I would like full council to raise the issues noted in this petition

Lisa Black (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

The loss of Penrhos habitat and history will be incalculable. It will never be replaced.

Lyulph Avebury (London, 2021-02-28)

#8

We need to preserve this natural woodland for us and future generations. What makes Wales unique is its incredible coastline and natural beauty. Now more than ever, we need spaces where people from all walks of life and places, can visit to unwind and learn about nature.

Katuma McLaughlin (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#9

This is such a special place for nature, in particular, red squirrels. We need to preserve this habitat and not destroy it. With Wylfa Newydd now defunct there is no need for houses for construction workers. Call it in and re-examine all plans pertaining to the destruction Penrhos.

Hazel Duke (Rhyl, 2021-02-28)

#13

I give my full support to this petition and ask the council to review their approval of the Land and Lakes development at Penrhos. There are many reasons why this application is unsustainable in the current environment. The infrastructure on Ynys Cybi cannot sustain such a huge development. It is marketed as an eco resort and yet countless trees and habitats for some rare and endangered species will be lost due to the destruction of the woodland. Once gone it would take decades to recover and regain its full biodiversity if ever! This is alone contravenes the councils Biodiversity Agenda. There are many ways in which this woodland could benefit the community and bring sustainable jobs to local people and eco tourism to this side of Anglesey, without having Land and Lakes bulldoze half the Nature Reserve. Please reconsider this application.

Emma Williams (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#16

As a native of Ynys Gybi since 1969 Penrhos Nature is dear to my heart.
I find it absolutely horrific that any form of commercial planning approval has been granted for the development of the are known as 'PENRHOS NATURE RESERVE.
Penrhos Nature Reserve is an area of outstanding natural beauty and needs to be fully protected for evermore for the enjoyment of future generations.
To allow any form of development on Penrhos Nature Reserve is completely immoral.

Nicholas Bounds (Brighton, 2021-02-28)

#18

I am signing to try to save a Penrhos Nature Reserve /Park
on Account of the right to walk in this Park since this Park was opened by Prince Charles in 1971

Judith Gerrard (Prescot, 2021-02-28)

#20

This land is the hub of Holyhead, for it's people, it's wildlife AND plants, including rare varieties of animals and plants. This needs to be re-assessed due to many changes in circumstances, since it was first proposed, not to mention the Wylfa Newydd project coming to nothing. It needs to be thoroughly scrutinised to ensure nothing is overlooked. Please, don't lose this land to another playground for the wealthy. This is the jewel in the crown, of Holyhead, while it is free for all to roam and enjoy, whoever you may be. Please save Penrhos Nature Reserve while you still can! 🙏🙏🙏

L Scott (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#22

Although not from Wales, we have a caravan on Anglesey and love Penrhos Nature Park, it would be criminal to destroy it!

Kath Collins (Wigan, 2021-02-28)

#24

I cannot believe Anglesey can ruin a local treasure space for local and tourists . It is a must go place for my family and any tourists I ever met . Absolutely ruining. What Anglesey stands for.

Linda Linda bray (Anglesey, 2021-02-28)

#25

The reason is in the name Penrhos Nature Reserve/Park.

M Charlton (Amlwch Port, 2021-02-28)

#26

I was brought up in Valley spent many hours at Penrhos before and after Rio Tinto gifted the area as a natural resource .Anglesey needs more green spaces not less , encourage building on brown field sites and plant more trees .
Not destroy existing ancient Woodlands

Sue Kay (Wales, 2021-02-28)

#27

I wholeheartedly agree to this online petition.
Land and Lakes planning application should be withdrawn due to lack of consultation with the public. The permission to discharge conditions should be brought to a halt.
The continuation of missing documentation through this whole process is very concerning.
The whole planning application in all forms for Kingsland/CaeGlas/Penrhos Holyhead have a duty to be ‘Called In’ and re-evaluated due to lack of information, plus lack of transparency by the Developers Land&Lakes/Bluestone and Isle of Anglesey County Council.
The main concerns being the development is unacceptable in terms of:
1. Transparency.
2. Missing documentation.
3. Character of our Welsh Heritage Coastline.
4. The effect of our green spaces/Amenity
5. Effect on designated conservation areas AONB/SSSI
6. The two sites Kingsland/Cae Glas will not be utilised. (No Wylfa N.P./Horizon Contractors)
7. The development plan has changed.
8. The policy should follow National planning policy Wales framework.
9. Over development of site.
10. Over bearing, out of scale and out of character with the nature and site.
11. A higher standard of design since original permission.
12. Impact on Landscape.
13. Highway safety.
14. Breach of Policy-Joint local development plan that has since been adopted 31 July 2017 for a 15 year period.

