I am also a student who is currently going to law school. The law should be the same for everyone and the people of Sri Lanka have the right to write the laws of Sri Lanka in Sinhala, the Sri Lankan language. Therefore, giving the common rights of law students and students in Sri Lanka and giving this opportunity to children who suffer from English language deficiency. It cannot be allowed not to be received. Therefore, I express my unanimous wish to prevent this. Thank you.

This is a very unfair decision. Because Chapter 4 of our Constitution of 1978 affirms that every citizen can pursue education in the official languages Sinhala and Tamil. Despite this, I strongly emphasize that such gazettes, which are limited to a certain class, should be withdrawn immediately.

I am a graduated teacher of English. I have done a Bilingual Languagen Degree major in English, and Minor in Sinhala. I have also done my Master in teaching English as a Second Language. There, I have studied on Language Policy Planning for my research on on Linguistic Landscape at Dickwella Division. In my research I have investigated the negative results of discrepancy of a language. When a language is neglected to be used specially in educational institutes, the speech community of that language is discouraged to use it. Consequently, it may be less used or absent in some spheres first , and then lost forever. That is because the community may think that such a neglected language is no longer accepted or used in society.
Sinhala is our mother tongue. Therefore, I cannot let my mother tongue to be lost in future because the government is going to start school education in English medium from grade 1, and if all the educational institutes do so, we will not be able to use our mother tongue properly. It does not matter to use it in school education and in some degree courses such as Medicine and Engineering. But for legal students it is of vital necessity to know their mother tongue well to deal with the cases.
