Trevor Dowie (Belfast , 2019-11-20)

Veterans have the right to these accommodation save money by cutting the fat cats/officers pay and pensions. Good people give their time free to collect money for our heroes it's time for the shirt and ties to give a little even if the took less in expenses.shame on you all and we thought Hitler was dead

Terry Mckeegan (Londonderry , 2019-11-20)

#10

Think this is a total disgrace to our Veterans..

WILLIAM MOORCROFT (COLERAINE, 2019-11-20)

We need to look after our veterans, they need a welcoming place to go for rest bite and thank them for what they did so have a future there all heroes.

Alison Mckay (Cookstown, 2019-11-20)

#17

I'm a member of TRBL and recently due I'll used Bennet house. It helped me overcome a dark period of my life. We should support veterans not kick them in the teeth. Remember it was the public who over the years donated the money.

George Black (Londonderry , 2019-11-20)

#24

These poppy centres are badly needed for our veterans and families. Let's stop the wages and repay our heroes

Denise Gordon (Coagh, Cookstown, 2019-11-20)

#27

The General public support The RBL/Poppy Appeal to Aid our Serving & Ex Service Personnel .We Cannot allow Respite Homes for Veterans to close.

ANNE CHRISTIE (Sion Mills, 2019-11-20)

It's a Disgrace that these buildings are being closed. RBL has millions and this us the only restbit some veterans in Northern Ireland have

Duane Johnston (Ballymena , 2019-11-20)

#33

We need a restbite center in Northern Ireland if Portrush closes there will be nothing for our vertanas at all Portrush is used by all if this closes I for one will return my membership to the British legion

Darren Shuff (Belfast , 2019-11-20)

Chris Cooper (Ballykelly , 2019-11-20)

This resprite centre needs to be kept open for or veterans and widows

Shirley Halkyard (Omagh CoTyrone, 2019-11-20)

#39

As a member of the RBL i am appalled that they have the nerve to even contemplate such a move.

Rodney Stephens (Farnborough , 2019-11-20)

#42

I’m signing this petition as I totally disagree with this decision. Bennet House, in Northern Ireland, like all the other break homes are needed for our beneficiaries. I have referred many for said breaks and the difference it has made to their life’s has been phenomenal. Many suffering from PTSD, Hardship, Loneliness, Isolation etc - it is vital you rethink this decision. Your membership will suffer together with monies raised from Poppy Appeal. Do the right thing and stand by our beneficiaries, particularly in Northern Ireland.

Jenny McKeown (Cookstown , 2019-11-20)

#43

These Places are Life Savers, How the hell do the legion think this is a good idea is it another case of hording the money the Public give. This needs stopped NOW

Brian Warnock (Hawick, 2019-11-20)

#45

With the money they have they should be opening more not closing them down.

Ernie Devlin (Belfast, 2019-11-20)

These centres r vital for our veterans

Maureen Herron (Lisburn , 2019-11-20)

I spent a week in Bennett House a few years ago and it is an excellent place with excellent staff.

Walter Roleston (Armagh, 2019-11-20)

#52

As a veteran I strongly believe this action to be wrong. Veteran's and their family need support and respite.

Gus Macleod (Edinburgh , 2019-11-20)

#54

It's so wrong to take away this facility ..

Nicola Cooper (Nottingham, 2019-11-20)

#57

I'm an Army Veteran and we need places like these so that we can get help

Eric Jones (Dublin 15, 2019-11-20)

#62

I know people who these respite homes have helped.
Make cuts elsewhere, Stop having expensive annual conferences this would save nearly a million a year after all expenses are taken into account.

Keith Browne (Rhyl, 2019-11-20)

#63

RBL has millions in reserves and to many executives on 6 figure salaries this should not be happening this charity seems to be running as a business with no thought for its members.

Antony Carr (Long Eaton , 2019-11-20)

#65

I’m disgusted they can even think of this when veterans need it so badly and they have the money

Sue Sidebottom (Barnsley , 2019-11-20)

#67

I'm signing because our troops needs more support not less

Imelda Truesdale (Belfast , 2019-11-20)

#70

Hi

Linda Douglas (Dunganno, 2019-11-20)

#72

Bennett House is so important to our veterans and families across Ireland North and South....no matter where you are in Ireland it's just up the road and can be accessed with little or no effort by road or train.
Save Bennett House. QS.