Hilary Jones (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#28

The proposed destruction of this woodland nature reserve is surely against all environmental conservation. How can this be perceived as beneficial?

Ann Williams (Colwyn Bay, 2021-02-28)

#31

For over 50 years locals & visitors alike have enjoyed & respected the beauty that is Penrhos Nature Park. It is home to many rare creatures and needs protecting now & for future generations. To lose such a beautiful area would be devastating for the mental wellbeing of the locals that regularly enjoy this amazing place.

V Boyd-Cutler (Llanfair yn Neubwll, 2021-02-28)

#32

Born in Holyhead and brought up just outside in Valley..I have grave concerns over the development, nay, destruction of this beautiful place. Once it's gone..that's it...there are lpenty of other locations on Anglesey for such a development. The old tank farm at Rhosybol for example..here are definitely others...to all "pro" developers..think on.. short term gain?..LONG TERM LOSS!

Dewi Alun Griffiths (Oswestry, 2021-02-28)

#33

Penrhos nature park should be there for everyone to enjoy, not for the few.

Claire Hollick (BIRMINGHAM, 2021-02-28)

#36

I visit Anglesey regularly and enjoy visiting the reserve. It is preserving a natural landscape for wildlife. We have destroyed about90% of our natural areas in this country. Please stop taking away any more

Barbara Dunne (Stockport, 2021-02-28)

#38

I'm signing because Penrhos is very dear to me . I grew up in Valley and it was on our doorstep. We used to cycle over. Help out with the birds. Amazing childhood memories and its just such a wonderful part of the island. Please leave it this way. Holyhead is steady over run with out of town outlets . Dont let some greedy holiday company cone here and ruin it because once its gone its gone . I hope you realise from this petition just how much Penrhos means to so many people. From the island and holiday makers too.... leave it be.

Mandy Heath Dedee (Llangefni, 2021-02-28)

#39

Penrhos is a natural habitat for many species and a beautiful place to walk. The local people would be lost if this was taken away for what a few low paid jobs. Please think again.

Ann Williams (Llangefni , 2021-02-28)

#42

The red squirrel population in penhros is flourishing, it is criminal to destroy their habitat, lots of badgers and other animals should be left in their natural environment without us deestrying the area around them, we need more woodland spaces and so this should be protected

Ros jones (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#46

The loss of penrhos country park for those who live and visit Anglesey is scandalous. For the company to attempt to remove planning restrictions will result in the loss of protected fauna and flora. The island does not need a centerparcs style park.

Helen Slater-Daley (westcliff, 2021-02-28)

#47

I have used penrhos nature reserve for over 45 years thinking it was a public place .

Janet Pritchard (HOLYHEAD, 2021-02-28)

#48

Destroying trees and habitat is not going to help the environment or meet climate goals in any way. Other nearby brown field sites are derelict and should be developed instead.

Elfed Jones (Colwyn Bay, 2021-02-28)

#50

Can't just destroy natural habitats.

Nadine Jermy (Oswestry, 2021-02-28)

#51

This is an area of outstanding beauty with an abundance of wildlife and flowers the snowdrops followed by daffodils bluebells wild garlic. The red squirrels are wonderful to watch and need to be protected

Kath Dean (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#54

There's not enough trees as it is on Anglesey especially on the western side of the island. There are other places on the island where a holiday village could be sited and trees planted at that site.

Mary O'Brien (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#55

Myself and my family have been going to the beautiful Penrhos Nature Reserve for 60 years plus. It will be criminal and soul destroying if the plans to desicrate it go ahead. Children love it there for the wild habitat and fresh air. How can anyone deny our future generation of the pleasure of this place. It's the ONLY woodland in Holyhead. There are so many other places that could be used for a holiday park that do not have wildlife. So please review the plans and STOP THIS DESTRUCTION!!!

Heather Parry (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#59

The destruction of this nature reserve is devastating to the wildlife in the area also we have so few tree on Anglesey as it is.

