Stop the fill of the Mast Canal

I am adamantly against the idea that a car wash would be allowed to take away marine habitat. We have too many car washes in Cape Coral already. Do we not have an obligation to protect marine life in this beautiful area? Has business development become more important than the feeding and breeding areas that are used by our marine friends?? I OBJECT!!!!!
Please protect our marine habitat!

Melanie Pilling (Cape coral, 2022-03-05)

#3

WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER CAR WASH!! Our cars dont even get that dirty! And this is a terrible spot to build it

Brian Pilling (Cape Coral, 2022-03-06)

#5

We do not need or want another car wash!!

Sophia Seminara (Cape Coral, 2022-03-06)

Environmental Hazzard

#8

STOP THE RUINING OF THE WILDLIFE HABITAT.
MANATEES AND BABIES, DOLPHINS, MANY BIRDS, EGRETS, BLUE HERON, ETC. RESIDE HERE.

Rose Thom (Cape Coral, 2022-03-06)

#9

This is not a suitable location for a business of this type, for many reasons.

Dave Pilling (Cape Coral FL , 2022-03-06)

#10

I dont believe the canal should be filled for environmental reasons

Sue Berger (Cape coral, 2022-03-06)

#14

I am opposed to the arbitrary nature in policies of giving permits changing commercial to residential to Commercial 4the Benefit of the developer not in the best interest of the residents and taxpayers of Cape coral.
The immediate neighbors have legitimate concerns regarding chemicals being used in a car wash.
The Florida state state collected money for 3 years for special license plates that said save the manatee. But it was in a fund because they didn't know what to do with it. This is something they can do with it save the manatee from poisoning

Irma Backelant (CAPE CORAL, 2022-03-06)

#15

There is no shortage of car washes in Cape Coral. Manatees are dying in record numbers. Allowing an unnecessary business that could cause further harm to manatees and other marine life is unacceptable. Permits should be denied.

Janice Tribble (Cape Coral , 2022-03-07)

#19

I Do not want a car wash on our waterway, the mast canal.

Tom Hodson (Cape Coral, 2022-03-07)

#20

I live on this canal. Leave the canal and wildlife alone.

Kevin Snow (Cape Coral, 2022-03-09)

#21

It will affect the neighborhood negatively and will be an eyesore for the people living there

Jason Jenkins (Cape Coral, 2022-03-09)

#23

I am signing because I fought the canal being filled in once before and thought wine prevailed. There is no need to disrupt marine life any more. A car was is not an essential business. Reopen the one one block away

John Torbeck (Cape zciral, 2022-03-09)

#26

I agree with my neighbors and do not want the canal filled in, and another one of many car washes too close to the water.

John Hill (Cape Coral, 2022-03-10)

#27

I do not want more destruction of Cape Coral's habitat, canals, over use of land due to a housing crisis. Cape Coral's City council has absolutely NO foresight on City issues. Roads, utilities, water and sewers.
We do not need a car wash that wants to fill in canals. No. No. No.

Rosanne Stein (Cape Coral, 2022-03-12)

#28

I’m signing because we don’t need another car wash! We need to leave the natural habitats alone for all wildlife, including dolphins and manatees. Stop the destruction!!’

Kim Hamilton (Cape Coral, 2022-03-12)

#29

Enough is enough ridiculous all for a car wash just stop already plenty of land else where to build it and how many damn car washes do we need

Kimberly Ellingsworth (Cape Coral, 2022-03-12)

#35

The integrity of Cape Coral’s canal infrastructure is unique and should be preserved or improved upon, not damaged or altered to accommodate a single business…

Jason Hite (Cape coral, 2022-03-14)

#38

I'm all for protection of the manatees. We've seen many manatees massacred here in East Florida due to stupid trump boat parades!

Brenda Brinkley (Lake Worth Beach, 2022-03-14)

#39

It’s setting a bad precedent

Anne Sperlongano (Cape Coral , 2022-03-15)

#41

There is absolutely no reason to add another car wash. Once this is allowed you open up a can of worms.

