Ask the West Nodaway R-1 Board of Education to grant Camryn Brady's appeals to remain in the A+ Program and go on senior trip.

It is absolutely ridiculous she should miss out on this. I had health struggles in high school (one being diagnosed diabetic) that caused me to miss school often. If the people in my school did this to me I would be livid. These people should be supporting what sounds like an exceptional student. They should want this student to reflect well on them as a school. Instead they are dragging this girl down and making a hard few years for her worse. I’m sure she’s worked hard for many years and to be “rewarded” with this is unacceptable. I don’t know her personally, but I stand with her and fully support her on her journey to stand up and advocate for herself. This girl deserves better.

Erin Wendt (Wathena , 2023-01-20)

#208

Just because it unfair what they are doing

Justin Hansen (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#209

Even if I weren’t Cami’s aunt, I’d still be horrified that a school would treat students this way. No one should be punished for absences beyond their control when they took every required step to document them and continued to complete all their coursework despite them.

Alison Reasoner (Skidmore , 2023-01-20)

#213

What they are doing to this young lady is not right!

Sonja Stiens (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#217

I believe that when your an A+ student well, your an A+ student. It should be commended and not hindered for medical reasons. That’s just ridiculous. We teach our kids to be upstanding and to work hard in order to be successful. You have a young person making every effort to build her future and to gain ground for her successes and because of health matters, she fails because of missed days?
That seems absolutely ludicrous to me. Pretty harsh stance considering her track record of achievements. Finally, if you look at those achievements that prove dedication to her future, I highly doubt that she would purposely risk losing rewards for a medical matter.

Monica Chambers (Bolckow, 2023-01-20)

#218

I believe that medical reasons should be excused absences

Amy Collingham (Council Bluffs, 2023-01-20)

#221

I feel the school board is. Wrong. In their decision. I m hoping they will. Realize the situation was out of her control-------

Lola Kelmel (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#224

I fully believe Camryn Brady has fulfilled all the set requirements to maintain her eligibility in the A+ program and also allow her to go on her Senior Trip.

Heather Quaas (Shawnee, 2023-01-20)

#225

The energy used to hold this student back, would be better utilized supporting students go forward.

Rolland Martin (Pickering, 2023-01-20)

#226

I too have experienced a schools administration treat a student and situation unfairly.

Amber Volner (Hopkins, 2023-01-20)

#228

I'm signing because none of this appears to be her fault or intentional misses yet she is being punished for it. Throughout all her trials and tribulations she has conducted herself with maturity, grace and motivation.

Rhonda Wiederholt (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#229

I'm signing because this student should be rewarded for her efforts during her long fight with this pain, not punished. All medical reasons should be excused. FMLA is legally followed when you're an adult by your employer. Why, when a child is struggling, would you choose to punish? Especially looking at all the outstanding things she has kept up with during all the issues she's been dealing with.

Alex Meyers (Clarinda, 2023-01-20)

#230

Absolutely no reason this students absences should not be excused. Shame on the administration.

Amanda Herzberg (Bedford, 2023-01-20)

#234

The school should do the right thing. She’s just a kid!

Paige Romine (Hiawatha, 2023-01-20)

#235

Schools need to recognize hospital stays and chronic illness as not the students fault

Ruby Moellenberndt (Grant City, 2023-01-20)

#241

Signing because it is the right thing to do ! One question always comes to me on issues like this what if that was your child , grandchild, etc. How would you feel seeing them being punished for something out of her or his control .

Danelle Fox (Burlington Junction, 2023-01-20)

#243

This a student who has shown she is a good student and has participated as much as she can. She should not be punished for things she can’t control. Health reasons should always be an exception.

Lisa Angle (Stanberry, 2023-01-20)

#246

This was shared with me and I'm adding my signature to this petition as I went to school in Bethany, Mo and almost lost my A+ as a senior due to my dad dying of cancer my senior year of high school. South Harrison accepted my appeal for attendance and I graduated with my A+. I'm also the mother to a child with complex medical issues that misses school frequently for doctors appointments. No child should be excluded due to illness or injury.