Carys Kinnaird (Llanfairpwll , 2021-02-28)

#60

Please don’t let Penrhos Country Parc be destroyed
It is rich in wildlife, including Red Squirrels
It is a valuable habitat
We should be planting more woodland, not destroying what we have
It is a valuable green space for Anglesey residents and visitors

Sam Bell (Menai Bridge, 2021-02-28)

#62

I have signed this petition because I think the outline planning granted for the Penrhos site is totally inappropriate for this area of beauty and tranquility, and which be kept open for the residents of Ynys Môn and beyond.

Ann Hesson (Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, 2021-02-28)

#63

The destruction of this area is contrary to Anglesey’s pledge to biodiversity. Ecosystems cannot be replace. Wildlife, particularly red squirrels, will be displaced. There are already enough caravan and camping sites locally.

Penny Barker (Bangor, 2021-02-28)

#64

There is no need for this development. The land is the only woodland in the Area for us to enjoy.

Dave Griffiths (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#65

I think the conditions upon which the planning permission was granted (the construction of Wylfa B) has changed and therefore the criteria to allow the development should be reconsidered. I strongly believe the community will loose more than they will gain if the development goes ahead.

Rhian Bruce (Valley , 2021-02-28)

#66

I’m signing because Penrhos is an absolutely beautiful part of our island.. I have been going there since I was born. It is a haven for so many different species and also for us humans. Allowing planning permission for anyone, especially the likes of Blue Stone would have a detrimental effect. Although it may bring new jobs (not guaranteed as the company is known for hiring foreign workers/moving workers from other sites) I believe there are other places that could be built on & that we must protect this area of beauty

Megan Dixon (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#67

I dont want Penrhos nature reserve destroyed

Cathy Sands (Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, 2021-02-28)

#69

Our planet needs it's established wild life and wild areas far more than it needs holiday accommodation.

Jenny Jepson (Stoke on Trent, 2021-02-28)

#70

Penrhos cannot be destroyed i.e. Ancient trees, Red Squirrels, habitats for countless flora and fauna. The people of Holyhead have used the reserve "not nature park" for generations and most of us believed it was gifted by Rio Tinto for ever. Please think deeply about this before granting any permission to destroy this unique environment.

James Todd (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#72

Anglesey does not need any more caravan sites/holiday.villages
Anglesey needs to maintain its FREE, GREEN spaces that’s are accessible to ALL

Michael Kenyon (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#75

Penrhos is a place of beauty and a natural haven for so many species of animals insects and plants . Does Anglesey really need anymore caravan sites on this scale at a cost to so many animals and the many people and future generations who should be allowed to continue use to enjoy this wonderful place..

Lynn Ringrose (Cheshire, 2021-02-28)

#77

I believe Penrhos Nature Reserve should remain a nature reserve open to all.

Lesley Todd (Anglesey, 2021-02-28)

#79

Penrhos is the most beautiful place on earth! We’ve been going for 40 years! How on earth can building on it ever be allowed?? Red squirrels are a protected species plus the other flora and fauna, it’s rape of the natural world. Heinous crime!

Danielle spencer (Stoke on Trent , 2021-02-28)

#83

The community needs this wonderful area to exercise see nature and find peace. There needs to be a proper survey of nature in all three areas. Penrhos Cea Glas and Kingsland.

Paul Brown (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#84

Normally we spend the majority of the year in Angelsey and spend many an hour walking around PenRhos. We take the grandchildren who love the 'secret garden' looking for squirrels and feeding the ducks. Every time we go there we see things in a different way because of the weather, the seasons etc. It is so tranquil and safe. Better than any medicine. It MUST be offered protection of scientific interest and area of outstanding natural beauty. Because once it's gone its lost forever.

Karen Roberts (Holywell, 2021-02-28)

#85

The destruction to the ecology of penrhos is unforgivable and denying it to the people who love it is damaging to locals and the holiday makers

James Wooldridge (Bodedern, 2021-02-28)

#87

I'm signing this petition as we need to keep nature and more trees and not knock down this beautiful Area who j are home red squirrels and other creatures. This walk hps alot of people with depression and lovely place fir chikdren to find out about nature. There are plenty of fields and areas they can built a caravan site and still appreciate our walks and beaches not too far.

Julie Parkinson (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#94

I regularly walk here with my Welsh Relatives who live on the Island when there are no restrictions and have done for over 20 years I recovered from Cancer but have heart and lung issues but the disabled walk is a lifesaver for me please don’t take it away

Carol Metcalfe (Liverpool, 2021-02-28)

#95

Keep the nature reserve a nature reserve

Samantha owen (Y felin heli, 2021-02-28)

#96

Penrhos should be retained and improved and not built upon. When the trees are gone, they are gone.