Ciaran Crone (Dublin, 2019-11-21)

#73

These are very much needed for veterans who are suffering from the after affects of serving there country and have physical and emotional needs

Ernest Clarke (Fivemiletown , 2019-11-21)

#77

1) my father is a Royal navy veteran
2) my cousin is an army veteran and has needed the respite services on several occasions)
3) I am a member of the RBL

Sandra Wilks (Southport , 2019-11-21)

#78

I am getting increasingly disheartened with those in Haig House with their decisions while us volunteers volunteer all year round raising money for the Poppy Appeal not just Poppy month. Our ex service men and women deserve the very best of care and that includes rest/care homes and to close them is despicable.

Jenny Cantwell (London, 2019-11-21)

#79

As a retired QA nurse, I and my husband (exUDR) benefited from a much needed break at Bennett House, Portrush. This is the ONLY RBL respite unit in Northern Ireland. Please do not close these much needed facilities.

Yvonne Young (Belfast, 2019-11-21)

#83

I have used this facility and it is a vital part of Convalescence

Trevor Loughlin (Strabane , 2019-11-21)

#85

As a member of RBL in Northern Ireland, I know how important the respite Bennet House is to veterans and their families.
Northern Ireland, because of our horrendous ‘troubles’ has greater number of veterans per capita than any other region in the UK

Anne Willis (Crumlin , 2019-11-21)

#87

Because no need money should not be a issue

Stacy Gilpin (Clitheroe , 2019-11-21)

#89

I am an ex serviceman and these facilities are vital

Mike Simosin (Antrim, 2019-11-21)

#91

Places like bing house are a life line to lots of veterans

Paul Christian (Southport , 2019-11-21)

#92

To close this facility would be a National Disgrace for us Former soldiers.

Patrick Herbert (Bangkok, 2019-11-21)

#93

Charities shouldn’t be banking money, it should be spent as those that donated want to see their money working not collecting interest for others

Ian Flaherty (York, 2019-11-21)

#94

My wife is employed at Alderson House and the services personnel need this facility.

Andrew Dunn (Bridlington, 2019-11-21)

#100

I believe the work of respite homes is an essential element in the Royal British Legion’s care for veterans.

Michael Holland (Fivemiletown, 2019-11-21)

#101

I believe our RBL homes should be kept for our veterans

Anne-Marie Cobley (Newport, 2019-11-21)

#104

This is something i feel very strongly about, please reconsider your proposal

Ann Bruce (ANTRIM, 2019-11-21)

#105

This respite home is needed in N Ireland , closing it leaves us with nothing for our x service to enjoy and get away for a while with safe accommodation and no worries

Anne Holden (Larne , 2019-11-21)

#107

I work locally to help raise funds for the British Legion.
As volunteers we give up a great percentage of our time to support our ex-servicemen.
To close down these homes that provide vital care is disgraceful.
Seems to me the Management have much to learn.

Susan Whaley (Peterborough , 2019-11-21)

#115

It serves a good cause

Neil Scoop Reilly (Lisburn , 2019-11-21)

#120

I am ex forces and veterans have done a lot for this country

Lynn Thornton (Manchester , 2019-11-21)

#122

This is a total disgrace we cannot allow this to happen this may be the only holiday our Veterans get which is needed for their Mental health and general wellbeing

Gareth Lynch (Londonderry , 2019-11-21)

#127

This is crucial to support our a veterans when needed.

Amanda Foster (Salisbury , 2019-11-21)

#128

The RBL has millions put aside, why would they close these? Keep them open.

Christine Abrams (Glossop, 2019-11-21)

#129

There is very little to offer veterans, especially in Northern Ireland, please keep this place open, it gives valuable respite to many in need.

Audrey Watson (Enniskillen, 2019-11-21)

#131

Out of respect and I feel its 100% the right thing to do.

