I'm signing because this is terrible idea. It will ruin the nice, quiet neighborhoods that surround the area. Progress for progress sake is usually not a good thing.

Alyssa Dalsing (Peosta, 2022-04-08)

#5

I have many concerns about this zoning request.

Deb McDonough (Peosta, 2022-04-08)

#12

I’m signing because I don’t agree with changing the zoning for the property from A1 to M2

Michael Vorwald (Peosta , 2022-04-09)

#14

I don’t feel that that location is an appropriate location for a quarry, nor has it ever been.

Angie Merten (Peosta , 2022-04-09)

#18

I believe this re-zoning would have negative impact to the neighbor’s property of this area and roadways surrounding the area. Already neighbors to this quarry have complained of the blasting and restrictions and notifications have gone out to neighbors when blasting occurred. This practice of-blasting becomes a further concern to home owners. I would think that the railway would be concerned with the-blasting and stability of the rails as well. Let’s not decrease the value of anyone’s property by decisions made. This is your town as well.

Mavonne Gansen (Peosta, Ia, 2022-04-09)

#23

This will impact home structures and value in a negative way.

Dan Wendler (Peosta, 2022-04-09)

#26

Concerns that heavy blasting may damage my home foundation and geo thermal lines.

Russ Otting (Peosta , 2022-04-09)

#29

My house shakes and I’m worried about it causing damage.

Kari Lenstra (Peosta, 2022-04-09)

#32

Not healthy for my neighborhood or town

Mike crenshaw (Peosta, 2022-04-09)

#33

It does not belong in our community.

Sue Crenshaw (Peosta, 2022-04-09)

#34

I live in Peosta within a few miles of this property and do not want blasting, smoke or heavy machinery noise when I'm outside. I also support the farm across the road, no blasting near those sweet animals

Lynn Waelchli (Peosta , 2022-04-09)

#36

We stand to lose so much. The noise and shaking is just one part but I’m concerned for the safety and well-being of my family and our animals. The dust is intolerable at times and I’m afraid if this gets approved, we will be dealing with even more. More noise, more dust, more traffic, more disruption and a wasteland for our view. We were here before the quarry. I am a real estate agent and I know what a quarry will do to our wonderful town and our property values. We have worked hard to improve our property and grow our farm. None of this is good for us.

Peg Harbaugh (Peosta, 2022-04-09)

#42

I live on CoxSprings rd. And my wife works from home and has never been notified when the blasting is gonna happen!! Also the equipment is heavy and crushing our new road and culverts!! Just come and take a look at the one just installed at my driveway!! Right after it was down semi loads were hauled out one after another….

Rick Stumpf (Peosta , 2022-04-10)

#47

I’m concerned about the blasts affecting out Kelly oaks neighborhood. The risk of foundation damage, and also the location being so close to our homes. I am also concerned about the children crossing cox springs road to get yo Burds acres and ThunderHills/Ridge. Cox springs Road seems to be busy. Additional large equipment would be a greater risk of accidents and injuries!

Tracie Pettera (Peosta , 2022-04-10)

#48

I'm concerned about the negative impacts to the community, housing values, traffic and our communities future.

Jason Schuster (Peosta, 2022-04-10)

#51

The potential risks FAR outweigh any benefits to the community and homeowners of Peosta.

Sarah Till (Peosta, 2022-04-10)

#61

I’m concerned that the continued blasting may damage my property and my well.
I’m also concerned about the damage being done to Cox Springs Road from the heavy truck traffic.

Tim Harbaugh (Peosta, 2022-04-11)

#63

This was supposed to be a temporary privately owned personal use quarry. Stop trying to sneak things through

Kathy Orr (Peosta , 2022-04-11)

#68

I do not support this rezoning. I am concerned about the possible negative impact(s) the rezoning could have on nearby property values and quality of life.

Jason Knipper (Peosta, 2022-04-11)

#86

I’m signing this because re-zoning this land would disturb the peacefulness that exists there now and in the future. The noise and pollution alone would have a negative effect on the environment. It would drive down property values and be stressful for the family and their animals at Cox Springs Farm and potentially harm the waterway. And why would you want to build on a flood zone?

Jan McAuliffe (Dubuque, 2022-04-12)

#88

I am signing this because I would like this property to stay zoned Agricultural A-1

Adam Bush (Peosta, 2022-04-12)

#92

Concerned about how stuff slides thru depending on who you are.

Shannon Clark (Peosta, 2022-04-12)

#97

Doesn’t appear to be a good idea for safety, home values, and future growth in Peosta.

Zach Little (Peosta, 2022-04-12)

#104

I’m signing this petition because I am against rezoning this quarry. If it was to be a privately owned personal use quarry, then it appears it’s being misused.
Anyone that is affected by this has lost so much already.
Studies show that quarries decrease property values. Most within the immediate vicinity but will be felt several miles away. Homes within a quarter mile will drop by about 30%. A mile away, the value of homes will decrease by about 13%. Homes as far as 3 miles away can expect about a 6% drop in value.

Would you want to pay current real estate prices for the Harbaugh property just across the road from the quarry? Probably not. Would they even be able to sell it at this point?
Quarries remove virtually all vegetation, topsoil and subsoil. They remove any natural habitat, disrupt pre-existing water flows and this all changes the slope of the land. The heavy truck traffic up Cox Springs Road and thru Centralia, to and from the quarry is a serious hazard, nuisance, and significant source of air pollution. It’s so noisy and dusty… noise pollution, smog precursors, greenhouse gases.

Lori Stumpf (Peosta, 2022-04-12)

I feel as though this should be far away from all residences and potential growth areas of Peosta. To me, you have one of the fastest growing areas and you're on fire with great businesses building. Why throw water on the fire, or on this case, building a smelly, loud, eye sore so close to your growth?

Tim Loeffelholz (Dubuque, 2022-04-12)

#108

I am opposed to this decision!

Kim Loeffelholz (Dubuque, 2022-04-12)

#110

I do not agree with the blasting going on near our property, and do not agree to rezone this area.

Randy Thole (Peosta, 2022-04-13)

#112

Not a benefit to the community and industrial zones already available

Jamie Schuster (Peosta, 2022-04-13)

#122

I do not support this idea

Maria Morrison (Farley , 2022-04-13)

#123

We will become a place where no one wants to live soon

Bill Otting (Peosta, 2022-04-13)

#125

Peg and her family have welcomed us to their farm to meet their many furry friends, and Peg has become a friend. She and her family treat every animal like a valued family member, welcoming anone who's interested and kind to animals to love and learn about their furry friends. Peg took the time to teach us about the goats, and obviously loves what she's doing.
Re-zoning the property would cause disruption to Peg's family and the animals in a multitude of ways. From noise to potential contamination of the natural water way that travels through the property.
The operations that have already occurred are legally questionable already, and further disruption of the land and the human and animal residents is also immoral in my opinion.
I'm signing to help Peg preserve the little piece of natural sanctuary they've built, nurtured, and utilized to educate visitors and share their love of animals with others.

McAuliffe Amy (Dubuque, 2022-04-14)

#127

It's not right. Cox Springs farm has worked hard and your plans threaten the lively hood of the farm.

Mary LYNN (Dubuque, 2022-04-14)

#129

I love our peaceful community. I don’t want the noise from blasting or potential damage to our beautiful homes.

Jen Kapler (Peosta, 2022-04-14)

#132

This should not be allowed at all.

Steve Delaney (Peosta, 2022-04-15)

#147

do not ruin this countryside with any type of industrial use!

Sara McAuliffe (Peosta, 2022-04-20)

#149

Not safe for animals at Cox Springs farm