Amy Dickemper (Crystal City, 2023-01-20)

#247

Schools policies need to have exceptions! No one deserves to be treated this way. Please support this young lady instead of punishing her for things she CANT control!

Kristin Rucker (Hopkins , 2023-01-20)

#252

It was not her fault for why she missed school and had doctor notes for every time

Anthony Christian (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#253

Do what is best for kids!! Cami has worked hard and should not be punished due to an illness.

Beth Wonderly (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#254

I believe this is in violation of ADA’s laws and people should not be punished for medical needs.

Lori Mardis (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#256

It’s unfair to punish her for things out of her control

Sarah Wray (Hopkins, 2023-01-20)

She deserves it

Meagan Luck (Lees Summit , 2023-01-20)

The school should not be punishing her for issues beyond her control.

#259

This injustice must be overturned.

Stephanie Bush (De Kalb, 2023-01-20)

#260

Don’t hold bad health against her.

Vera Hayman (Farmington, 2023-01-20)

#261

According to what I read, I feel this student should not be punished because of medical conditions beyond her control. She deserves to attend her class trip!

Tafra Perryman (Saint Louis, 2023-01-20)

#262

This girl cannot control her health issues, therefore she should not have everything she’s worked hard for taken away from her! This child has been through enough and should not miss out on her last moments of being a kid

Rachael Wilmes (Forest city , 2023-01-20)

#264

Seems she’s lost a lot of the HS experience, why take another thing away from her?

Amie Hannah (Saint Louis, 2023-01-20)

#266

If Camryn has maintained her grades through everything and is also outstanding in many other activities during and after everything has been through she definitely deserves to stay in the A+ program and go on her Senior trip!

Megan Sample (King City, 2023-01-20)

#267

This girl has gone through so much and still excelled in school. She should be rewarded not disciplined. This an once in a life time activity to be included with her classmates on their senior. What good does this for anyone if she's denied the trip?

Linda Schafer (Barnard, 2023-01-20)

#270

She’s worked hard and deserves this

Savannah Geddings (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#271

This young lady has without a doubt worked hard to keep her grades up during a terrible situation. She deserves the chance.

Greg Hartman (Newton, 2023-01-20)

#272

WN should have some compassion. This girl is hardworking & driven & this is not fair to her for having medical conditions she has 0 control over. Kids are only kids once - let her enjoy what she has rightfully earned.

Jessica Hutchison (Elmo, 2023-01-20)

#276

In 48 years as an educator, this is one of the saddest situations I have heard of. Schools Board members & Administrators know this is a special circumstance - do the right thing! For every “rule” that schools make, there can be an exception! Wish I were a lawyer, I would take this case on!

Trudy Kinman (Ravenwood, 2023-01-20)

#277

I’m signing because those surgeries were not in her control.

Moriah Burton (Mercer, 2023-01-20)

#278

It's the right thing to do. I stand behind Brandy and her family.

Adrianna Bennett (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#279

There is no reason to punish a very successful student for things out of her control. Compassion should be shown and this petition should not have been necessary.

Jessica Wilmes (Maryville mo , 2023-01-20)

#284

I’m signing because I believe that Camryn should not be punished due to unseen health circumstances. A senior year only comes once and she is more than deserving to participate in these events and programs.

Kaylee Neumann (St. Joseph , 2023-01-20)

#285

I am a mother of children who have been in advanced studies classes, have A+,on the honor role etc. I have also had one of them have absent days due to severe illness. This young lady should NOT be punished because she had to have surgery. I think she should be recognized for her ability to maintain her A average. The school trip is a major fun filled educational and will produce wonderful future memories. This is cruel and unjust. Please make an exception in this case.

