I contracted COVID-19 while working at OCBSS. The board has shown gross negligence in their enforcement of policies regarding COVID-19

As a union steward, I support safe work practices for my fellow employees which in turn will protect the residents of Ocean County we also serve.

In light of the currently rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state of New Jersey it is our duty to try and reduce the amount of potential exposures in our workplace. One of the most effective ways of doing so is to implement an alternating schedule supplemented with working from home on off days. This is a common sense measure that would help reduce potential risk to all employees.

The amount of “potential exposure” emails have significantly increased for November and December (more emails now, then in the spring when we were working remotely). We are also one of the only agencies still full time in office (example DCP&P is remote until June 2021)

Our employees need to be safe and healthy so as we can provide the services to our community. Being in close proximity to a large group of people is not safe and that has been proven with the copious amount of exposure memos that have been issued in the last month. In order for our community to remain stable and receive the necessary benefits that so many families are relying on now due to this pandemic, we need to be free of the cross exposure we are subjected to in the office so we can remain healthy enough to work.

I am singing this petition because if anyone does not feel comfortable coming into office for any reason at all ESPECIALLY during a pandemic when there were humans that tested positive recently (or not) there...there should be no reason to work from this location.

My step daughter is an employee there with two small children. Since the recent positive covid cases in her office and since my husband, her father, is compromised, we have not seen my step daughter or her children for some time. People in her office are not even wearing masks! Please let them work from home!

I find it unreasonable to find that my safety and rights to equal work standards with another co-worker should not be prioritize to be more superior than my own well being and fellow employees. I ask that you take deep consideration of not only your employees safety but not to jeprodize our children and loved ones. Thank you for your time.
