Opposition to the proposed mandatory Refuse collection in the RM of St. Clements

Comments

#1

I do not want garbage pick up

(St. clements, 2018-01-11)

#3

I do not wish to have mandatory refuse and recycling pick-up.

(East Selkirk, Manitoba, 2018-01-11)

#4

for many reasons

(east selkirk, 2018-01-11)

#5

I do not want curb side garbage pickup. I do not want these fees added to my property tax bill.

(East Selkirk, MB, 2018-01-11)

#8

Already at my max for expenses and can't afford anymore
Also not convinced that the cost won't be increasing much higher than proposed.

(East Selkirm, 2018-01-12)

#9

I oppose this bylaw. I don't need to provide bowling pins on the highway for drivers to destroy and me to pay for!

(RM of St. Clements, 2018-01-12)

#11

I don’t need waste removal

(St.clements , 2018-01-12)

#12

I don’t need this

(St. Clements , 2018-01-12)

#13

Not beneficial to us at all. Drive way is too long, would have to load into the truck just to take it to the roadside.

(Narol, 2018-01-12)

#14

I filled out the online survey and told them I wanted nothing to do with garbage pick up nor do I want to 'pitch in' for others to get it.I am zoned A80 , rural...farm...I should be allowed to opt out. I don't care if my neighbors get it. that's their right and they should pay for the privilege. I am not a city or even small town. I do not have a paved road, a light on the street. I get my water from my well and my sewer pumped out by a truck { septic}... this does not make sense to me. my waste is small, I grow my own vegetables make my own spaghetti sauce and make my own soup. very little comes from a can or a jar. which are taken for recycling. I haven't seen a landfill for 2 years now. I do not make much waste. The taxes are high enough already. but to be forced to pay for a service I do not want or need is Ludacris

(east selkirk, 2018-01-12)

#15

I didn't get a survey or I would have completed it.
Did the RM just implement the Q code program?
My family has more recycling than garbage; about 3 bags of recycling a week plus large boxes. If I have to go to the transfer station once a week for recycling, does it not make sense to take my garbage with me?
My driveway is rock, not smooth pavement and I don't even have a curb/shoulder. I have a narrow driveway and a ditch. Do you think I want to come home to a drowned garbage bin after the wind knocks it in a full ditch of water?
Please tell me how a garbage truck going up and down the streets constantly will not damage the roads in the long run, costing us more money in the long run.
Please tell me why I moved out of the city, to a quiet country life, just to have to see and hear a garbage truck now.

(RM St Clements, 2018-01-12)

#16

I'm tired of being pushed around by the RM from bullshit bylaws to forced garbage pickup. I don't need or want garbage pickup and I certainly don't want to pay for something I don't need or want.

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-12)

#19

I don't think we should pay for something that is being made mandatory. Just like the grey water removal system and municipal water hook up. We have had multiple issues with both at our own cost and we're still buying bottled water

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-12)

#21

No benefit to our household.

(, 2018-01-12)

#23

There is already private collection in place, and companies to hire for whoever wants it, we prefer to support local small businesses. Our area is open with no protection from wild animals, roaming dogs or wind - will the rm clean the mess? Our road is already deteriorating, will the rm fix the potholes that eill be made by garbage trucks going up and down our road weekly?
We are a mainly recycling based household - wouldn't make sense for weekly garbage and bi weekly recycling

(East selkirk, 2018-01-12)

#25

I don't need curb side pick up for dogs and crows to scavage throught waiting to be picked up.
Or hi winds to blow across the hi way into the neighbours yard or back into mine.

I have seen arwas in Lockport and east st paul with garbage all over the hi ways due to these facts!

(St clements, 2018-01-12)

#27

I oppose this mandatory refuse recyling pickup RM of St. Clements is proposing. I would like to have a choice regarding refuse collection.

(Gonor, 2018-01-12)

#29

Don't need it. Have a long driveway of gravel. Dogs in the area, coyotes, wolves, skunks, BEARS, BEARS. Who will pick up the mess in the ditch, who will unbury the bins after the plow comes by. Just a big invitation for the wild and domestic animals. I am not residential, I am zoned A80. Why do I have to pay for the town of East Selkirk.

