#202

I will be moving to the area next year.

Stephen Hull (Kingston, 2022-01-15)

#204

For 13 years while living in East Ship Harbour we were customers of this bank and considered the service exemplary!
The loss of the service will greatly impact the Eastern Shore.

DeYoung Dianne (Dartmouth, 2022-01-15)

#205

Scotia Bank in Sheet Harbour is a bank our neighborhood and surrounding depending on for years , including myself and all my family members that grew up on the eastern shore . It should continue be available for those whom live and come away to use. Shouldn't be token away

Theresa Burgoyne (Truro, 2022-01-15)

#208

Too many seniors in our community will be at a huge disadvantage without a branch close by.

Tanya Cameron (Mushaboom, 2022-01-15)

#210

There needs to be a bank down their for the families that live there no is not a good reason not too. Also many people done have cars or dont have online line banking, some people are older and dont know how to use the online banking or also dont trust online banking and prefer in person.

Tanya Williams (Dartmouth ns , 2022-01-15)

#211

I am signing because I think that it is important to keep our small communities vibrant. Also, there has been much work to attract newcomers to the province and lack of services makes a place less desirable.

Eileen Donahoe (Port Williams, 2022-01-15)

#212

I support small communities and a rural lifestyle.

Bruce Conrod (Gaetz Brook , 2022-01-15)

#214

This is an essential service to this community. To have to travel an hour and a half to do banking is inexcusable!

Wendy Cross (Moser River , 2022-01-15)

#216

I’m signing this petition because our community is made up of a lot of elderly people who do not know how to do online banking and need help from the workers at the bank. Also, if a Scotiabank member needs to go into the bank, they would now (after bank is gone) have to drive 1 hour+ to get to the bank and also 1 hour+ to get back home.

Hannah Hubley (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-15)

#217

We want & need our Bank . Their are alot of customers who depend fully on the bank & alot do not have cars to go elsewhere.

Linda Seguin (HRM Tangier. , 2022-01-15)

#218

We need to keep this bank open, it is very important to this community!

Tonya Steinborn (Port Dufferin, 2022-01-15)

#219

I am concerned about Seniors and being able to have a personal
Expeirence when doing my monthly banking

David Malay (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-15)

#220

I am signing because this is a terrible loss to our small community. Most of our residents are seniors who prefer in person banking. Internet service here is sketchy so please don't recommend on line banking as an option. Sometimes in a kind world big business has to take a bit of a loss because it is the right thing to do. If a financial loss is even the problem. I don't believe it is. I hope whoever made this decision is struggling to sleep at night. Don't assume we will gently let you roll our accounts to a new Scotiabank I will be changing banks. If I have to travel to do my banking I will be considering my options.

Lorrie Boutilier (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-15)

#222

We have recently moved to the area and just switched our banking to Bank of Nova Scotia since it was local and convenient. It would be a shame to lose that from our community.

Rebekah Mackey (Mississauga, 2022-01-15)

#223

Soctiabank in Sheet Harbour is an essential service for many people in our community.

Devon Query (Spry Bay, 2022-01-15)

#225

For the seniors in the area who do not know how to or have access to online banking. Many areas have limited/terrible internet.

Andrea MacDonald (Dartmouth , 2022-01-15)

#227

This is a growing area, so it’s quite surprising to see Scotiabank shutting down this branch. I find it hard to believe they’re not making profits from this location.

Candace Mackean (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-15)

#228

Our community NEEDS this bank. There are many elderly people that live here, many who do not drive and require assistance to family and friend to assist them with getting to the bank. Many do not use a computer to go the online route. Scotiabank do the right thing!

Wanda Boutilier (Mushaboom, 2022-01-15)

#230

Much needed in area.

Craig Weir (East ship Harbour , 2022-01-15)

#231

Rural Canadians deserve service form corporations too - not just city people.

Marike Finlay (Port Dufferin, 2022-01-15)

#237

I am a senior and moved all my banking to Scotia Bank in Sheet Harbour 4 years ago because it was close and convenient and friendly. I am so disappointed, would never had done this if I had known it would close. It has been a long time financial institution in this community.

