I live on Happy Valley and have seen major changes in traffic flow in the past 19 years. It is scary getting both on and off the highway. Even turning right onto HV causes people to honk, tailgate and become irate as there is no turning lane. Taking a left onto the highway from HV is even more treacherous. Going all the way to 3rd or River adds anywhere from 5 to 13 minutes. Yes-we bought on that road, but in all fairness, in 2002 it was not that bad.

Everyone who travels Highway 101 E from Sequim approaches an extremely dangerous intersection with Pal Alto Road which cannot be seen in time to brake for traffic entering the highway. There is a second less dangerous intersection with Louella. Drivers unfamiliar with the area (tourists),
distracted drivers and those who are afraid of being rear-ended by fellow eastbound travelers fail to heed the “advisory 35 mph” sign. People have died as a consequence. Signage is inadequate. The roadway needs to be modified to either improve visibility, change where Palo Alto enters 101, provide a traffic light with flashing warning lights before the light, an extra lane for entering 101 at that intersection, or some other civil engineering solution. The hazard has been ignored for decades. It needs fixing

I have to travel a short distance on hwy 101 from my home, west into Sequim. Traffic coming from the east and the west, at high speeds, is obstructed by topography, making it challenging and extremely dangerous.
This two-lane highway can cause traffic to come to a sudden stop if someone is making a left turn on to Palo Alto Road, adding to the danger.
Please, I urge you to consider this roadwork project a top priority for 2021.

I’m signing because I use Palo Alto Road to access recreation activities at least once per week and to visit friends up in the area. I use the shoulder of the road when traveling eastbound to exit Hwy 101 onto Palo Alto. Many times traffic speed and frequency have made a westbound turn across traffic almost impossible to return to Sequim. I have often chosen to turn right onto 101 until there is a left turn lane. I exit 101 and use back roads to get back into Sequim.
A service Road on the south side of 101 could provide a safe way to access Palo Alto Rd to and frim Sequim.
I urge you to make safety road improvements a priority.