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-12)

#30

I have no interest in having this deducted off my taxes, people should have a choice whether they want it or not.

(East Selkirk , 2018-01-12)

#32

Not only will I not use the service as my driveway is over 500 feet long to the road. I also own The Garbage Man, and have been operating since 2000

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-12)

#33

I prefer to manage my own garbage. I have a 400 foot long drive way and it would be physically difficult to haul my garbage to the end of the driveway

(St. Clements, 2018-01-12)

#34

I burn my garbage, and don't want my taxes to go up an extra $100 a yr,the municipality doesn't hardy do any conda work around Peltz Dr..There crazy in the head...
They can't even cream the road properly in winter, its pure ice down where I live, shame on you R.M of St.Clements...

(Selkirk, 2018-01-12)

#39

I’m not interested in curb side garbage/ recycling pickup

(Gonor , 2018-01-13)

#40

Not required. Prefer to support local small businesses

(East selkirk , 2018-01-13)

#41

Everyone should have a choice and the number of respondents to the survey was too low to determine the want or need for such service.

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-13)

#42

I do not want curbside pick up

(St. Clements municipality (Selkirk), 2018-01-13)

#43

I also don't believe we should be forced to go along with this proposal. I currently pay about $15.00 to $20.00 annually for garbage disposal because I bring it to the landfill myself. Why should I agree to pay upwards of $100.00 annually so someone else can pick it up.

(St. Clements, 2018-01-13)

#44

This cost is way more than we are currently paying, and I don't believe that we should be forced to participate. It should be optional. And why waste money and wages on this. There are so many better places to invest it.

(St. Clements, 2018-01-13)

#50

We live in a rural environment, with raccoons, coyotes, bears, & dogs running loose. They do not need feeding stations to destroy & distribute garbage everywhere. Our laneway is half a km long, & supports 3 residences. Encourage RECYCLING, not garbage pick-up. Most of our neighbours use St Andrews for recycling. Ease of use, & accessible 24/7. This is not the city. You do not move to St Clements to pay lower taxes than the city, then demand the same services as the city.

(RM of St Clements, 2018-01-13)

#51

The distance to the road from the house does not make it feasible 4/10 km
No road shoulders for the bins.
Way too many wild animals.

(RM St Clements, 2018-01-13)

#52

As a resident of East Selkirk, I oppose to the waste and recycling collection by the RM.

(East Selkirk , 2018-01-13)

#53

I'm signing because I do not like the forced acceptance of the service, I also do not believe they will be able to provide this service for the money quoted and also feel that with the low response to the poll that a silent majority are happy as things are. Finally a private pick up service is already available for those who want it...if you want pickup, pay for it and get it.

(Narol, 2018-01-13)

#56

I don't want to be forced into a service that would cost us so much more than what we pay to take our own garbage and recycling to the dump. It only costs us approximately $20.00 a year as we are only two in our home.

(Lockport, 2018-01-13)

#57

Outrageously overpriced fees

(Selkirk , 2018-01-13)

#58

This will involve a massive start up cost that will be paid for by a low population community. I simply can not see this being a small tax hike. The plan also does not cover everywhere in st Clements such as the beaches areas making for an even smaller population. But are those who don't receive garbage pick up going to get a break? Absolutely not.

(East Selkirk , 2018-01-13)

#59

I am opposed to forced curb side pickup

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-13)

#60

I do not want trash pickup

(East selkirk , 2018-01-14)

#61

I believe residents should have the choice to opt in or out of curb side collection.

(Gonor, 2018-01-14)

#63

There is already private collection in place, and companies to hire for those whom want it, we prefer to support local small businesses. Our area is open with no protection from wild animal, roaming dogs or wind - will the rm clean the mess? Our road is already deteriorating, will the rm finally start to take care of our street with potholes caused?
We are a mainly recycling based household - wouldn't make sense for weekly garbage and bi weekly recycling

(East selkirk , 2018-01-14)

#64

I am paying enough for minimal services in the RM. there was not enough respondents to the RM survey to move forward with instituting a garbage pick up service.
I am expecting the municipal board to review due to the percentage response vs the population in the RM and determine not enough people responded and municipality should have done further research before spending more tax payer money and forcing residents into garbage pick up.