Shirley Wright (Carrickfergus , 2019-11-21)

Byng house was my refuge when I lost my wife, it must be saved

Mike Holmes (Prestatyn, 2019-11-21)

#137

As ex military myself and a military wife for many years I appreciate how connected places like this make military people feel

Kathy Ryan (Charlestown , 2019-11-21)

#138

It's an absolute disgrace that the legion has decided to close this establishment it has helped our veterans and families over the years. Makes me think, is it really worthwhile carrying on with the Poppy Appeal.

Raymond Corbett (Lisburn , 2019-11-21)

#144

I am disgusted at this decision by bean counters are RBL.

Peter Sludden (Rotherham , 2019-11-21)

#147

To enable people in need some place to go

Albert Copeland (Belfast, 2019-11-21)

#149

The RBL is losing it’s support of the Veteran community because of the crass decisions made by the paid elite staff who have no real connection to the military community. Too many PC decisions.

Rodger Helmn (Knottingley, 2019-11-21)

#152

These places are essential for veterans and families to get a break from at times a hard day to day life with treatments and provides bit of escapism to reality surrounded by like minded vets

Andy Taylor (Belfast, 2019-11-21)

#153

I have seen no plan from the RBL to provide this service by other means, as is their claim.

Colin Agius (Crawley, 2019-11-21)

#155

Why would you do this, no need, the RBL have plenty of funds,

Andrew Coulter (Livingston, 2019-11-21)

#156

This facility must be saved there are so many service people who could benefit from it come on Boris help them out if that’s what is needed please

Amanda Maloney (Ramsgate Kent, 2019-11-21)

#163

These homes are a vital asset for returning and retired VETERANS who are desperate for the help they provide.

Geoff Geary (Prestatyn, 2019-11-21)

#165

I’m signing this as one of the millions who both raise money and contribute financially myself to the RBL. Our veterans need our break centres- as a member I will do all in my power to ensure Bennett House in Portrush remains open.

Joanne Walker (Hillsborough, Co. Down., 2019-11-21)

#166

Service men and women, their families, veterans and their families deserve every bit of care they require. They sacrificed so much for their country just keep giving something back to them.

Shirley Mcgovern (Dundee , 2019-11-21)

#170

I have had a poppy break and it is very beneficial

Cath Spalding (Bradford , 2019-11-21)

#171

Its their home, their friends their last days need to be peaceful.
Its a big organisation and should be supported by mainland money family helps family.

Garvin Kirkpatrick (Ballymena , 2019-11-21)

#174

As a retired ARMY officer, who has stayed at Bennett House and experienced first hand the excellent service they provide, I know also as Chairperson Of our local RBL Branch , NO ONE WANTS THIS FACILITY TO CLOSE

Helen Wilson (Craigavon , 2019-11-21)

#176

British legion hierarchy are ripping the current legion establishment apart whilst sitting in posh buildings in London spending the money given by the public

Iain Jones (Newport, 2019-11-21)

#177

As a member of the British,my question were is all the money that is collected going, every penn should be going to places like this .and not on salaries for excetives

Stephen Reilly (Leeds, 2019-11-21)

#178

I am a member of The Royal British Legion
And Think these resthomes Need to stay open for The Service Personnel who are injured in conflict and there families.

#191

I used this service which is needed for those veterans that just need that bit of time out

Ronald Moore (Londonderry , 2019-11-21)

#193

It is with only place in Northern Ireland that can look veterans and their families. I myself have been to Bennet House and always look forward to return.

Margaret Gault (Fivemiletown , 2019-11-21)

#194

It's what the RBL is all about. Caring for those comrades and their families who need respite.

David Mawhinney (Brookeborough, 2019-11-21)

#196

This is quite frankly a finical decision

Darren Murphy (Newtownards , 2019-11-21)

#199

This hotel is vital for the well-being of ex Service personally and their families. The trustees of the RBL should have a major re think of their budgeting and source funding from other budget plans

Jack Glenn (Londonderry , 2019-11-21)

#200

I believe that these Respite Havens are needed to assist the UK Veterans and other Service personnel. Keep management costs to a living wage standards, then there may well be sufficient funds to keep them operational.
