SAY NO to MEDIUM DENSITY DEVELOPMENT in Avalon Beach

#1

I’m saying no to medium or high density living in Avalon Beach

Caroline Walsh (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-25)

#3

This proposal is the the thin end of the wedge, which will destroy the amenity and character of the peninsular.

Simon Barlow (Newport, 2021-02-27)

#4

Been down this path of destruction in Turramurra.
No no no here

Elspeth Ellis-Jones (Bilgola Plateau, 2021-02-27)

#5

I do not want our unique local environment degraded. Its character needs to be protected for locals and visitors alike. I SAY NO TO THE PROPOSED APARTMENT STRATEGY & INCREASING DENSITIES.

Chuck Sorg (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#6

We love and live in Avalon because we moved here for a reason! It’s quite and special away from the high density living! We do not want our beautiful Avalon ruined by greedy politicians!

Julie Sorg (Avalon , 2021-02-27)

#7

I do not agree with medium density development in an already crowded area

Mia Asker (Clareville , 2021-02-27)

#8

I'm signing because the provision of this type of housing will bring multiple cars for every unit, and already traffic is terrible. It's already hard to get out onto the main road at peak hour, and parking is already difficult at any time of day in Avalon vilage. Even previously quiet outer streets are now being crowded with vehicles, trailers, boats and caravans . In the meantime, we don't even have footpaths to safely walk on...

Margot Paul (Avalon Beach NSW, 2021-02-27)

#10

I oppose these accommodation developments on the northern beaches. People live here to be close to the natural environment, not spoiled land, extra traffic and to go through the despair of seeing trees pulled down and bushland cleared for roads to make way for an influx of people who would only destroy the bushland, the wildlife and the friendly relaxed small village atmosphere. More people will ruin this environment forever. Council just seems to want rate payers money rather than wanting to protect what is important. We need to protect our current healthy environment and make it an even greener and more sustainable model for other areas! We need to protect the beauty of this area rather than uglify it like much of the rest of the city. People have paid enormous sums to live in this area for a reason. More people were allowed into Dee Why and it is treeless, soulless and ugly with no beauty whatsoever. We have to protect our environment and our wildlife. There is not a single worthwhile argument to counter that. Should this development go ahead it may be possible for Northern Beaches residents to sue both council and councillors individually and severally for ecocide as is happening internationally.

clare cherikoff (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#12

I’ve already objected on the council form, but I want to object as many times as possible. This strategy should not be implemented in Avalon or indeed anywhere on the Northern Beached.

Claire Scott (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#13

I’m signing because I do not want the things we most love about this area to be lost because of a desire of the government to keep increasing the people living here. Keep the area one that people want to visit not one that people want to leave because of population overload!!!

Shannon McDonald (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#18

We need to retain our open spaces and bushland. The traffic is already capacity....no more people and their cars.

Dale Kentwell (sydney, 2021-02-27)

#24

There is not enough public parking and infrastructure to support more intensive development

Anna Little (Avalon , 2021-02-27)

#25

We don’t have the infrastructure to support medium density housing

Stehanie White (Bilgola Plateau, 2021-02-27)

#30

Because it’s an overdevelopment of an area with unsuitable roads .. and it only helps the developers get rich

Daryl Johnson (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#31

I live in Avalon and have done so permanently since 1975, on and off before then. My children grew up in Avalon and went to school here. The Avalon community and village are significant to our lifestyle and quality of life. Over the years and decades the population density has been allowed to increase, largely against he wishes of residents. people have a right to protect their lifestyle with out continually having to fight to maintain it. Proper planning doesn't currently exist and there has been an impulsive push by governments to increase populations for reasons that may seem significant to them but the welfare of communities is almost always ignored. This is ethically wrong and should not happen.
Do not impose greater population density on this community. We do not want it.

Bob Richardson (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#34

I believe the resources on the northern beaches will not cope with population increase and medium density housing is not in keeping with the local environment

Matthew Tinker (Sydney, 2021-02-27)

#37

I want to protect the character of this area I choose to live in.
This will do nothing to increase the benefit to locals and visitors alike.
Dee Why and Manly have this kind of facility if required.

Pamela Garnsey (Bilgola Beach, 2021-02-27)

#40

too much traffic. loses character for everybody. loses lifestyle. Nature destroyed. we do not want medium nor high density.

