Petition to have Mark Lillywhite removed from office

Comments

#6

This is a blatantly light punishment for the crimes committed, and there is NO OTHER CASE, where this has been given as punishment for the same crimes, when committed by civilians... this is disturbing and disgusting, and he needs to be removed!

Julie Kerns (Sturgis, 2023-04-24)

#10

I want a sober sheriff and one that does not break the law

sabrina christman (three rivers, 2023-04-24)

#11

I believe this sheriff don't deserve this title any longer this is not ok with me for someone spending and crashing into another vehicle this sheriff could of kill some he also had a gun in his vehicle not cool this man should of spent time in jail for this

Brenda Boatman (Shipshewana , 2023-04-24)

#12

He has embarrassed St. Joseph County

David Hoeppner (Three Rivers, 2023-04-24)

#13

I no longer have faith in him to perform the duties as county sheriff.

Me Dunson (Three Rivers , 2023-04-24)

#15

He should not be in office after what he did!!!!!!!

Amy Decker (Sturgis, 2023-04-24)

#19

He committed heinous crimes while being a sheriff. One who needs to uphold the law not break it and we need a leader for our county.

Amber Barton (White Pigeon, 2023-04-24)

#22

He is a disgrace to our county!! He knows the law first hand. He has seen what others with higher power has done in past. This is not his first time, how about 3rd offense!! He lied to Law Enforcement as well as First Responders, making their job more difficult! He could have killed the family he hit, while he traveled 92mph with his lights OFF at 2am on a very busy, yet deadly highway!!! The fact he had not 1, but several guns in vehicle. The vehicle Our County give him as Sheriff. He took an Oath to never take his badge for granted?? And he absolutely did!! He is the 4th person in Our County within position in Office to break the law on drunk driving?? When is it going to stop?? He is a disgrace.

kelly walkup (Sturgis , 2023-04-24)

#23

I do not believe that somebody who broke so many laws should be in charge of deciding who should be charged with crimes when he himself broke so many laws and got away with it.

Cari Anglemyer (Three Rivers , 2023-04-24)

#25

This is what is wrong with this country. Rug sweeping, no accountability. This fool could have killed someone maybe one of your family members. It's time we as Americans take our country back from the political fool

Jim Bogucki (Burr Oak, 2023-04-24)

#26

I agree 1000 percent. He isn't fit to be sheriff. News hasn't reported it but I've talked to reporters today it will be in news tomorrow, his driver's license was suspended today too. Lied to police, driving co vehicle totaled at taxpayers expense. He is a disgrace and liability to the citizens.

Craig Klopenstine (Leonidas, 2023-04-24)

#28

He's guilty. Anyone else would be doing jail time. He should be removed from his job.

Cindy Spencer (Three Rivers, 2023-04-24)

#29

He is to be a role model to society, instead he's a drunken idiot who caused an accident and lied about his situation, not to mention he was in a government car with firearms, multiple. His sentence is no wear near what he should have gotten

Alisha Miller (Three Rivers , 2023-04-24)

#30

Obvious

Rachel Olson (Sturgis, 2023-04-24)

#34

He needs to lead by example.

Mike lowe (Three Rivers, 2023-04-24)

#35

He needs out

Kellie Tobias (WhitePigeon, 2023-04-24)

#37

The mother*****er needs to sit in jail just like I would or anyone else would that did what he did.

Troy Wilson (Three Rivers, 2023-04-24)

#38

He should be held accountable

Shirley Chamberlain (Three Rivers, 2023-04-24)

#40

It's unfair. He committed a crime & should be held to a higher standard.

Dominic Stacks (Three Rivers, 2023-04-24)

#41

His morals are not that of a sherrif

Roxann Mcleod Grochoske (Three Rivers, 2023-04-24)

#42

He is a terrible example of what law enforcement should represent. His case shows serious disregard for the safety of the citizens he swore to protect.

Chris Millar (Three Rivers , 2023-04-25)

#43

I believe that the country sheriff or any government official should be held to a higher standard than other citizens. Especially when if any other citizen would have committed the crimes Mark Lillywhite did we most certainly would not have skated off with 12m probation. He committed felony offenses and made officials look like a joke because they won’t do anything about it.