Pamla Ivie (Dayton, 2023-01-20)

#289

This child appears to be an upstanding student who has suffered terrible circumstances that have been beyond her control. If she was lazy or making Fs or skipping school that would be one thing, but these all seem to legitimate absences. Just Because admin changes the promises shouldn’t

Cara Davis (Rock port, 2023-01-20)

#290

She deserves to be in the program and go on her senior trip along with her class just because she had to miss school due to medical reasons doesn’t mean she has to be punished because of her attendance she was excused by doctor so let her participate and go!

Elizabeth Hernandez (Odessa, 2023-01-20)

#291

She should not be punished for such health issues that are beyond her control

Brittany Drummond (Pickering, 2023-01-20)

#296

I believe Camryn is being treated unfairly. Please reconsider.

Katherine Porter (Greenfield, 2023-01-20)

#298

I support this petition to ask for fairness, compassion and simply doing the right thing for Camryn Brady.

Brenda Grose (Mount Ayr, 2023-01-20)

#300

When illness is involved, the circumstances should be individually evaluated. These are valid reasons for medical attention and you are punishing her for her issues. Your decisions need to be reevaluated and your policies amended. You are revoking her rights and endangering health. Her treatment was medical necessities. If I were her parents , I would file suit.

Lynne Nelson (Barnard, 2023-01-20)

#302

I’m signing because she is an above average student who shouldn’t be mistreated for health issues out of her control!

Kyleigh McCrary (Skidmore, 2023-01-20)

#303

It’s the right thing to do to let this young woman participate, especially considering the odds she went up against in catching up with her schoolwork!!! Don’t strip her of this right because of a piece of paper.

Tony Muccigrosso (Saint Louis, 2023-01-20)

#304

Students shouldn’t be punished for health issues! This is unfair

Dakota Potts (Kansas City , 2023-01-20)

#309

I feel this girl is being punished for medical conditions beyond her control. She maintained her academic standing and school activity participation even though she missed school for medical reasons. Allow her to keep her A+ status and participate in her senior activities.

Amanda Smith (Bolckow, 2023-01-20)

#310

I truly feel she should not be punished for things she can not control like her health! She sounds to be very successful and deserves the best.

Cheyenne Troutwine (Grant City , 2023-01-20)

#311

She’s a dedicated student. She works hard and shouldn’t be punished due to surgeries out of her control. Let her school accomplishments dictate what kind of student she is and has been throughout her stay at west nodaway.

Michael McElroy (Canyon Lake, 2023-01-20)

#313

The girl should not be punished due to absences resulting from necessary surgeries.
She has worked hard and appears to have met/exceeded all the requirements to remain in A+ program and go on the class trip (despite the absences).
To keep her from either of the above would be punishing her for something beyond her control.

Lois Totten (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#317

She has been through so much and has maintained her grades. She deserves to go! She is a true fighter!

Heather Rauch (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#318

Any absence as a result of a surgery or that has a doctors note should be an excused absence. Period! This girl deserves both the A+ attendance hours and her senior trip. She’s endured enough!

Stacy Wood (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#319

Everyone should be able to experience their last years in school and with their class

Doren Wells (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#320

What the administration and BOE of West Nodaway R-1 is doing is unconscionable. Shame on them all! Their decisions to not allow Camryn to attend her senior trip or participate in and complete her A+ Scholarship Program is ridiculous and unwarranted. Camryn is a stellar student and the epitome of resilience. Instead of being punished for health related absences that were/are out of her control, and denied her senior trip and A+ Scholarship, she should be heralded as a true example of what a successful student is; a student who would not be denied the opportunity to learn and thrive despite the enormous health obstacles and barriers she has faced.

I implore this Board to right their wrongs, admit they got this wrong and made an egregious error and allow Camryn Brady to participate fully in her senior class trip and complete the A+ Scholarship program. She has more than earned the right…she DESERVES them, along with an apology to her, her parents (who are true champions of public education) and also to the community they were elected to serve.