Pia Lehmann (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#43

We don't want Avalon to look like Dee Why.

Lynda Hill (Avalon, 2021-02-27)

#44

Traffic is already pretty unbearable in the area and so are parking issues. Increasing population even further is going to make living here unpleasant.

Susan Thomson (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#45

High density developments are not suitable in Avalon. It already gets congested and the infrastructure is not here.

Simon Robertson (Sydney , 2021-02-27)

#48

The impact on the environment and traffic will kill our community

Melinda NOLAN (Avalon , 2021-02-27)

#50

Our topography, character and environment are not conducive to medium density development. We can not change the accessibility of our suburb and those to our north, so we must not change the density/planning codes.

Jennifer Cuthbertson (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#51

Overdevelopment is destroying what little is left of the area’s natural environment. The only beneficiaries are the developers; it’s a growing nightmare of ugliness, noise, pollution, crowding and traffic logjams for the residents.

Martin Bayliss (Newport, 2021-02-27)

#52

I’ve lived on the northern beaches almost my entire life and their appeal is not medium density housing, but space and greenery and fewer people in those spaces than other parts of Sydney.

Rob McKenna (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#55

Avalon Beach and it’s infrastructure is totally unsuitable for medium or high density housing.

Nina Gow (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#56

The roads are clogged and crowded enough already and the unique beauty of the area will be compromised by land division and clearing for new builds.

Tania Kerr (Whale Beach, 2021-02-27)

#58

Money should be spent on education- primary and secondary schools need attention and money! This 147page document is a ridiculous waste of our tax payers money.

Sarah Williams (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#59

Increasing density in the Avalon beach area will put unbearable pressure on an area already regularly packed with visitors. The narrow winding Bilgola Bends - the only road in and out - will not support this kind of population increase. The Avalon shopping area is already overrun with cars parking illegally in the middle of the road. The Bline bus ends at Mona vale, so the development is not supported by good public transport. This is an area that attracts visitors because of its tree cover, natural beauty and village atmosphere - it’s just not suitable for this kind of increased density.

Jane Rowe (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#60

As a business owner in Avalon of 25 years , I would not like to see our beutiful village turned into medium apartment density in a 1km radius losing and ruining the village charm we so enjoy

Christopher Gleeson (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#63

Avalon will be ruined ,which would be such a shame...it doesnt need to have more units cars people , its busy enough.

Narelle O'Sullivan (Avalon, 2021-02-27)

#64

Avalon is my home

Tarabella Steiner (Sydney , 2021-02-27)

#65

I do not believe Avalon has the infrastructure to support 1000’s of extra residents.

Bethany Clark (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#66

The areas identified for medium density in Avalon are unsuitable. Avalon has a unique village character that is not seen anywhere else in the NB LGA. This alone is worthy of preservation. The character is cherished by residents and loved by visitors. The houses and back yards are part of the heritage of this area and cannot be lost. To allocated a blanket 1km medium density zone within a village is devastating and completely alters the area. This is not application of a denser ring of housing around a town centre. It is decimation of a place we love. Furthermore, there are associated issues with parking, traffic and infrastructure associated with medium density that are complicated by imposing unsuitable development in a village that has one single lane road in and out. Please stop this madness.

Deborah Denman (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-27)

#67

I disagree with this proposal.

Paul Bolet (Avalon, 2021-02-27)

#68

I am in opposition to this change as it will drastically change the environment and increase traffic congestion and the load on an already overloaded utility structure.

Greg Hanley (Sydney - Bilgola, 2021-02-27)

#69

The area needs an assessment on the effects of increased population , what would do to the area? The council/ nsw gov do not consider the access and current traffic snarls that already exist as a red flag for causing more chaos. Small suburban roads are already flagged by apps to avoid the bends which is causing dangerous situations on roads that can not cope with increased traffic.

Susan Rix (Bilgola Plateau, 2021-02-27)

#71

Avalon is overly developed already. The infrastructure we have does not support more people. Public transport is hopeless with the B line ending at Mona Vale. Granny flats are causing overcrowding.