Evelyn Wentzell (Moser River, 2022-01-15)

#239

My father still uses the bank daily and i need their services when i visit as well. Many in the community need it daily & it would not be good for the community be the main bank for a majority of the population who cant travel to nearer banks, which are hours away.

Zachary Murphy (Dartmouth, 2022-01-15)

#242

I think it’s important to have community support businesses in small towns across the Eastern Shore. Otherwise you are just dooming the communities to a future of non existence.

Brandie Haley (Moser River, 2022-01-15)

#247

I’m signing because this Scotiabank not only offers employment to people in a community that is hard to find employment but also saves elderly community members an hour and a half plus drive to the next nearest branch location.

April Webber (South Section, 2022-01-15)

#249

We need business to stay in the Eastern Shore...not leave

Shawn S (East Petpeswick , 2022-01-15)

#255

Do the right thing.

Greg Williams (West Petpeswick, 2022-01-15)

#258

Because it’s not fair for older people who pay there bills in person to have to drive a extra couple of hours to the nearest Scotia bank

Savannah Pye (Sheet harbour , 2022-01-15)

#259

I use that bank on a daily basis I would have to drive over an hour away to get to another one

Rebekkah Smith (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-15)

#264

If Scotiabank closes in Sheet Hbr, the nearest Scotiabank will 100kms away, and my family will be changing banking provider.

Francis Josey (Halifax Regional Municipality, 2022-01-15)

#268

I am a patron of the bank and I would have to drive 1.5 hours to go to another Scotiabank. It’s a huge part of our community.

Julie Adamson (Spry Bay, 2022-01-15)

#271

I will be changing Banks should this closure take place this is a complete disgrace to the area and to the workers at the Bank.

Terrance Rutledge (Moser River, 2022-01-15)

#272

Heather Carver

Heather Carver (Moser River, 2022-01-15)

#274

With our NS home being in Mitchell Bay how far do you think we should have to travel to go to a branch.

Joann Neal (Frankford, 2022-01-15)

#277

We are a scotia bank customer and need this bank in our small town

Liz Mackinnon (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-16)

#278

the Scotia Bank is important to our community.

patrisha munroe (moser river, 2022-01-16)

#281

Iam a community member and belong to this branch myself.

Jena Richards (Sheet harbour, 2022-01-16)

#284

We need to keep services avail for people in the area, not everyone had access to online banking or can afford to travel 1 1/2 hrs to do their banking

Amanda Perrier (Dartmouth, 2022-01-16)

#285

It should be kept open for the jobs it provides, the elderly and business who use the tellers, and the prosperity and continuous growth of our community.

Denise Logan (Sober Island, 2022-01-16)

#286

It is very necessary to the citizens and to the economy of this community to keep the bank. Closing the Bank of Nova Scotia in Sheet Harbour would be a step backwards, not forwards which is the direction all of our Maritime communities need to thrive, not just survive or just hang on by a thread which so many are currently doing. My Husband and I are soon to be part of Sheet Harbour and spending the rest of our years in his family home. We have seen many progressive improvements made over the years there, but local commerce has been on the decline. More support for local business is needed and the Bank of Nova Scotia is an integral part of that process.

Crystal Malay (St. Albert, 2022-01-16)

#289

Because our community can not lose this service that most of this community uses. Worried about the people who has no means of transportation or internet use. This is not right to take away something that was put here over 100 years ago.

Valerie Hawes (Sheet Harbour , 2022-01-16)

#290

There is no need for this bank to close. What is gonna happen to the seniors that depend on this bank

Erma Hubley (Spry Bay, 2022-01-16)

#291

as a Moser River resident I now have 1 1/2 hours to another bank,,, not an hour like Sheet Harbour residents and there a many seniors who are unable to drive that far and it is obvious whoever made this decision has not got a clue about the geography of this area,,a very small percentage of the people in this area regularly go to Truro, Truro, really!!if I have to drive this far , you can be sure it will not be to a Scotia Bank.

Lesley Buchanan (Moser River, 2022-01-16)

#295

I signing because I want to help save the bank that grew up with had my first account with and know on a first name basis. It's not just the elderly who can't travel and do banking elsewhere it's everyone. It costs so much to leave the community you live in so that was why I was glad knowing there was a bank right in sheet harbour. Someone you can call if ever you had any questions and needed help. If this branch goes how are we to go do our banking we have no car and don't make a lot of money. A lot of people are in the same bout also. Please keep. The Scotia Bank in sheet harbour open its very much needed.