Kenna Johnson (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#323

Es justo que pueda continuar en el programa A+

José Antonio Díaz García (Los Campos, Corvera de Asturias, 2023-01-20)

#326

This girl has worked extremely hard through unforseen circumstances which is not something a lot of people can do. To be able to maintain good character, good grades, and participate in extracirricular activities while in excruciating pain is only something an A+ Student can achieve. She deserves her A+ scholarships and deserves to go on the senior trip as much as anyone else does.

Faith Sill (Savannah, 2023-01-20)

#327

Camryn tiene derecho a ponerse enferma todas las veces que sea necesario, y nadie debería castigarla por ello. Ha sido una alumna brillante todos estos años, y eso no sirve para nada?

Carmen Rebollo (Barcelona , 2023-01-20)

#328

This is BS it’s a medical issue not an attendance issue

Eric Morriss (Stanberry, 2023-01-20)

#332

Camryn has shown nothing but excellence in her academic career. The job of educators is to help children grow, and prepare them for life beyond those academic walls. When Camryn enters college and eventually the workforce, surgeries and medical concerns are valid and protected reasons for being absent. To discipline someone so young, and so impressive, because of absence due to diagnosed medical concerns is negligent of your duty (at best) and a disgusting power play (at worst).

What does this action teach this girl, besides hard work means nothing to this district?

Kristen Bartles (Bolckow, 2023-01-20)

#334

This is messed up

Olivia Merriett (Trinidad, 2023-01-20)

#337

This young lady has been through enough in her short time on earth! Why punish her for things out of her control?! Let this young lady enjoy her final year, a senior!

Paula Johnston (Mt Ayr , 2023-01-20)

#338

I feel the school is doing her wrong

Barb Ratliff-Swinford (Tarkio, 2023-01-20)

#339

I'm young and have medical issues beyond my control and don't like when absences negatively impact your ability to properly function.

Ashley Bartles (Clarinda, 2023-01-20)

#341

She deserves to go on the senior trip. She’s met all other criteria and has documented excuses for the absences.

Catherine Gordon (Horton , 2023-01-20)

#344

It is the right thing to do to support this studen

MaKayla Cross (Hopkins, 2023-01-20)

#347

I agree that medical leave needs to be considered.

Heather OverKamp (St Peters, 2023-01-20)

#348

This is ridiculous. Let her finish her studies. The entire administration and school board should be ashamed and fired.

Timothy Westfall (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#349

I’m signing this because I believe she should have the right to be in the program(s) and trip. She couldn’t control having those cards dealt to her no more than she wanted to go through it.

Armstrong Kristy (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#354

We went through a whole year where schools taught from home. If she kept up to date on work and if she provided documents why are you punishing her? It was not her fault, she was not skipping school to have fun she had serious medical issues. She lost part of her ability to get pregnant so if and when she comes to that time she will have to be punished again. Not only by insurance companies and hospitals for fertility treatment, the emotional cost to her. So you want to take away something that she only gets to do once in her life. Making memories with friends she has lost out on. Also the finiancial help to continue to make her TO BE even more valuable adult by going to college. Some people would not have been able to go to college if it wasn't for the A+ program. Give her a chance. She has had a lot of chances taken from her already. Hasn't she suffered enough?

Ame Graham Ebrecht (Parnell, 2023-01-20)

#355

I feel this is an outstanding student and she deserves rewards not punishment!

Becky Ferris (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#358

I graduated from West Nodaway and I’m in utter shock they are not supporting their students. She had medical reasons and doctors notes and maintained her work, so why are we punishing her. She’s been through enough! Do better West Nodaway!

Sarah Kollitz (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#360

This is very wrong! She has worked very hard to achieve her goals through all she has had to deal with her health issues! And for the school to punish her is wrong.