Leonie Seaton (Avalon, 2021-02-27)

#72

Avalon does not need medium density housing : that only the rich can afford, which will cause much more traffic congestion, which will totally destroy our village atmosphere, which will destroy valuable bush land, wildlife and trees, which no one wants, which will make parking even more difficult than it already is. Why don’t you listen to the residents for a change. Why are you always I bed with greedy developers and big business. Why do you show zero interest and concern for preserving the beautiful parts left in our area...so much has already been trashed.
Thank you.

Helen Manfield (Avalon , 2021-02-27)

#75

Our roads already can't cope nor our schools and public transport...

Josh Gull (Avalon, 2021-02-27)

#76

I believe the quiet coast village feel is integral to the Avalon community and vibe. Increased housing density will make the traffic even more unbearable and significantly change the quaint coastal look of this community that people love and come for!

Alex Taylor (Sydney , 2021-02-27)

#80

I’m signing this petition for all the reasons mentioned - Avalon doesn’t have the infrastructure or the roads to cope with a much larger population - the traffic is unsustainable in holiday times and weekends now!

Debbie Taylor (Palm Beach, 2021-02-27)

#86

The proposed development strategy has not considered impact on wildlife, flora, increased traffic on already congested single lane roads. I live on Barrenjoey rd and witness everyday the congestion that already exists from residents and weekend tourists.
This strategy will negatively impact the Avalon culture and community.
Avalon is a small community,

Beck Hammond (Sydney, 2021-02-27)

#90

A definite NO to high density in Mona Vale, has anyone noticed the traffic already!!!
Pittwater prides itself on its natural wonders and village atmosphere.
Please keep it that way

Lorraine Ellison (Sydney , 2021-02-28)

#91

Too much medium density housing will destroy the feel of a village in Avalon

John Patrick (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-28)

#95

Increased housing densities destroy the natural beauty of the area which is unique in Sydney.

James Nicol OAM (11 urara rd Avalon, Sydney, 2021-02-28)

#97

We don’t have the infrastructure to support medium density housing

Stephanie Stoddard (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-28)

#103

Avalon, Bilgola and the surrounding suburbs are unique in their beauty.
The traffic at certain times of the day and on weekends is already chaotic.
There are apartments and large dual occupancies popping up everywhere.
The area is buckling under the strain as it is.
If this area were to be re- zoned it would be irresponsible; no thought for the impact such a decision will have on the future of this beautiful area.

Mia Galo (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-28)

#104

There are enough people here already.
No infrastructure to match population growth, parking is a nightmare.
Quality of life diminishes for everyone

Steve Haig (Sydney, 2021-02-28)

#105

This housing strategy will destroy the character and way of life of Avalon. We are on a narrow peninsula with one narrow two lane main road access. More development is wrong.

Marita Macrae (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-28)

#106

I do not want medium density development in Avalon

Skye Beckett (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-28)

#109

I value our way of life, that we have paid a lot for, the quiet, space and trees

Rebecca Tinker (BILGOLA PLATEAU, 2021-02-28)

#112

I’m signing I do not want medium density housing, sick of council taking it upon themselves to destroy the area along with greedy developers,

Matthew Beckett (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-28)

#115

I like Avalon just the way it is at the moment.

Kerry Ritson (Avalon Beach, 2021-02-28)

#121

Apart from ruining the character of the area the traffic issues would be horrendous

Patricia Nicol (Sydney, 2021-03-01)

#123

I'm signing because it will ruin Avalon completely.

Sue Mieville (Avalon, 2021-03-01)

#126

You will destroy the natural beauty of the area and community. We do NOT want this here. Go AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

Josie Forster (Sydney , 2021-03-01)

#130

Avalon is on a small peninsula with limited access and a fragile environment. This area of the Northern Beaches is not suitable for medium density housing. The support services are limited by its geographical inability to spread due to water on 3 sides. It needs to be protected from irreversible harm.

Jennifer Brennan (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#131

The transport situation is already a mess & needs be be improved before looking at this type of development. Current upgrades to Mona vale road will only increase local traffic on the peninsular & further medium density housing will cause Kaos.

Jeff Imison (Bega, 2021-03-01)

#132

The Northern beaches in general is too crowded already, you people in government couldnt care less what is best for our area, all you care about is profit!

Todd Warren (BILGOLA PLATEAU, 2021-03-01)

#134

This is an horrendous attempt to extend the tourism and high density housing up the peninsula. Please don't let it happen. There is only one road in and out.