Eve McIver (Liverpool, 2021-02-28)

#97

Penrhos is a beautiful resource and if your going to develop anywhere clean up the aluminium site!!!!

Mr Dobbs (Caergeliog, 2021-02-28)

#99

The pandemic has shown us how important it is to be able to get out into nature: don't let this area be taken from the cash strapped majority for the wealthy minority

Sheila Masters (Llanfechell, 2021-02-28)

#105

Myself and my family love Penrhos, the walks, wildlife, and the fact that it is pushchair and wheelchair friendly.

Kathryn howard (Holyhead , 2021-02-28)

#107

I as a local person lived in Holyhead all my life am disgusted that penrhos a part of Holyhead history and heritage should be changed to a holiday village, Penrhos is full of wild life that would be uprooted and killed off if this goes ahead .

Colin Geurtjens (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#108

We love walking in this area

Barbara Harrop (Manchester, 2021-02-28)

#112

This is a local amenity & the public of the area enjoyed unlimited access.
It is an important eco climate area supporting important wildlife.

Margaret Sheila Owen (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#113

We love Penrhos nature reserve, please let it remain as one. The flora and fauna are spectacular and a huge reason for why we holiday regularly on Anglesey.

Elaine Lopez (Chester, 2021-02-28)

#114

What will happen to the wildlife? There are already a lot of caravan parks, b&bs, etc for holiday makers. This development is unnecessary.

Alison Beer (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#117

I can't believe the council can allow this yet I was turned down planning on a plot of land I brought 3 years ago even though planning was given once before the JLDP was brought in

David Smith (Bryngwran , 2021-02-28)

#118

I’m signing because I want to preserve the trees and especially the red squirrels

Julie Weiskrantz (Llangfachraeth , 2021-02-28)

#119

We seriously need to protect our ancient woodland and rare flora, fauna and animals from these kind of development. Penrhos Nature reserve has been a nature reserve for over 50 yrs its an absolutely stunning peaceful, beautiful place. Red squirrels, badgers. Artic terns. Great crested newts, 3 species of bat's, adders, 3 species of bat's, woodland over 200+ yrs old, this is a tourist attraction 8n its own right always has been.

Sharon Jones (Caernarfon, 2021-02-28)

#121

I visit Penrhos regularly when able and appreciate its beauty and the wildlife that lives there. It would be yet another blow to the local biodiversity to destroy such a lovely piece of countryside.

Meriel Roberts (Caernarfon , 2021-02-28)

#126

I want to protect out natural resources

Elaine Wain (Anglesey , 2021-02-28)

#128

Penrhos Nature Reserve/Park. The reason is in the name, a beautiful area which should not be destroyed. Anglesey does not need more holiday areas, this is a tourist attraction on part of the heritage.

Pamela Holden (MANCHESTER, 2021-02-28)

#129

We should be planting more woodland not destroying the tiny amount of woodland on Holy Island. The other tiny patches are on private land as far as ican see on map and penrhos only one we can walk in and see the red squirrels and other rare on ynys monwildlife. We dont need more holiday lets, plenty of caravan parks, hotels etc here already. Bluestones reputation in Pembroke re employment is also extremely poor (family member worked there).

Julia Lowe (Llangefni, 2021-02-28)

#133

I don’t want the destruction of Penrhos Nature Park by developers.

Dale Pearce (Manchester, 2021-02-28)

#134

I am totally opposed to the destruction of this incredibly special area of outstanding beauty. Cannot understand with so many rare species and so many historic buildings and other unique monuments how on earth this can be allowed.

Jill ANKER (Menai bridge, 2021-02-28)

#136

I was born and brought up in Holyhead and still enjoy visiting Penrhos nature reserve, when restrictions allow. It is a beautiful area and must not be destroyed. Trees are important in helping to reduce carbon. This is an ancient woodland. Please think again.

Sandra Milburn (Ellesmere Port, 2021-02-28)

#139

Anglesey’s wealth is its wildlife and beautiful natural habitat.

Rachel Evans (Warrington, 2021-02-28)

#140

A lovely place and outstanding beauty

Jayne Steele (Amlwch, 2021-02-28)

#143

Penrhos Nature Reserve has been a precious, unique place for the local community and visitors to enjoy. The beauty and tranquility it offers is particularly important at this time when mental health and wellbeing are a major issue. I lived on Penrhos before it became a reserve with the wonderful Ken Williams at the helm, and in all that time it has never lost it's ancient charm and rare beauty. It is a jewel in the crown on Anglesey and should never be destroyed by so called land 'development'!