Dick Wagner (Cape Coral , 2022-03-16)

#43

save the wildlife, manatees, etc. Manatees are becoming extinct.

Robbin Sandlin (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#45

Environmental issues. We need to keep our canals and parks for wildlife.

Kolve Johnell (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#46

We have plenty of car washes in Cape Coral. Absolutely no need to destroy more of our natural surroundings to add another one. Please stop this from going forward.

CHRISTINA CANGIALOSI (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#49

I do not want to see our canals polluted. I live on a canal near the yacht club and already see enough pollution from the lake O releases.

ANNETTE E BOHS (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#50

Should have not made it ok to closed in canal

Phyllis Meyer (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#56

I'm signing because we need to protect the wildlife and environment and stop anyone from causing harm to them, including putting a car wash or any business on this canal and filling it in.

T CLINE (CAPE CORAL, 2022-03-17)

#58

We need to protect natural habitats, NOT build more unneeded car washes

Brian Spain (Fort Myers, 2022-03-17)

#59

i'm signing because our canals are what cape coral all about. Each is precious

Russell Rega (cape coral, 2022-03-17)

#62

This is opening a can of worms! You start with filling in this canal then you decide you want to rezone another piece of property and fill in that canal and on it goes! What drew us to Cape Coral in the first place over 20 years ago were the canals not a car wash! There are many commercial lots available for a car wash to be built with out filling in a canal. This is totally unacceptable!!!!

Sandra Lynn (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#63

The City of Cape Coral needs to act in a more ethical and transparent manner.....otherwise VOTE and REPLACE these shady " politicians".

Angela Oliver (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#65

I think it's outrageous to fill in a canal in Cape Coral for a car wash to be built. Not necessary!

Susan Demogenes (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#66

I am opposed to filling in the canal. I live a few blocks away from this location. It will set a very bad precedent. If this is allowed, then it will open the floodgates for companies to fill in canals.

Rick Robison (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#67

I'm an extremely concerned Cape Coral citizen! Enough taking away our water resources for unnecessary development

Warren Craig Lantz (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#70

These canals were created to make our city! Why would we fill any canal in for any reason except for an environmental concern.
The plot of land is a plot of land. If your business doesn't fit on that plot. Find another plot of land! The fact that the powers to be in city hall let this project get this far is quite alarming.

Joe Trippy (CAPE CORAL, 2022-03-17)

#75

We need to do everything we can to protect our wildlife. There are more important services that the consumers and this city need. Leave the canals alone!!!

Nancy and Donald Regan (Cape Coral, FL, 2022-03-17)

#77

enough with the destruction of wildlife areas for private commercial gain

carol honabach (cape coral, 2022-03-17)

#83

We have enough car washes and if there was no sunshine discussions about this project, those responsible should be fired, unelected, or charged with violations of their oath of office duty.

Bruce Greenberg (Fort Myers, 2022-03-17)

#91

I cannot fathom what our city leaders were thinking when they approved this asinine plan. It brings to mind the Jimmy Buffet lyrics, “ paved paradise to put up a parking lot”

Cathy Cooksley (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#94

We do not need a canal filled in for a car wash!!! We need to protect our sea creatures.

Susan Wojciechowski (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#95

Please do not allow this canal to be filled in, protect the species that live in it and surely they can find a property to build another car wash that does not need this

Andrew Walton (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#96

Cape Coral does not need another car wash especially if you are talking about filling in a canal. That isn't fair to the home owners. There is plenty of empty land. Pease go elseware.

Patty Trazzera-Greco (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#98

Don't want a car wash there

Amber Rodriguez (Cape coral, 2022-03-17)

#99

We need to encourage wild life, not destroy it!

Cynthia Debrunner (Cape Coral , 2022-03-17)

#101

It is ridiculous to fill in a canal and displace wildlife to build a useless carwash. The city of Cape Coral has to re-think this one.

Michael Moore-Kelly (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#102

A car wash is not a good reason to fill in a canal. What is the city thinking!! What about environmental impact??

Donna Jaracz (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#103

I never want to see our canals being filled in.