Diane Dromgold (Sydney, 2021-03-01)

#138

We do not want high density living in our beautiful location by the sea. With covid and boarder restrictions, the traffic on weekends, holiday periods and long weekends has been terrible, with long traffic queues. There is simply insufficient infrastructure to cater for more people.
This is not Dee Why, let’s not make it so

Kate Whitelaw (Bilgola Plateau, 2021-03-01)

#139

Because this area is so beautiful we have already lost our local Koalas due to development..... please don’t ruin the uniqueness of this area ..... this is why I live here for the low density .....

Sandra Strudwick (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#140

Too much over development

Niki Donlan (Sydney , 2021-03-01)

#142

I did not move here for the city life. This is unacceptable and unnecessary in Avalon.

Melanie Moss (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#144

I am a rate payer and have lived in Avalon Beach for over 30yrs and I do NOT want medium density housing here as I live here because of the village atmosphere and the trees, if this medium density housing goes ahead it will destroy our beautiful area!!

Jools Farrell (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#146

The traffic issues alone with a one lane each way entering Avalon should be enough of a deterrent. The area is full of young families and older retirees who chose to live where high rise and higher density living was not an option- therefore their/ our wishes should be strongly considered.

Julie Whitelaw (Newport , 2021-03-01)

#150

Avalon is already struggling with the amount of people. Can never get a park anywhere! Totally ridiculous. Will ruin the whole reason people move here - the village atmosphere

Justine Wray (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#151

I've been in the area nearly 60 years and to totally change the substructure of Central Avalon would be a tragedy when council has other options available

Greg Jacobs (2101, INGLESIDE, 2021-03-01)

#154

It is an unacceptable impact on the area. Roads are choking already NO to medium density increases

Warren Young (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#157

Any increased housing density will ruin this area.

June Mckimmie (Palm Beach NSW, 2021-03-01)

#158

Building apartments will bring more people. We cannot fit more people into Avalon, especially re traffic and parking.

Claire Lane (75 Riverview Rd, Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#159

Do not destroy the village atmosphere of Avalon so cherished by the local Comnunity and those who visit from outside the area.

Ronald Holmes (Bilgola Plateau, 2021-03-01)

#166

I love the northern beaches and it doesn’t need to change

Guy Henry (Sydney, 2021-03-01)

#167

This proposal does not support the unique character of Avalon, which is why the majority of people live here. There is a big CBD called Sydney - keep the density there.

Katie Pinnick (Avalon Beaj, 2021-03-01)

#171

This is a selfish, unnecessary and the only objective that could be achieved is over populating the area for no reason other than monetary

DEBRA COPELAND (NEWPORT, 2021-03-01)

#175

The infrastructure is definitely not in place particularly north of Narrabeen for medium density developments. The traffic in the area is getting worse daily and and the roads just can't cope especially on weekends.

Geoff Crowe (Sydney, 2021-03-01)

#180

We do not need the medium density in a place that cannot sustain the traffic through the bends. There are more suitable places with the right services for everyone, it is a deadend soon after Avalon.

Gary Denman (Avalon, 2021-03-01)

#184

Medium density housing will ruin the very unique area that is Avalon Beach. It won't make housing more affordable, just ruin a wonderful natural area and turn it into 'just another bloody overcrowded suburb with no soul'. Don't do it!

Pauline Allan (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#185

The local roads & infrastructure can not cope with unsustainable development

Zoe Dent (Avalon , 2021-03-01)

#192

I don’t want this beautiful area ruined by too much housing and too many people.

Melissa Wellings (Avalon Beach, 2021-03-01)

#194

I have lived in Avalon my whole life (47 years) and would hate to see it completely ruined by overdevelopment. We are only just managing with the current population and most definitely will destroy our current quality of life if this medium density goes ahead.

Karina Hammond (Sydney, 2021-03-01)

#195

I do not believe this will have a positive impact on AVALON or the surrounding suburbs

Kristina Thomas (Sydney, 2021-03-01)

#196

The housing strategy is short-sighted and will not achieve the stated aims but will impact adversely on the existing environment.

Leigh McGaghey (Bilgola Plateau, 2021-03-01)

#197

I’m signing because I want to protect the unique village atmosphere of Avalon, Bilgola and Newport.

Gary Grocott (Clareville, 2021-03-01)

#199

There will be too many ppl for infrastructure therefore reducing quality of life
