The LamDel Residents Association and the residents of Ward 39 and Ward 35 and others in the greater City of Ekurhuleni, demand that the  Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality urgently address the collapse of service delivery in Lambton, Parkhill Gardens, Delville, Webber, Denlee, Germiston Lake and across Ekurhuleni.

We, the active citizens of LamDel and Ekurhuleni are united, we are tired of begging and asking, we are tired of waiting for action and hearing excuses from council and our political representatives and their failure to exercise oversight in respect of municipal affairs, service delivery and to represent this community's needs and best interests. We are not pawns in a political game and refuse to be held to ransom by political parties. We unite as active citizens, and we demand to get what we pay for, and we demand that the consequences of the lack of action and failures in council is addressed

Our suburbs are a disgrace, the area is falling into a dilapidated state. Illegal connections and illegal buildings are taking over and causing huge negative impact on our supply grids, we have submitted an illegal building and connections audit list to council, with no action being taken by our municipal officials, the  streetlights have been out for almost 3 years, once again, this RA has done several audits and submitted reports to the council, with empty promises and excuses being the only responses received. Sewage flows down our streets, water pressure is so low it might as well not flow, our reservoir upgrade project was started in 2019 and stopped just as quickly, now it is not even budgeted for, yet water supply is our constitutional right. Energy issues and power outages are totally out of control, and so the list continues.

Residents have been hit with over inflated non-sensical valuations and billed with hugely high rates, but service delivery has collapsed.  The most basic metro functions like finance and applications are a nightmare to deal with and sort issues out. Basic local government services are neglected.

By signing this petition, you will help LamDel RA to hold the mayor and the administration of Ekurhuleni Municipality to account for their failure to honour their Constitutional obligations to all ratepayers and residents. Your signature is your voice, speak up against the decline of our suburbs and Ekurhuleni, the blatant disrespect that residents and businesses are receiving from council leadership, the decline or rather collapse of service delivery, the ineptness of officials to communicate with residents and businesses, the maladministration, corruption, and the overall incapacity that is evident in the municipality.

Municipal officials must come out from behind their desks or wherever they find themselves, to explain to residents what precise steps will be taken to engage with us and to the remedial actions that will be taken to restore the delivery of effective and efficient municipal services. We expect the mayor to step up and admit his responsibility and accountability, we want to know who the accountable parties will be, in fixing the current state of collapse and what the timelines are.

Our political representatives must step away from electioneering words and campaigns, show us actual results on what you have achieved, not your attempts in trying.

This petition and a detailed letter outlining our demands will be served on the Speaker o Council for action and attention to the  Executive Mayor Mzwandile Masina and Gauteng Premier David Makhura. It will also be lodged with Parliament. LamDel RA is a registered non-profit, community initiative that was founded more than 5 years ago by residents, for residents and businesses.

Your personal information is required as part of the petition requirements to validate the signature and authenticity, it will be kept safe in accordance with POPIA standards and will only be shared with LamDel Chair and Vice Chair and as part of the petition submission.