Donna Fralick-Maguire (Sheet harbour ns, 2022-01-16)

#297

As a long standing member of the Sheet Harbour Chamber of Commerce, I have worked with many in the community to help build a place where we encourage growth and prosperity. This is truly a step back and sends the wrong message to new businesses and people looking to move here! It is also a disservice to the residents and businesses that have patronized Scotiabank over the years. I am disappointed Scotiabank!

Marilyn Munroe (Sheet Harbour , 2022-01-16)

#299

We need our local Scotia bank in sheet harbour. Not everyone uses online banking. Machines are taking over and putting people out of jobs. I especially feel bad for the seniors who will have to put there trust in someone who has a computer that will probably rip them off in the end. Scotia bank•••••• your just plain GREEDY!!!!! Shame on you!!!

Tanya Chambera (Ecum Secum, 2022-01-16)

#301

I'm signing because our community deserves the same level of service offered in the city.

Jacquelyn Landry (Sheet harbour, 2022-01-16)

#302

My whole family lives down in sheet harbour and use the banks down there and it’s something that is used daily by the whole community

Jenna Leadbetter (Halifax , 2022-01-16)

#303

I use this bank to do all my banking

John Dalrymple (Halifax, 2022-01-17)

#305

I live in Sheet Harbour until I was 17 yrs old .I used that bank , when I was growing up. plus I learn how to save money if I wants buy things when I was older.

Barry Harnish (Dartmouth, 2022-01-17)

#307

Ridiculous to be closing branches when companies are making money especially through a pandemic

Troy Strang (Port Dufferin , 2022-01-17)

#309

I am an older resident (87 years old) , I am deaf , I do not drive , have been using the Sheet Harbour Scotia Bank for more than 20 years .

Elisabeth Bigras (Port Dufferin, 2022-01-17)

#312

I love Sheet Harbour and the Scotia Bank branch there is apart of the community. Ive been going to that Scotia bank my entire life and often count on the employees there, who I know personally, to help me becuase they know the ins and outs of my financial history. The branch should stay.

Craig Coady (Halifax, 2022-01-17)

#315

Because a small town with no bank is a town who's going to die. We need to support our local bank. Someone who knows nothing about our town decided this.

Andrew Barkhouse (Port Dufferin , 2022-01-17)

#318

It’s my locate bank and i use it all the time

Doucette Jeffery (Tangier, 2022-01-17)

#319

This is a vital business that we need not only that there are people’s jobs will be lost an if we loos this bank we as seniors an residents will have to travel at least 1 1/(2 hours one way to do any banking business j. It will put extra costs to the residents along the Eastern shore. Let’s stop this

Beve Boutilier (Tangier, 2022-01-17)

#320

If Scotiabank needs to close a branch - close one in the city where there is a bank on every corner. Close sheet harbour loose ALL the accounts!

Tabitha Hamelin (Port dufferin, 2022-01-17)

#321

We live in a rural area that prob has a population of 65-70% elders! If this bank closes, our elders will not do on-line banking! They will go out of town to bank and when they do they will no doubt buy groceries etc while they are.
This is going to have a domino effect for our stores. We lost the sales for seniors like Milk, bacon bread (the necessities) etc at Lawton's to a bunch of home aids we don’t need, now the bank?
I’m appalled that this is even being considered!
I worked retail during Covid and I know personally how high sales went and how many people moved to this area, foot traffic is def up, so for the shareholders to say they are loosing money....I call BS! I will personally haul every account I have from scotia bank if this happens and go to RBC and I will be taking my grocery business with me as well!
What about the employees of this institution? We are isolated enough, what a fabulous way to NOT bring people to our beautiful town!!!

Vicki Crowell (Sheet Harbour , 2022-01-17)

#322

I have family there

Joan Landry (Halifax , 2022-01-17)

#323

Love going to this bank and the people that work there also so friendly.

