the first time with the influence of nerves which can have a drastic effect on their marks which could be easily avoided by having mock exams.
I personally benefited a lot from the mock oral exams I had as a student at the European school, and feel that everyone else should have the same opportunity.

Mock orals are important for the preparation process

I am personally affected as my son is a student of EEA.

I passed my BAC in 2016 at the ES of Munich, and I can definitely recall how useful it has been for me to get familiar with the idea of spending 20 minutes in front of my own teacher showing what I had learnt in class. Moreover, this helped me increase my self-confidence and fight off my anxiety - I'll always remember how I started to cry in front of the teacher during my very first practice oral exam. It would definitely have been very embarrassing if I had cried during the actual exam, right? (Luckily, I did a lot better in the real exams.) For me, there is no valid reason to stop the pupils from being allowed to practice a skill that we don't get enough practice for anyway. Also, I suggest that the European Schools should organise some sort of workshop in s6/s7 to get the pupils to know the functioning of oral exams and to make them practice their public speaking skills in general, as well as their ability to hold a 10-minute presentation on a subject they are supposed to know and answer to questions for 10 minutes, as they are required to do in the exam. We were told all the time that we had an excellent level, but what is an excellent level worth without good oral skills? I think that the pupils of the European Schools should have a right to practice for their BAC oral exams.

Practise oral exams are a crucial aspect for the development and preparation of the European Baccalaureate. In the 7 years of secondary, students never once practise the sort of skills and techniques that are required when confronted with a bac oral exam. This is why the mock orals are extremely important and should remain.

(Brussels, 2018-01-12)

#287

The European bac is already bad enough, stop making it worse smh

(Luxembourg , 2018-01-12)

#294

I need to practice my orals and this has been very helpful for the previous years

(Frankfurt , 2018-01-12)

#302

I need practice for the oral exams. Doing it once or twice in a class is NOT enough!

(Luxembourg, 2018-01-12)

#303

I believe it's only fair

(Eschborn, 2018-01-12)

#317

I’m signing because I believed that it is our right to have a mock oral just as much as the students before us did. The BAC grade people get is very important to many people

(Frankfurt , 2018-01-12)

#321

It is literally the best time of the school year to do mock orals. In that time between the written and the oral examinations you can just focus on the upcoming oral exams and there is no better way to practice than doing mock orals.

(Frankfurt am Main, 2018-01-12)

#324

Mock trials are really important, especially as we never had orals before, and they are our only opportunity to try and improve ourselves before the bac. It would be really bad for us to do our first oral at the actual bac, and have a bad grade just because we didn't understand what we really have to do. I do know it is a lot of work for the teachers. However, I think we could find another solution rather than just prohibit mock orals.

(Bruxelles, 2018-01-12)

#326

Mock orals before the written BAC are inconvenient since students will be focusing on the written exam

(Frankfurt am Main, 2018-01-12)

#337

I'm taking the history oral for the bac and this training session are crucial.

(Brussels, 2018-01-12)

#346

Because there's no reason to forbid it + students get better chance and know better what they have to expect + it would in total be 5 weeks without class before oral exam which is very long + the student gets less stressed by the exam + it gives the student motivation to study + ...

(Frankfurt, 2018-01-12)

#350

Because the Rule change puts the Students at a disadvantage and there was no problem with the way the system was before.

(Karlsruhe, 2018-01-12)

#351

No valid reason for the change. Seems ridiculous, counterintuitive and downright unfair!

(Karlsruhe, 2018-01-12)

#353

Used to go to ESF and the mock exams are really really helpful!

(Delft, 2018-01-12)

#357

I’m taking the BAC this year.

(Brussels , 2018-01-12)

#358

I neeeeed my mock

(Frankfurt, 2018-01-12)

#360

I’m signing because I believe us students have the right to be prepared for our orals. Taking an oral practice is like studying for an exam, it is important and necessary to pass and get a good mark.

(Strasbourg , 2018-01-12)

#361

Because next year I will graduate and we never actually did orals so the actual oral exam would be our first one without any practice

(Frankfurt , 2018-01-12)

#374

Because its ridiculous that this is happening and on such a short notice

(Alicante, 2018-01-12)

#378

I'm signing this petition because I am a student in the 7th year that will be directly influenced with the sudden change. Students should have the right to practice as much as possible before their Baccalaureate.

(Alkmaar , 2018-01-12)

#391

This rule is ridiculous and we have a right to practice for our oral exams more than a month before they actually occur. Mocks will serve hardly any purpose if they take place so far in advance, when we already have to be prepping for our written exams.

(Varese, 2018-01-12)

#394

I want to practice my oral bac

(ALicante , 2018-01-12)

#395

I’m in year 7 and I don’t want to fail my bac

(Oxford, 2018-01-12)