Reece Deneau (Three rivers , 2023-04-25)

#44

Any other person would of been in jail a year minimum

Jacob Buckley (St Joseph , 2023-04-25)

#49

He should no longer be in law enforcement in any capacity

Brian Jerome (Threerivers , 2023-04-25)

#55

His behavior and past violations have proven he’s not fit to be our Sheriff.

Angela Vrydaghs (Constantine , 2023-04-25)

#56

Anyone in his position should be upholding the laws and the oath that he swore to. Let's not forget about the fact that he could have killed someone that night.

Paige Parlin (Leonidas, 2023-04-25)

#60

Driving drunk is a crime, he broke the law and shouldn’t be allowed to have a position that upholds the law when he can’t do it himself.

Becky Arellano (Sturgis, 2023-04-25)

#61

I do not believe he was held to the same consequences as the average citizen because of his position. He knew better!

Tabatha Hayden (Sturgis, 2023-04-25)

#64

If that was anyone else they would be facing alot more and failing to take a breathalyzer is an automatic year suspension of your driver's license but he gets to get keep his that's wrong

Cheryl Harmon (Three rivers, 2023-04-25)

#67

I am a citizen and I am opposed against drunk driving

Pam Johnson (Three rivers, 2023-04-25)

#68

Remove him!!! He’s a disgrace!

Amber Craigo (White pigeon, 2023-04-25)

#71

We need someone else in this position while Mr Lilywhite gets help.

Karin J Davis (Sturgis, 2023-04-25)

#72

I don't believe we should have a drunk driving sheriff in office

Kaitlyn Forsyth (Sturgis , 2023-04-25)

#73

What he did was break the law and had a gun while drunk driving as well. He didn't get even half of what someone else would get. Not to mention he is suppose to be role model for everyone. He is far from that. He could of killed someone

Amy Bouwens (Edwardsburg, 2023-04-25)

#74

It's just plain wrong!!!
Drinking driving crashing!!!

Laurie Hendrickson (Elkhart, 2023-04-25)

#76

I'm signing because as a law enforcement officer and sheriff, Lilywhite needs to be held to a higher standard. It wasn't just a simple mistake, it's been a pattern of behavior that everyone is fully aware of. If he had any integrity at all, he would have resigned when it happened.

Elizabeth Dugan (Three Rivers , 2023-04-25)

#77

I feel Mr. Lillywhite does not represent the office of Sherrif well due to his arrest for DUI. He was not fully charged for all of the crimes he committed. He is an embarrassment to this county.

Pauline Wolf (Colon, 2023-04-25)

#78

If a regular citizen had committed this crime I believe that they would not of received this type of leancy as the Sherrif has. What irritates menthe most is he was in a county issued vehicle, armed and denying he was the driver. He could have stolen lives that day when he caused a car to leave the road rolling multiple times. He is suppose to serve and protect our county. How can we, as citizens trust that he has our best interests at heart? I know I can't!

Renee Merriam (STURGIS, 2023-04-25)

#79

I want justice.

EDWARD CHUPP (STURGIS, 2023-04-25)

#82

I'm a citizen of St. Joseph County and believe and believe we should all be held to the same standards.

Jillian Alderson (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#83

My cousin was killed by a drunk driver and I'll be damned if the sheriff is a drunk.

Melinda Miller (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#85

It's not right

Josh kerns (Sturgis , 2023-04-25)

#87

After the crimes he committed he should not be allowed to continue as sheriff

Catherine Yanke (Sturgis, 2023-04-25)

#88

He should be punished like any other person.

Nona Allen (Sturgis , 2023-04-25)

#90

He needs to be removed from being Sheriff for this!

Daniel Glazener (Vass, 2023-04-25)

#93

If any regular civilian had done this, they would suffer enormous consequences and it would effect them for the rest of their life. I think the same should apply to someone in his position and as far as this man representing our community I feel it's not acceptable to not hold him accountable for his actions.

Jason Marrison (Three Rivers , 2023-04-25)

#97

It’s necessary

Michele Esterline (Quincy, 2023-04-25)

#98

We need a sheriff who is not a criminal.