(East Selkirk , 2018-01-14)

#65

I do not want or need this service. I take my garbage/recycling to either Clarke or Libau every two months and I do not generate enough garbage to justify the cost of adding this extra fee to my taxes. I cannot see how retaining transfer stations will be financially feasible with no garbage or recycling being collected at transfer stations.

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-15)

#66

Not interested ... take own garbage to Clarke or landfill. Program, as offered, will end up costing me more money.

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-15)

#67

Not interested, on principle. Oppose having this shoved down my throat. I am very satisfied using private pickup. Prefer supporting small businesses in our area.

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-15)

#69

Our town doesn’t need or want this

(East Selkirk , 2018-01-18)

#70

I am opposing this mandatory refuse collection as I am a senior citizen with health issues and a limited income. Do not want to haul a large bin all the way to the end of my driveway weekly.

(St. Clements, 2018-01-20)

#71

I do my own refuse removal. Do not want service.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-20)

#72

Senior with limited mobility. Already have refuse disposal taken care of. Have limited income.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-20)

#73

I am a senior and I have health issues. I don’t want to haul a bin out weekly. I also have a limited income.

(St Clements , 2018-01-20)

#74

Garbage pickup is non beneficial, the transfer station works well!

(St. Clements, 2018-01-20)

#75

My taxes are way too high for the service I receive now never mind tacking more money on my bill. We do not live in a city with houses up and down our streets. If the developments want it, fine, let them pay for it. BUT, it should not be forced on everyone

(Selkirk, 2018-01-20)

#77

I do not want to have this mandatory refuse collection taken from my taxes. I have a family of 6 and we recycle quite a bit and I do not think one bin will be sufficient nor do I think recycling pick up bi weekly will be enough.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-21)

#78

We have a great big landfill that our RM built a few years back in Libau that serves our Municpality well. Why do I need the government to move my trash from my house to theres?

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-21)

#79

We DO NOT want this service!

(St.CLEMENTS, 2018-01-21)

#81

I want the choice
I never get choices in St Clements

(Narol, 2018-01-24)

#82

We take care our own refuse to the dump and are in close proximity to the landfill. We don’t need our taxes going up anymore than they already have been.

(St. Clements, 2018-01-24)

#83

I do not want this service. I pay enough taxes and I take care of my own refuse. I also compost and the recycling offered is inadequate.

(East Selkirk, 2018-01-25)

#85

We handle our own refuse. Not wanted.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#86

Dump is 15 mins away. Not wanted.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#87

Handle our own garbage. Not wanted.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#88

Driveway is too long. Not wanted.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#89

Not needed. Should be optional

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#90

Not needed or wanted.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#91

Not interested In refuse collection. Take care of it myself.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#92

Already have garbage pick up arranged.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#93

Not wanted or needed

(St. Clements, 2018-01-26)

#94

Not needed.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#95

Do not want this service.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#96

Should be an option not mandatory

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#97

Not needed or wanted.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-26)

#98

we will be attending the townhall meeting jan 29/18 and hope to have a chance to express our numerous objections to this poorly surveyed plan.

(st clements municipality, 2018-01-26)

#99

I do my own refuse disposal. I live by myself, I don’t generate much waste and this is not cost effective for me. I’m not opposed to people who do want it but I do NOT want it.

(St. Clements, 2018-01-27)

#100

Not wanted or needed.

(St. Clements , 2018-01-27)

#102

I am opposed to mandatory garbage pick up.

(Lockport , 2018-01-28)

#103

Drive is too long, wild animal, too expensive compared with City of Winnipeg...

(RM St Clements, 2018-01-28)

#105

I don't want to be forced into garbage/recycle pickup. There should be a choice to opt in or out of. I am expecting cost to rise considerably in future years and I do not need an unnesseccary addition to my tax bill.

(West pine ridge, 2018-01-28)

#107

I do not wish to pay for added fees (additional tax) for garbage pick-up. Those that wish to have garbage pick-up can use existing private vendors already providing this service.

(Narol, 2018-01-28)
