It should be a choice to wear a mask. This is not right and everyone knows it

Dylan Peterson (Yankton, 2021-10-14)

#11

I believe it is my childrens right not to wear a mask

My 4 year old son has autism. He is not meeting his goals on his IEP. He is not able to see his teachers facial expressions. He is nonverbal and needs to see his teachers mouths to learn how to talk. The mask mandate violates IDEA individuals with Disabilities Education Act. IDEA law requires a free and appropriate education to special-needs children. A mask mandate is not appropriate education as it impedes his ability to learn

Travis Arens (Yankton, 2021-10-15)

#13

I’m signing because I don’t want the teachers or students to have to follow a mask mandate. They should be given a choice to pick what is best for themselves. My son has autism and needs to see people’s faces to learn. Because of the mask mandate even his speech therapist at school has to wear a mask. When these same teachers were given a choice during summer school this year- they chose not to wear a mask because they know the special education kids need to see their faces and they care about their progress in learning.

Kelly Arens (Yankton, 2021-10-15)

#14

I'm signing because i have friends who are affected by this.

Traci Sueper Custard (Columbus, 2021-10-16)

#15

The mask mandate isn't necessary and is an overstep by the Yankton School District. This should be parents decision and is leading a dangerous precedence for the future.

Sonja Delaney (Yankton, 2021-10-17)

#16

I believe in personal freedom for everyone!

Rebecca Davis (Yankton, 2021-10-17)

#17

People especially kids should have a choice

Vaughn Davis (Maricopa , 2021-10-17)

#20

Face masks should be optional and are not healthy for the kids. My nephews are in the district schools.

Brittany Weston (Yankton, 2021-10-20)

#21

I feel this mandate takes away the rights of parents to decide what is best for their children. T

Jennifer Kuehler (Yankton, 2021-10-20)

#24

Parents make medical decisions for their kids, not school boards

Brandon Kneifl (Yankton, 2021-10-21)

#29

Making people wear masks during school is a violation of people's right to choose. Also it is easier to understand and learn when you can see each other's entire faces instead of just their eyes.

Andrew Bahm (Yankton, 2021-10-23)

#30

It is a violation of personal rights to force masks on children and goes against our parental consent.

Richard Bahm (Yankton, 2021-10-23)

#33

It should be up to the parents to decide what is best for their kids safety not a school board.

Smith Ethan (Yankton, 2021-10-23)

#36

There is no mask mandate in Yankton County and they don’t require masks and athletic events therefore making the mask mandate void.

Melinda Reichert (Yankton, 2021-10-24)

#39

Masks are 12% efficient at best against covid. There is little to zero point to make children who are less susceptible than any other age group to wear a mask against their will. There's is plenty of science out there that shows these masks are worthless and many ppl in power, like the dingy school board only mandate masks out of greep and power. This school board is disgusting and should step down immediately. I don't have kids but as much as I've heard about the Yankton high school specifically, I would never let my child walk thru those doors, mask Nazism or not.

Anthony Munsell (Yankton, 2021-10-27)

#40

#1 they don’t work
#2 if you were really serious about your convictions that the masks work then why 7:30 until 3:30. This is all posturing. Cancel all sports then if this is so dangerous. The data says this virus is not a huge health threat to children.
#3 this is a violation of personal freedom and parental choice.

Stephani Reinhardt (Yankton , 2021-10-27)

#41

We have our own voices and my kids do not want to wear a mask

Lande Derrick (Yankton, 2021-10-27)

#42

Freedom of choice and parents rights! Tired of dictatorships and money makes the decisions!

Carol Cook (Yankton, 2021-10-27)

#50

If you look at the scientific literature it shows masks are harmful to children and do not stop viral transmission.

Paula Hicks (Yankton , 2021-10-27)

#51

I live in Yankton County

Jennifer Vaith (Menno, 2021-10-27)

#53

I disagree with children being forced to mask when there has been no proof that masks reduce covid transmission in children. When will it ever end? I do not want my child or grandchild to suffer through this plandemic and be forced to be muzzled.

KRIS Llewellyn (Yankton, 2021-10-27)

#54

I am signing this petition because I truly believe it should be each family/students decision.
My child at sacred heart doesn’t wear a mask and they haven’t had any additional cases because of it

Karissa Heine (Yankton, 2021-10-27)

#60

I'm signing because I feel kids should have a choice and a voice. Most schools have not mandated the masks and have given their students the option! A good chunk of our community is getting vaccinated along with a potential vaccine for 5yeara and up. Please take it into consideration. We deserve the right to make our own decision. No one shall do it for us.

Courtney Wagner (Yankton, 2021-11-02)

#62

I support this message!

Brittney Archambeau (Yankton, 2021-11-02)

#63

I would prefer my children not to be wearing masks. Please let each parent make that decision for their own child.

Kim Schmidt (Yankton, 2021-11-02)

#66

I believe masks should not be mandated.

