Queanbeyan south is such an amazing school. Wonderful teachers and principal. If the school loses funding this will impact our children's amazing education that is currently at south. Please support the change of queanbeyan school zones to make it fair for all schools so no school loses its funding, it's teachers, principal and the kids education. Support our kids.

We are a current family attending QSPS who are concerned about the impacts of rezoning on our local school.

Every child deserve a good education & Qbn south does just this. Having funding and teaching staff reduced won’t help support the vulnerable families in our area or children that require more learning support needs

I am signing this petition because the NSW Department of Education made the correct decision in the zoning plans. Nicole Overall has involved herself in a local matter that she has no business in overturning. As a result of this overturning decision it will have negative impact on the Queanbeyan South Public Schools ability to keep providing opportunity classes and mix category class. This will result in a negative impact on students. The decision to overturn the NSW DET decision undermines our local major and his ability to shape our community. The zoning should be reversed and remain as the original zoning provided by NSW DET.
I am happy to discuss this matter further in person or on a call.
Kind Regards,
Michael Darman - 0412 608 855

We need to protect our school. Queanbeyan South is by far in my opinion the best school in our region. The staff are amazing and the principal especially.

My son attends this school and requires extra support. Without the extra support this would possibly affect my son greatly.

The kids of Queanbeyan south should not suffer because of the reclassification of the school. The loss of funding, teachers, resources, and classification is something that shouldn't happen.

My son is already behind with some learning issues. We aren’t well off enough to be able to afford homes in Jerra or Googong despite both working full time and my son needs all the support he can get from the school. We don’t have any options to go elsewhere.

As a student who was a new immigrant, Queanbeyan South was able to special cater for my needs. I could not read and there was assistance to give me intensive help. I am now a PhD. Without the care of the staff and teachers at the school, I would have fallen behind, most likely indefinitely. If these changes were to occur, the teachers would not be provided with the ability to help others the same. Free education should be equitable education.

All children should have the right to an education in an appropriately funded school. All schools should be consulted by DOE not local politicians!

Queanbeyan South Primary School is my local primary school. While my children are in high school, Karabar High School, this zoning issue will ultimately also effect the high school and it's ability to provide the best possible education.

The Hon Sarah Mitchell
NSW Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning

Dear Minister Mitchell

I'm signing this petition because of the rezoning proposal of some of the students from Queanbeyan South Public school to Queanbeyan other schools.
I am vehemently against the proposal.

The proposed rezoning will affect the students and teachers adversely and will certainly disrupt the excellent relationship built by the teachers and students at Queanbeyan South.

In my case, I have two grandchildren, and noted that the teachers have been excellent in providing Early Childhood Learning. I also noted that the students at the primary school have built great relationships with their teachers, for example the Principal of Queanbeyan South greets the children when they first arrive at school.
The effect of the proposal will be that many students' education will suffer, and a generation of Queanbeyan South Primary children will have a disrupted and low-quality education.

Surely, the NSW Government's objective is to provide a high-quality education without the disruption of rezoning.

Dear Minister Mitchell, I urge you to reconsider this rezoning proposal.

Nicolas Dell'Aquila (Queanbeyan, 2022-05-15)

Zoning decisions should be made in close consultation with the schools, communities, and families affected, and the greater good / wider community interests should be considered when drawing boundaries on a map. QSPS has been a place of inclusion and opportunities for all, an exemplary public school, and should always stay that way, funded, zoned, and resourced accordingly. Torpedoing great things in this area will not lead to great outcomes for the wider community.

Gabriella Szakonyi (Crestwood, 2022-05-20)

My child is at the school and will be negatively affected by the zoning

Suzanne Aubrey (Karabar, 2022-05-21)

This school has been brilliant with our 2. It would be a shame to loose their ability to support students and loose numbers. I understand some concern in Jerra for students in walking distance but otherwise think the new zoning appropriate.

Lucy Shanny (Burra, 2022-05-23)

Although my children will attend Googong Public next year, it was not an easy decision to make. South has given them a supportive, diverse and caring introduction to their schooling life with quality teachers, programs and opportunities. These quality services need to be continued so ALL children regardless of background, socio-economic status and street address get the same opportunity. This won't happen if zoning impacts the funding available to the school.

Peta Harding (Googong, 2022-05-23)

#116

Queanbeyan South Primary School should not be forced to suffer budget cuts and staff lay offs due to poor zoning plans.

I'm signing because this is my old primary school and I currently have a nephew there. It's a great school and very involved with community, it deserves fair and equal zoning at the very least.

I’m signing this petition because access to quality education should be universal. School zoning is an important way to ensure equitable access to appropriately resourced education and this recent decision will disadvantage children who may already be at a disadvantage.

Sarah Gowty (Canberra, 2022-06-04)

This would severely impact the children of my family that live in queanbeyan sth and attend the current school. I completely oppose this restructuring that would upset the daily lives of children and residents and interupt their learning.
