Whenever the city negotiated our contracts , they had actuary’s take into consideration the future costs of our medical coverage and combined it into our raises
How can the city now violate the contracts they agreed with over the past years.
The city should should change the future retirements plan. This way it gives the employee a opportunity to plan their retirement expenses
The current retirees have an undue expense that was not planned when we retired
That’s not fair !

William Surace (Fresh Meadows, 2022-03-14)

Retired over 20 years and should not be forced into a new medical plan.

I’m signing because I believe what the city is trying to do on the back of retirees is very unfair and it is wrong to target such a vulnerable group.

Barbara E Tunney (Mineola, 2022-03-14)

#1432

I'm signing because I believe it is dishonorable for the City to strip aged and infirm retirees of their traditional Medicare and push them into a clearly inferior Medicare Advantage plan. Mayor Adams, please reconsider appealing the judge's decision!

During my 26 years with the City of NY, we had numerous contract negotiations and health benefits were always a primary concern and we told and assured that our benefit package was secure.
During the years that we received 0 percent raises we sacrificed and struggled for those benefits and to have our unions without us knowing give up our benefits is unconscionable.

I’m a retired NYC Corrections Officer and my insurance is very important to me and my family. As a disabled retired officer I don’t want to be in the MAP plan. I would not get any care from my Drs. I have now as they do not participate. Also, with health issues that many retirees have we need to stay with the plans we have. It is not only beneficial, but for health reasons better. We wouldn’t have to find new providers. Not fair to us financially or health wise. Do not appeal

#1472

Dear Mayor Adams, Please do not appeal Judge Frank's decision dated March 3, 2022. Sit with retirees to understand the shortcomings of the NYC Medicare Advantage Plus Plan as proposed and to craft a better program that will not diminish our healthcare. This includes continuing to give retirees a choice of plans that address diverse, individual medical circumstances, such as retaining traditional Medicare-plus-supplemental coverage options. Together, we can find ways to help save the City money. We also ask that you impose strict parameters on how the Health Insurance Stabilization Fund and Retiree Health Benefit Trust can be used.

I don’t want to pay a penalty for keeping my current health insurance. I do not want to have Medicare Advantage which is run by a for profit company that makes its profit by trying to deny coverage as much as they can get away with. Kenneth Vogel (Stewart Manor , 2022-03-14)

#1488

The city needs to follow their promise to ALL NYC retirees to co to use their health benefits as promised in our contracts. I only make 1,200 in retirement every and it would be an extreme financial hardship for me to may $191.00 extra a month to maintain my current health benefits. Please do not appeal the judge’s decision.

Denise Kennedy Warwick (Cairo, 2022-03-14)

#1489

I'm signing this petition because I was promised these health benefits when I took my job. A job that required a bachelor's, a master's, and an additional 30 credits above that for a salary that was not comparable with those with the same qualifications in the business world. I did this for the benefits.

I’m signing because putting us into an inferior health plan after we worked for decades is unfair. We were promised OUR health plan for life not just any health plan. There are seniors that still don’t know this is happening. Stop the appeal!

I am signing because given our medical issues and geographic location my husband and I must remain with GHI Senior Care. Relying completely on Social Security and minimal pension it would be extremely difficult for us to afford the approximately $5,000 it would cost us to continue with GHO Senior Care but it would have to be done.

I will be adversely affected by being forced onto an inferior health plan, which was not what I’ve expected and paid for my entire career with NYC. I’ve never been a union member and shouldn’t have to pay for union raises with my health care. NYC should find another way to finance union benefits that’s not off the backs of retirees.

Mayor Adams,
I am deeply disappointed in your decision to move NYC retirees into a MAP. My retired NYPD husband recently died from 911 lung disease. When he died I lost his social security, pension and health benefits. I am a retired HHC nurse administrator who never had the benefit of a union. If I had, perhaps I would have received some form of compensation for the daily mandatory overtime during my 45 years serving NYC. I served with the expectation of maintaining the healthcare I was promised on retirement. Yet you and unions who never represented me to bargain for my future.
Now in my not so golden years when I need health insurance the most I have to choose between a privatized for profit insurance which is not accepted by my providers or to pay $194 a month plus new co-pays just to keep what I have now for free while living on a reduced fixed income in a time of rising inflation and a skyrocketing cost of living. It is unconscionable to force NYC retirees into an inferior healthcare plan that requires prior authorization for almost all medical care and tests. This sir amounts to elder abuse!

Robin Haag (Brooklyn, 2022-03-14)

Vincent Sisto (new york, 2022-03-14)

#1598

I have dedicated 30 years of my life to NYC 's children and deserve what was promised without any changes. This isn't Russia so don't treat us as oppressed citizens living in a communist/ dictator country the way Putin does to his citizens every day.

I'm signing because City Retirees, who this directly affects now and in the future, have worked very hard and have dedicated many years to the city- in often socially & economically difficult times. We worked on the ground with the people, by the people, & for the people. We stayed when so many others abandoned the children and this city.
We all deserve what we were promised and this current proposed plan is not what was promised. We deserve a (free) option/choice without penalty.
If you want to save, then make that part of your negotiations w/current city employees, and save money for the city there in their current health plans, where they have a choice as of now and are not obligated into something they don't want.