James Coker (Sturgis, 2023-04-25)

#99

Because he should have to pay for his actions like anyone else would!

Ashlee Hambright (Sturgis , 2023-04-25)

#100

No one is above the law!

Dana Bronson (Sturgis, 2023-04-25)

#101

If it was me I would have a felony. He should be held at a higher standard

Davita Alderson (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#102

Because if it was a literally any other human being, that wasn’t a part of our justice system, they would’ve been held completely accountable, held to the highest extent of everything, but no cool he’s a police officer let’s just put them on the back and scoot him on his way..

Alisha Hall (Constantine, 2023-04-25)

#103

He is in a position of authority in which the appearance of impropriety is inappropriate and worthy of discussion and dissemination.
He is the county sheriff, the highest law enforcement officer in this county.
He should know, better than everyone else, how to act.

JOSEPH ALDERSON (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#105

I don't think he should be allowed to keep his job due to the fact he was drunk driving with a loaded weapon

Wendy Peterson (Three rivers, 2023-04-25)

#106

Being a steward of the law doesnt put you above the law💯

Nicole combs (Sturgis, 2023-04-25)

#111

He should of got way more if it was anyone else they would have

Danielle Summey (Mendon , 2023-04-25)

#114

Crazy how if it were anyone else they would get a way harsher punishment. He should be setting a good example!

Kailey Malicki (Mendon, 2023-04-25)

#117

I feel he was not held accountable for his actions and being in the position he is in is a bad example.

Daniel Bates (Constantine , 2023-04-25)

#121

He bad

Leann Sayer (Three Rivers , 2023-04-25)

#124

We must have proper justice!

Jim & Suzanne Bellows (Constantine, 2023-04-25)

#125

This is unacceptable behavior. Especially because of the title he holds.

Amanda Tippett (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#127

NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW and if someone takes an oath to uphold the law and then makes the decision to break the law, their oath should be null and void and their position of power should be handed to someone who is deserving of that title!

Jessica bishop (Three rivers, 2023-04-25)

#128

I believe that Lilywhite has proven he is not responsible enough to be trusted to uphold the laws, since he has such a problem not breaking them himself. The county now has a vehicle to either repair or replace at our expence, not to mention the risk of lawsuit from the victime of his actions.

Mary Yung (Constantine, 2023-04-25)

#129

Our city officials should be held at a higher standard to set a good example.

April Van Aken (Three Rivers , 2023-04-25)

#130

Lillywhite is not capable of up holding the law. He's a total disgrace to our county.

Dianne Medford (White Pigeon, 2023-04-25)

#133

He was super drunk at 3xs the legal limit, a smack on the hand. It’s time he faces real consequences

Bethany Rhodes (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#135

Don't agree he should keep his job

Brandon Buehlman (Leonidas , 2023-04-25)

#136

It’s not okay! I know people in this county that have gotten a lot of time for just 1 of the things he did.. there shouldn’t be special treatment!

Brittney Racette (Burlington, 2023-04-25)

#140

He needs to step down and be removed from his position because he no longer is who we elected.

Marc Willma (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#143

He should be held to a higher standard.

Scott West (Colon, 2023-04-25)

#146

What he did wasn’t right or okay. Anybody else would have done prison time or more jail time.

Kelsea Walton (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#148

He is not worthy of the position he was elected to uphold! This is not his first offense.

Kimberly Mercer (Centreville , 2023-04-25)

#149

I feel he failed the citizens of St. Joseph County with his actions and is getting a slap on the wrist for it. No longer qualified to remain in office.

Naoma Irelan (White Pigeon, 2023-04-25)

#152

We the people have every right to demand this individual be removed from office after his gross negligence and blatant lack of regard for the laws in which he vowed to enforce himself.

Traci Phillips (Coldwater , 2023-04-25)

#153

This fool needs to be ousted from his job and serve some serious jail time for his display of incompetence while holding an official position and damaging County property. Also, how many more lives will he endager because he is an alcoholic? The Kalamazoo County prosecutor should also be removed for padding the charges

to favor the criminals reckless disregard for other human life.

