I believe in equal opportunity to practice any and all recognized religions on a SUNY campus. 1st Amendment right to freedom of religion accommodations should apply to a state university campus and be guaranteed to all students. According to the Farmingdale Student Handbook, "All students have the right to: Exercise civil rights and practice of religion without interference by the investigative, criminal justice, or judicial or conduct process of the College." Additionally, the Student Handbook states that "Farmingdale State College is committed to fostering a diverse community of outstanding faculty, staff, and students, as well as ensuring equal educational opportunity, employment, and access to services, programs, and activities, without regard to an individual’s race, color, national origin, religion, creed, age, disability, sex..." Please honor this commitment. Thank you.

I’m signing this petition because I feel the school didn’t meet the needs of students and there was a attitude of carelessness towards the students demands. Rosevelt hall is going under construction so the prayer room won’t be available to FSC students therefore we asked for a new room. It’s been a while now students have been praying outside not in a designated place in the cold. MSA has about 100 members and there are more students who pray that are not part of MSA.

Having a Prayer Room and participating in Wudu, which is the cleaning ritual that is done before prayer, is important for Muslims and the members of the MSA will benefits from being able to do this. Farmingdale State College is proud to call itself an inclusive institution, and finding a proper area for the MSA to participate in prayer and Wudu will demonstrate how much they care about making that statement true.