Doreen Hall (Langholm, 2021-02-28)

#146

Seasonal employment- Seasonal unemployment !

Noel Byrne (Salford, 2021-02-28)

#156

I see no justification in destroying this beautiful woodland area. Also, withholding some documents from the public suggests this information would put the development in a bad light.
I was brought up in Holyhead and used to often visit the woods. It's too valuable a site to lose
Surely there are other places for this development.

Peter Miburn (Ellesmere port, 2021-02-28)

#157

Stop ruining our natural spaces

Antony Kershaw (Rhosneigr , 2021-02-28)

#159

I don’t believe that you should build on a nature reserve .And there will be expensive houses built and used as second homes or weekend away homes and unaffordable to local people . There are plenty of other places for building plots not a nature reserve .

Edwina Thomas (Gwynedd , 2021-02-28)

#165

It is unbelievable to even think that the nature park will be destroyed. The council have done some things in their time but this takes the biscuit.

Joan Slingsby (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#170

I'm signing this petition as I understand the importance of Penrhos Nature Park to the people of Anglesey.
An area of natural beauty with Red Squirrels and other protected species.
Its value to the well-being of local folk cannot be overstated.
An asset to the flora, fauna and folk.

Julia Oldfield (Llannerchymedd Anglesey, 2021-02-28)

#173

This area should be preserved

Lynne Parry (Bethesda, 2021-02-28)

#175

Lots of holiday accommodation on Anglesey. No need to desecrate this beauty spot.

John Edwards (Telford, 2021-02-28)

#176

Andrew Conant (Caernarfon, 2021-02-28)

#177

Its been 10 years!!! We need to look at this again!!!

Nicksta Bee (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#178

We cannot lose penrhos nature reserve. You can build a holiday park anywhere. You cannot replace trees that have been here longer than us.

Kathryn Jones (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#180

Don't wish to lose this natural asset

Anthony Oldfield (Llangefni, 2021-02-28)

#181

I am signing this petition because we need to save all these trees and all the wonderful wildlife that lives there, including the red squirrels which are on the endangered list

Sara Jones (Menai Bridge, 2021-02-28)

#182

1. It reduces the green space on Ynys Cybi..
2. The area has been a place where local and visitors can excercise and is a space for peole to stretch out in the natural environment, this would change irrevocably.
2. Proximily to Holyhead for local people: It's an area close to Holyhead where people can de-stress and has been well before even Ken WIllaims and the nature reserve was established.
3. It will bring more pollution, litter, cars to the island.
4. Business activity there will have serious and adverse affects on the wildlife in the area.
5. There will be a negligable amount of long term work for locals and the work that genreated will be low quality.
6 Initial planning and building money would no doubt be spent away from Holy island with the money turover benifit being seen elsewhere.
7 It would be highly unlikely that locals would want use the facilty. i.e. stay at the site.

Bryan Flinn (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#184

I regularly walk around Penrhos as I have done for the last 46 years. I love educating my children as we walk around the woods looking at the different species of flora and fauna and all of the different species of wildlife. It is a huge asset to the people of Holyhead and Anglesey. I pray that my children will be able to take their children around the woods like my grandparents and parents were able to take me.

Levinia Taylor (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#185

We want to save Penrhos nature reserve! For the wildlife and for the future generations to come!

Jenny Jones (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#187

As an Anglesey born and bred resident, I object to the desecration of this lovely coastal park.. There are so many animals, some rare, living here. Anglesey hasn't enough trees that any need felling. Please reconsider ..thanks

Mair Williams (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#189

To save Penrhos Nature Reserve and alls it’s wildlife (including those gorgeous red squirrels), some rare plant life, protected trees, priceless historical features and absolute beauty. If this goes ahead, we are being robbed of so much that can never be replaced.

Pamela Dunne (ABERGAVENNY , 2021-02-28)

#191

Why are we destroying this area

Myfanwy Pritchard (Prestatyn, 2021-02-28)

#195

This most beautiful nature must be preserved for future generations. For the sake of climate change too.

Cynthia Chadwick (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)

#197

Save penrhos for the wildlife and future generations to enjoy it as it is

Ian Moore (Holyhead, 2021-02-28)