Laverne Howe (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-17)

#325

Live in the community and a Scotia bank customer

Kelly Mackenzie (Tangier, 2022-01-17)

#329

Also add my mother Daisy Lawson to this petition. That bank is necessary to the seniors who don’t use telephone banking or internet. Sometimes bank do dumb things. This is a big one

Richard Lawson (Dartmouth, 2022-01-18)

#331

Too bad you decided to close banks here in Nova Scotia.Small towns need a bank and Scotia decided to turn their backs on them here. Apparently, inclusion is only important when you make money off of it

bob crain (lake echo, 2022-01-18)

#333

I had the same bank account at this branch since 10 years old . This bank had the best staff... there are many times when I needed a staff member for help. I'm the "little guy" and corporate greed is sinking our citizens... step by step.

Charity Logan (Harrigan Cove, 2022-01-18)

#337

I’m signing this because it will directly affect our community. So many people depend on it.

Michele Levy (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-18)

#338

I'm signing this petition because there is a real need for this Scotia bank branch in Sheet Harbour.

Randy Squires (Tangier N. S. , 2022-01-18)

#339

do my small business baking there if closing will take business elsewhere

james bettes (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-18)

#343

We are in need of this bank....our community depends on it

Rhonda Losier (West Quoddy , 2022-01-19)

#347

This bank has been in our community for a very long time. Most of our rural area is made up of seniors, and taking this away from that population is very unfair. I myself have the ability to online bank, but am dreading this closure. I can guarantee Scotiabank will lose a considerable amount of business if this closure happens. I will definitely put my finances somewhere else.

Lisa MacCarthy (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-19)

#350

I’m signing because this bank is vital to our small rural community. The bank that they are transferring accounts to is almost an hour and half from the bank that is closing, but even further from many of the clients effected. And that is over minor rural roads. Our community is largely seniors and low income- transportation is an issue for many. Our internet service is slow and unreliable. The bank is also a significant employer in our community.
If this happens it will be a major loss to our community.

Judith Graham (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-20)

#351

The letter rec'd today from Peter Fitzner ,SB reads:: : "after careful consideration of the market...we will be much better equipped to provide one-on-one service in Truro " !!!!! What does this say to the current staff AND how is forcing customers ( if there are any remaining) to drive 1hr16min in the best weather to a bank no one knows ,make service better. The Sheet Harbour staff are part of and know the community. Bottom lines are important BUT everything does not revolve around mortgages and loans-there is a community who relies on the involvement of the Bank and the security that the Bank implies by its' very presence. Scotia Bank formerly The Bank of Nova Scotia, has been in Sheet Harbour since 1921-through thick and thin , small businesses ,the surrounding community AND seniors who have been loyal to you deserve better .
Please reconsider this devastating action.

john mosher (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-20)

#353

Many seniors in our community do not have access to the internet...and Truro is over a hour drive away if the bank closes they will take their busy elsewhere to the credit union.

Dawn Howe-Power (Sheet Harbour , 2022-01-20)

#354

I can’t believe after all these years and all the money that goes through that bank that they would choose to close. This will be good for the Credit Union in Sheet Harbour as I believe they will pick up the business.

Joanne Smiley-MacQueen (Port Dufferin , 2022-01-20)

#355

Our community needs this service for businesses , and to keep what services we have here in our community.

Kim Kenney (Sheet harbour , 2022-01-20)

#356

There are seniors and others who have a hard enough time trying to get to the Sheet Harbour branch that is close and after 105 years you're going to close it?! Sheet Harbour NEEDS our bank.

Kirtley Beaver (Moser River , 2022-01-20)

#358

I have family roots in Sheet Harbor and can understand the importance of this bank.
Removing it from the community will be the beginning of the end for Sheet Harbor.

Wendy Sceviour (Halifax, 2022-01-20)

#361

This is a necessary business in this small community!!!

Lynn Dearsley (Moosehead, 2022-01-20)

#363

This bank is a community necessity to many local citizens, especially to those who cannot travel great distances to another location, to those who have no online access, and as a general business necessary to the functioning of a local community.

Roberta Mildenberger (Mushaboom, 2022-01-20)

#368

I am a small business owner and I bank with Scotiabank in Sheet Harbour. Taking 3 to 4 hours out of my day just to drive to a branch is just ridiculous. A bank is the cornerstone of a community and removing it will cause a huge void that won’t be filled.