Karen Bender (Mount Ayr, 2023-01-20)

#361

This injustice is so outrageous. I am absolutely gobsmacked that this school district would choose to punish a student who has no control over these things happening to her. Shame on them.

Shelby Kenney (Warrensburg, 2023-01-20)

#363

Tina Stiff (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#365

She followed the rules, so grant her rights.

Bev Myers (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#366

She had doctor notes which excuses her absences. She has obviously been through enough. Why punish her for something she had no control over.

Megan Partridge (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#367

This is not the way unavoidable absences should be handled. It seems toI me she is doing very well in keeping up even with the obstacles she has faced. Do better.

Greg Atkinson (Fordland, MO, 2023-01-20)

#368

It is not right to punish someone who has stayed involved in school while undergoing so many surgies and illness.

Melissa Eckert (Sheridan , 2023-01-20)

#369

The evidence speaks for itself. Do the right thing.

Paul Kaplan (Signal Mountain, 2023-01-20)

#372

She has maintained the grade point average to be there regardless. Should not be penalized for having a needed surgery for health reasons. Follow the book.

Dennis Henry (Marana, 2023-01-20)

#373

This girl has been thru enough. She met all requirements except for attendance.

Elizabeth Thiemann (Maryville , 2023-01-20)

#377

This child has been thru enough. She has academically done great. And she should not be punished.

Maurissa Johnson (Omaha, 2023-01-20)

#378

A child show be provided a chance to be rewarded for her hard work, and not judged on things beyond her control.

Nicky Comstock (Clearmont, 2023-01-20)

#382

This student was missing school for a medical reason and had documentation for the days missed. Show her a little compassion. S ok undsblike she has stayed on top of her studies and extracurricular activities.

Cheralee Pointer (Grant City, 2023-01-20)

#383

I am a teacher and I belive all students deserve the same opportunities and not be punished for health issues.

Michelle Robinson (Independence , 2023-01-20)

#384

As educators, we sometimes have to handle each situation differently. If her absence only align with surgeries and recoveries then why is this not being excused.

We need to remember the human factor in our jobs and act with compassion and understanding.

Monica Dutcher (Lawrence, 2023-01-20)

#385

Just because she was busy with doctor appointments and stuff like that shouldn’t dwell on her for waiting to learn and taking all this away from her! It’s unfair to those who work hard!

Hunter Bennett (Tarkio, 2023-01-20)

#386

I don’t think all circumstances have been looked at. Taking these things away not only places undue educational expenses on the family that could be taken care of with A+ money, but it shows a self-driven young woman that hard work and persistence doesn’t always pay off. We need to encourage our young adults, not knock them down for giving it their all!

Sarah Graham (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#387

Medical should be exempt.

Nathaniel Welch (Kansas City, 2023-01-20)

#392

If she has met all requirements then she should be allowed to do all the activities and honor programs.

Sandra Holley (Elk City, 2023-01-20)

#393

It is absurd to me that a child would be denied to a school program due to absences related directly to excused medical issues. AND especially considering how much effort she has put in to remain studious. Absolutely ABSURD.

Kim Meyer (Belleville, 2023-01-20)

#394

She is a victim of medical issues do not make her a victim of her school!
She has earned the right to be treated with respect.

Penny Auffert (Maryville, 2023-01-20)

#395

She deserves to be able to go on her senior trip she is a hard working young lady and a positive role model for the younger generation work hard for achievement and them get punished for it ridiculous!!!

Kimberly Doyle (Farragut, 2023-01-20)

#397

What they are doing to this student is wrong. She cannot control her illness requiring surgeries, prep, and recovery time. However, all of the things she could control such as her academics and participation while in school, show her determination, strength, and ability to overcome obstacles which all should be rewarded, not punished.

Dana Barton (Savannah, 2023-01-20)

#399

I too missed months of school as a child due to numerous surgeries after intense trauma, and to this day I am still thankful for the support that my teachers and classmates gave me during that difficult time.