Kathy Mcgrew (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#106

so sad just to build a carwash, there are a lot of those businesses already in the area, why build one where manatees & dophins come.

veronica rossiter (CAPE CORAL, 2022-03-17)

#107

Cape Coral should start thinking about its people, not a few dollars revenue here an here. Citizens always seem to end up with the dirty side of the stick.

Tom Dolan (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#111

I don’t want any waterway or green space destroyed by development in Cape Coral, FL, USA.

Michael Harris (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#112

Manatee’s have been mating and giving birth at the end of this canal for several years. We shouldn’t be destroying their habitat for another car wash!

Maggi Crouthamel (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#113

I support the neighbors of this sneaky building of a carwash that obviously is not necessary for the owners of property surrounding the community

Mark Lehman (Fort Myers, 2022-03-17)

#114

Wildlife is already severely impacted by humans. There is no need to engage in wildlife destruction so willingly. We all must be responsible to prevent unnecessary acts. There are more than enough businesses of this type. This is unnecessary at its highest level.

Shelley Murphy (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#115

You’re taking away the natural habitat of many animals who have resided there for multiple years. Cape Coral is known for its protection of wildlife. You’re also taking away the beauty of the homes on the canal not to mention the investment owners have made….and the value in their homes.

Nancy Baranowski-Smith (Cape Coral, 2022-03-17)

#119

We put our needs above our beautiful town’s environment. Don’t need another car wash. Poor city planning.

Kathryn Samman (Cape Ciral, 2022-03-18)

#121

I dont want to see the wildlife displaced and I feel it was unlawful to change yhe zoning

Denise Fortune (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#124

Area is too congested already.

Carol Chruniak (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#125

I'm signing this petition, because 1)the zoning was changed without the resident's knowledge, 2) the destruction of habitat for manatees and dolphins, and 3) the environmental impact of dangerous chemicals that could spill into the canal and the Calossahatchee River.

Linda Stubbs (Fort Myers, 2022-03-18)

#128

We definitely don't need another car wash! Mostly in a location that was zoned for a professional building only. Also, they want to fill the end of the canal which is a danger to the ecology, the river and the wildlife.

Gail Anderson (CAPE CORAL, 2022-03-18)

#129

These chemicals are harmful to our environment and wildlife!

Dawn Uncapher (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#130

We don't need another car wash. Storm water run off will be going into the canal. Tommy's is a Franchise car wash outfit. I contacted them and told them I will never go to their car wash. It is not a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I will continue to use Downtowner. I have seen their car wash building in other cities. Looks like a piece of crap

Nyla Deputy (CAPE CORAL, 2022-03-18)

#131

Don’t fill the canal!!!

Emileen Stevens (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#133

I care about the value of our canals and we do not need another car wash, especially at the expense of a part of a canal.

Sherry Sako (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#134

Filling in a canal for another car wash in Cape Coral is unacceptable.

The mayor said he wanted (at the public meeting last week) Cape Coral to have smart growth, not just growth for the sake of growth. This is where he and all of council can support the tax payers' wishes and demonstrate that his comments are sincere.

Catherine Geraats (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#138

At some point the environment has to be given priority over the $$$$. There are many carwashes in town, and many other locations in town to build one. If it was being built on land that was home to turtles or owls the city would be against it. Please save the environment, every little bit helps

Brian Myers (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#145

This is ridiculous, we have plenty of car washes and more land to build them if someone feels it's absolutely necessary. Why disrupt the canal, it's wildlife and the neighbors, it's absurd.

Kim Pollock (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#147

The canal should not be filled in to accommodate the car wash.

Rich McFeaters (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#149

A canal shouldn’t be filled in for a damn car wash.

Rick Macieko (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#150

I am opposed to filling in a canal for a commercial business that could possibly cause ecological damage.

Margaret Ridge (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#151

I love & respect wildlife, & clean waterways.

Jade Scalero (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#152

Don’t fill in the canal for a car wash.