David Cassanova (Yankton, 2021-11-02)

#70

NO scientific data showing the need for this! An under 18 year old has a higher probability of being hit by a car than dying of covid!

Craig Sommer (Yankton , 2021-11-02)

#71

I withdrew my kids last year due to the mandates. We homeschool and will not be returning to the YSD ever since they chose to think they can make medical choices for my family. I have attended and spoke at all the board meetings and they are NOT listening to the attending parents or honoring the students wishes. School boards and districts don't have the authority to make medical choices for families. This is a gross overreach of power. Unacceptable.

Kayla Grashorn (Yankton, 2021-11-02)

#75

Other than stripping another right as a parent to decide whats best for MY children, further evidence clearly shows how unhealthy and quite unsanitary these masks are for our Children. How much longer it has taken my kids to recover from a cold said it all to me. We would see progress over the weekend and it seemed like back to square one come Tuesday again!

Stephany Rechnagel (Yankton , 2021-11-02)

#76

Because I’m a grandparent and the masks are unhealthy!

Vicki Hagemann (Yankton , 2021-11-02)

#77

I’m signing because we should have a right as the parents of our child to say if they need to wear a mask or not and also what is this doing to our children health wise over a long period of time

Nicholas Schmidt (Mission Hill , 2021-11-02)

#78

Please allow this to be an option.

Bailey Novak (Yankton, 2021-11-02)

#80

I believe kids shouldn’t have to wear a mask if we can have festivals and not wear mask it’s crazy

Chauntel Stueck (Yankton SD, 2021-11-02)

#83

I believe the mask mandate is child abuse

Abigail Peltier (Yankton , 2021-11-02)

#84

It’s bs having child puking in mask.

Lacey Claire Sestak (Volin, 2021-11-02)

#86

I’m signing because it’s not up to the school board how other people’s children live. Period.

Amy Johnson (Yankton, 2021-11-02)

I’m a Grandparent with a grandchild in the public school system. I am very concerned and against the mask mandates. These mask mandates for our children are causing multiple health related issues many of which have just started to surface not to mention the potential future long term health issues not yet realized. Our most sacred & precious responsibility is to protect the most vulnerable of our populations physical & psychological well-being. I find this policy is a draconian overreach by the School Board and all who support it. Will the decision makers for this policy accept all financial, physical & mental related issues to these children as they continue their life’s journey? This segment of the population has been published to have a 99.9% survival rate.
Respectfully submitted as their Voice not being heard.

John Hagemann (Yankton, 2021-11-02)

#92

Face masks do more harm than good.

Michael Grave (Yankton, 2021-11-03)

#93

My kids should have their own decisions on whether or not they want to wear them .

Feather Red bear (Yankton, 2021-11-03)

#97

I believe this is an issue that should be left in the hands of the parents.

Shirley Wipf (Yankton , 2021-11-03)

#104

I am signing this petition for the health and we’ll being of my grandchildren who attend Yankton public schools. They have been sick with colds and coughing since having to wear a mask all day.

Lori Smith’s (Utica, 2021-11-03)

#106

I feel this mask mandate infringes on the freedoms of us as Americans. To what end will we have to wear masks, it's impossible to cure a virus, if we could cure them we wouldn't have the flu.

Gabriel Leonard (Yankton , 2021-11-03)

#107

freedom and my rights.

Gregg Ehresmann (Yankton, 2021-11-03)

#109

I'm signing because, while I respect differing opinions, I want the respect of my opinion to matter also, not just those opinions that feel they can dictate their opinions on others!

Deborah Sage (Yankton , 2021-11-03)

#116

I am a grandparent of students in Yankton School District. Tell me how Covid stops at 3:30 and does not spread at Football games. Did the Yankton School District get paid to mask our children?

Julie Auch (Lesterville, 2021-11-03)

#117

I have a grandson attending School in Yankton and I am concerned for him. It’s parental choice. Masks do not work.

Elsie Larson (Yankton, 2021-11-04)

#127

There is literally no data that shows the slowing of community spread in districts where schools were masked.

Eric Jones (Yankton, 2021-11-04)

#128

I believe that the mask mandate is ineffectual and unconstitutional. I have grandchildren in the Yankton school district.

It’s wrong to make our kids wear a mask all day

Jennifer Schmidt (Yankton, 2021-11-04)

#130

My daughter doesn’t like it, it’s hard for her to breathe. And I feel the kids should ha e their right to wear one. Not forced to wear one just to get their education.

Krystal Posada (Yankton , 2021-11-04)

#131

It’s stupid to have a bunch of children be FORCED to wear masks just to get an education

Shayla Hjelm (Yankton, 2021-11-04)

#132

Parents, kids and teachers should be able to choose for themselves whether or not to wear a mask.

Lisa Anderson (Yankton, 2021-11-04)

#196

Humans, let alone children, should not be required to hide their identity and breathe in their carbon dioxide for hours at a time, day after day. ESPECIALLY with studies proving masks have zero benefit.
