Retain Our Green Space – Orlynn Park Green, Adjacent to the Forge & Remount Farm Lusk (Motion 749)

Fingal need to get their act together and build access roads for new housing on the periphery of towns or create a new town with amenities near the train tracks at loughsinny in the same way Adamstown and cherrywood have been created. Pushing more housing into higher density areas with reduced green space is a recipe for disaster. They are doing this in both Lusk at Orlynn park and Skerries at Mourne view. Probably more that I am not aware of. There is a huge shortage of green space already in these towns and reducing these spaces is not the answer. While there is clear a need for more housing this taking of shortcuts is just lazy planning, against the wishes of existing residents and not in the interest of new residents either. There is plenty land in Lusk which can be developed to meet the growing need of housing without compromising these precious open spaces. People want to live in towns with amenities not herded like cattle into ones where amenities are built on. Open up the available land around towns, cpo if required and stop trying to build on what few open spaces you actually provide.

Lisk has enough houses. We need oir green spaces for our mental health and physical health. We need to escape houses, be in the park areas and breath, with our children, and dogs.
Lusk has enough houses.

Kids play here, my daughters football team have much needed pitches on this green and Lusk needs space like this for activities and not just more houses

I’m signing because I believe the government needs to do a better job at finding a balance between our green spaces and housing and the main way to do that is to protect our green areas that residents care about and take the time to recognise and fight for with petitions like this.

There's enough internal building within the town.
Play areas are slowly going to require transport to areas outside the town land.

We train our football teams there!

I have lived very close to the green for the past 42 years and have seen the green being reduced over the years many times which is fine but I now feel enough has been taken as it is now feeds into a few estates and can we not learn from our covid days how important it was to everyone to have this facility. And also where are all the lovely little kids to go to play their Saturday and Sunday soccer games. To this day I enjoy the noise fun and laughter from them all at the weekends. FCC give us a break you are already building enough around us here in Lusk.

All the families in Orlynn Park and surrounding village have enjoyed this lovely little green park for over 40 years it shouldn’t be made any smaller it’s very important for children to have access to Green areas near houses

I'm signing this petition as I believe it was agreed this Green Space would be used for a football pitch and the plan to rezone it breaches this agreement

I lived in Orlando Oark for over 10 years. This green space is vital to the recreational life of the town, particularly with so much building work going on, we need somewhere for people to go for recreational purposes.

Nicola Gaffney (Lusk, 2022-02-02)

The green area adjacent to my house has always been and remains the only safe area for children to play and recreational area for adults.

I grew up in orlynn park and have many fond memories of playing here as a child. It is only a small section of that field remaining. Two housing estates and ring road are already built on this land. Enough is enough. Let the children play!

Robert Corr (Lusk , 2022-02-02)

We need to keep our green spaces

Bit by bit you're letting the much needed green spaces turn into more and more concrete mazes with little thought given to the fact that those open spaces are needed for the health and wellbeing of the existing residents. People shouldn't have to walk or drive out of their housing estates, especially with children, in order to find a decent open space to play in. That area (old 1st and 2nd fields) used to be about 3 times the size it has been reduced to now. Enough is enough, leave the green space be. If that part of the green goes it will just be a matter of time and lack of common sense before the rest of the green gets further chipped away at. Stop squeezing houses in and retain the open spaces.

Stephen O'Reilly (Dublin, 2022-02-05)

I'm signing because this green patch makes the green a lot bigger. When matches are being played in the green, this extra area allows us to use the park at the same time. It's not a big area but it makes a hugh difference to us, particularly during the summer when the green is in constant use.

Maureen Gaffney (Dublin, 2022-02-07)

#458

This is a much needed space, there is already enough development going on in the area without taking this space away, training and sports and children use this space daily and should be kept as it is.

Margaret Farrell (Dublin, 2022-02-07)

#462

I’m signing this as it is vital for everyone in Lusk, not just Orlynn Park, that this land is kept as open space and never built on.

Gary Finegan (Dublin, 2022-02-09)

The Orlynn Park green space is important to the people of Lusk. I personally use the space for football training.

We need to keep our green areas. The kids play football on this space. The wonderful lusk festival will be using this area.

It's a shame that FCC continues with the practice of authorising new builds on top of each other in Lusk without ensuring that a decent infrastructure is put in place first.

Colm Sheeran (Lusk, 2022-03-28)

#496

I want to object to Orlynn Park Green space being built on by Fingal county council. They are building too many houses in Lusk without building amenities e.g. hospital facilities for our population, more school’s, a community centre, pubs and restaurants for all the community and for every age group.
