To allow kids in GPISD to continue wearing regular backpacks for the 24-25 school year

Grand Prairie ISD is passing a requirement for the next school year to wear clear or mesh backpacks, and to carry pouches for personal belongings that are no larger than 5.5 x 8.5. I find this requirement unhelpful and invasive, since as of now, we're always required to have our bags checked and go through a metal detector. I can only assume that they will replace inspecting bags with the clear bags, which is incredibly lazy and will not prevent school shooters or other forms of violence in the right way. Stronger and better gun laws should be put in place instead of the children being punished for the district's lack of security. I believe that with enough time in between the making of this petition and the first day of the 24-25 school year, we will be able to convince the district that we need to find a better way to deal with these problems, that doesn't hinder kids' expressiveness and privacy.