Neil Maclean (Port Dufferin, 2022-01-21)

#369

The Bank of NS is paramount on the Eastern Shire of NS. This closure is a slap in the face to all our seniors who supported this bank for a hundred yrs. Please stay open.

Melinda Hillier (Sheet Harbour, NS, 2022-01-21)

#371

It is an essential service that the majority of residents of Sheet Harbour rely on. Where the majority of the population are Senior Citizens and do not do their banking on line.

Balcom Patricia (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-21)

#372

I'm signing because my 80 year old mother still lives in Sheet Harbour and uses this branch almost daily. She does not bank online or by telephone. Our family has banked with Scotiabank for over 50 years, 40 at this branch. Please do not close this branch.

Craig Smith (Victoria, 2022-01-22)

#376

I'm signing due to my mother being a senior in the community who relies on doing her banking at Scotiabank, someone who does not use the internet

Janice Burgoyne (Port Dufferin, 2022-01-23)

#377

My mother lives in the community and has been a faithful customer of the bank for decades, as were her siblings and parents.

Rachel Barbour (Dartmouth, 2022-01-23)

#379

I ama customer of The Sgeet Harbour Branch and want it to remain open.

MacDonald Agnes (Lower Sackville, 2022-01-24)

#380

It is a three hour round trip to Truro just from Sheet Harbour . Add an additional hour for those customers who travel from communities east or west of us . In my volunteer capacities in the community I often handle cash and coin …. How will that be managed in a branch so far away …. For both deposits and withdrawals for events , etc . There are so many issues that affect our communities of the Eastern Shore to be asked to relocate . I’ve banked with Scotiabank since I got my first account at ten years old …. 56 years ago. I am extremely disappointed in what they are proposing and who I thought they were as a company I have respected and trusted.

Janice Christie (Sheet Harbour, 2022-01-24)

#381

I am outraged that Scotiabank would even consider closing the bank in Sheet Harbour. Many people whom many are seniors who do not have a computer prefer banking in person. I honestly don't know what these people will do and having to drive to Truro is insane. Banks are necessary in these small communities. Closing this bank will be a huge hardship for the communities that use it.

Sandra Levy (Halifax county, 2022-01-25)

#384

I grew up around the sheet harbour area and the people in the area need this branch to remain open. A lot of people will be switching to royal bank 40 miles away in musquidboit hbr.

keith mackenzie (Head of Chezzetcook, 2022-01-25)

#386

This Scotiabank is needed in Sheet harbour, below are just a few of the reasons :

1. Many older residents do not have access to on-line banking, while others are not comfortable using newer technology.
2. Residents will have to drive a long distance to visit another Scotiabank, which could potentially cause financial hardship. Also some customers are not physically able to travel this far.
3. People with an intellectual disability need a teller to help them with their finances.
4. At times, ATM's run out of funds, without the bank, residents will not have access to the cash needed.
5. For those who do on-line banking, unreliable internet service can be frustrating and possibly lead to late payments.
This bank needs to stay open!

Theresa Parks (Halifax, 2022-01-25)

#390

It's a good bank and they are the only bank around for miles it will mean people will have to travel for anywhere from 45 to 60 min to get to another bank....and they are very pleasant and helpful

JOYCE Erskine (Upper musquodoboit halifax n.s, 2022-01-26)

#392

Because they need a 🏦 bank in a small community like this also it’s to far to go anywhere where else

Martha Burgoyne (Dartmouth N S, 2022-01-27)

#393

I grew up in Sheet Harbour .There are a lot of seniors in the area who do not use computers and they go to the bank for service. The nearest bank is 100 kilometres away. Please rethink this closure .

Nora McInnis (Bridgewater, 2022-01-28)

#395

My parents use this bank and do not have internet. If this bank closes so will their account

Tammy MacMillan (Pictou , 2022-02-02)

#398

I grew up in mushaboom ( my grand parents still live there) sheet harbour has a large amount of seniors that can't travel far to do basic banking skills, a lot of this is paying everyday bills as seniors are not always up on different technology. This is probably one of the most poor decisions sheet harbour has made. You're never going to keep the harbour alive if you don't keep basic services !