Roxann Snow (THREE RIVERS, MI, 2023-04-25)

#154

He does not reflect the values of our community.

Jamie Lewis (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#155

This is wrong..he should lose everything just like a normal citizen would..PERIOD!
FIRE HIM NOW!!!

Faye Ganger (Bronson, 2023-04-25)

#157

He should not be able to work as a public official when he was driving drunk in city vehicle

Maria Krebs (Bronson , 2023-04-25)

#158

He is a official that should know better this also isn't his first offe se.

Leah Rugg (Bronson, 2023-04-25)

#160

I don't think he is fit for office

John Gavin (Three Rivers , 2023-04-25)

#161

He is a hypocrite! This is his 3rd dui offense. He refused testing when asked and played dumb jumping in the passenger seat and saying he didn’t know who was driving

Alyssa Lintz (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#162

I want to.

Kimberly Chapman (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#163

He should be accountable for his actions if we as citizens do the same crime the book would have been handed to us
. Because u wear a badge doesn't make u any better then us

Erin wilcox (Threerivers , 2023-04-25)

#164

He shouldn't get a light sentence for things, we would get worse . He could have killed someone , this isn't his first time, he is a habitual offender. Has been caught 3 times. That means he's done it at least a million without being caught.

Tiffany Straube (Jones, 2023-04-25)

#165

I do not want a sheriff that doesn’t hold himself above the law. I don’t care he has “family” issues. With integrity he would have handled himself better. His actions reflect his character.

Brenda Moore (Sturgis , 2023-04-25)

#168

He isn't any better than anyone else, because he's a police officer. He deserves the same as any other drunk driver would get

Vickie Rowe (Three Ricers, 2023-04-25)

#169

We need someone that will uphold the law instead of abusing his power. Someone that does not put other citizens at risk. He only ever gets a slap on the wrist when other citizens would get prison time. He should be held accountable for his actions and behavior same as anyone else. Someone in his position should be held to higher standards. I vote to remove him from office.

Joy Schlabach (Sturgis, 2023-04-25)

#170

Isn't justice. Just because he is the Sheriff doesn't mean he gets a slap on the wrist.

William Page (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#172

I live next to this county and I would like to keep my family safe. An officer driving drunk (almost 3 times the limit) in excess of 90 mph, with loaded weapons in the vehicle who then crashes that county-owned vehicle does not seem like the safety I would expect from law enforcement.

Tammaria Williams (Howe, 2023-04-25)

#174

How should we expect a man in his 40s to keep us safe, when he cant even keep himself safe!

Brooklyn Combs (Three Rivers, 2023-04-25)

#176

He needs to be fired for continuing to abuse his authority.

Amber Merritt (Sturgis, 2023-04-25)

#178

The justice system needs to change and those that do crimes need to get more than a slap on the wrist

Melissa Nelson (Marcellus, 2023-04-25)

#179

His position calls for a higher standard. One that he is not able to uphold. He is not a good role model for our children or our community at large.

Sabrina Rainwater (Constantine, 2023-04-25)

#183

I voted for Mark and I feel let down and he needs to be removed. He hasn't not up held his promises to us.

Tonya Cole (Constantine , 2023-04-25)

#184

Because he did not uphold His sheriff's duties

Scott Elder (Constantine , 2023-04-25)

#187

Wrong is wrong..and his presence on the force would only cripple the integrity of the whole unit!!

Racheal Skaggs (White Pigeon, 2023-04-25)

#188

If law enforcement doesn't obey the law, how can we expect the public to obey the law? Mark should have been fired immediately.

Raymond Miller (Burr Oak , 2023-04-25)

#189

We need a sheriff in this county that takes the job seriously. Mark Lillywhite is not that person.

Shelly Evilsizor (Constantine, 2023-04-25)

#193

He should step down as sheriff this job comes with responsibilities

Elton Hackenberg (Three Rivers , 2023-04-25)

#194

i want a sober sheriff an a new official to officiate this county

Sabrina Christman (three rivers, 2023-04-25)

#199

I don't feel like he represents the people of st joe County very well if at all with his actions and should get more than probation. He shouldn't have a job

Bambi Langon (Three rivers , 2023-04-26)