Art Ludwig (Cape coral, 2022-03-18)

#156

We have enough car washes available in the Cape and do not need another if it means destroying the environment and animals around it.
This will not only hurt the water, animals, water creatures but also the homes nearby.
This is absolutely not necessary and I stand against it.

Laurie Glanz (Cape Coral , 2022-03-18)

#157

The impact to the wildlife in this canal would be devastating, not to mention the negative impact to a residential area. Stop this travesty.

Elizabeth A Randall (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#158

There is plenty of land to build a car wash in Cape Coral and no need to fill in a canal that harbors wildlife.

Kathleen Vandenberg (Cape Coral , 2022-03-18)

#159

protection of wildlife

Steven Morrison (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#163

Protection of our waterways and wildlife is crucial.

Melody Van Horn (North Fort Myers, 2022-03-18)

#167

I live close by on Southeast 29th Street and I'm on a canal and we do have a lot of manatees and wildlife only one block away. Plus the noise from these big car washes is horrendous.

Jill Ott (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#170

I believe there are enough car washes in Cape Coral and I prefer waterways.

Donna Childs (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#172

I am signing because I believe the canal should be left alone. There is no reason the car wash HAS to go in this particular area. There are TONS of empty lots in Cape Coral. Just look around. Leave the wildlife alone, they have done nothing to you to mess with their habitat. If you MUST put in a NEW car wash in Cape Coral, find a new location! Also, no one who lives on this canal wants to be near or have to deal with any construction. There is already WAY too much going on in Cape Coral.

Ashley White (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#174

I cannot possibly in good conscious support yet another in!ended car wash over the health and welfare of Florida wildlife. This ought to be considered a crime.

Sandra Seyfarth-Lechner (Cape Coral, 2022-03-18)

#178

I'm concerned coral coral is putting growth ahead of conservativation.

Phyliss Williams (Cape coral, 2022-03-19)

#179

Please don't fill the canal, wildlife is already at risk from chemicals, lack of grasses under the water.

Mira Shanks (Cape Coral, 2022-03-19)

#181

We need to do everything we can to protect our waterways and the animals that live in it. It’s our responsibility to do that! Stop ruining this planet with destructive behavior. We don’t need another car wash!!! Wake up!!!

Corrinne Sibug (Cape Coral , 2022-03-19)

#184

This is unnecessary, we already have plenty of car washes and if they want to build choose another site. The manatees and other wildlife can't move.

Debra Gould (Cape Coral, 2022-03-19)

#185

Indo not wish to start the pattern of changing zoning that affects existing homesites and fills in canals.

Larry Steele (Cape Coral, 2022-03-19)

#187

I don’t want the car wash Specially because it’s bad for the environment

Lucille Drew (Cape Coral , 2022-03-19)

#188

We do not need another car wash and filling in the canal to build one is very harmful to our precious wildlife.

Kathleen Leahy (CAPE CORAL, 2022-03-19)

#189

Our Cape Coral canals are priceless!

Laura Mclogan (Cape Coral, 2022-03-19)

#190

I’m signing because the sanctity of the canal value outweighs another car wash.

In other words, the canal is necessary while a car wash business is not.

Richard Rains (Cape Coral, 2022-03-19)

#191

It is absurd to even consider filling in one of our channels! There is so much land available in our area, and way to many car washes! But, I don’t object solely because of car wash- I would object if nothing was even being built there!

Sandra Dolgas (Cape Coral, FL, 2022-03-19)

#192

Why would we think it acceptable to fill in ANY portion of ANY canal. Totally ridiculous.

Robin Rollinger (Cape Coral, 2022-03-19)

#194

Safe the environment!

Len Wen (Cape Coral, 2022-03-19)

#195

Too much of Cape Coral’s beauty is being taken away by unnecessary building!! We have enough car wash locations

Jo-Dee Shields (Cape Coral, 2022-03-19)

#196

Businesses are ruining our environment.

Brian Curtis (Cape Coral, 2022-03-19)

#197

We have enough car washes and the waterways and sealife need to be preserved

Enid Mercado (Cape Coral , 2022-03-19)

#200
