COMMUNITY FIRST IN KINGSBRIDGE, DEVON

THIS PETITION HAS BEEN STARTED SO THAT SOUTH HAMS DISTRICT COUNCIL, HOUSING DEVELOPERS, LANDOWNERS AND THEIR AGENTS RECOGNISE THAT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY HAS HAD ENOUGH OF GREED AND A LACK OF TRANSPARENCY WHEN PLANNING NEW DEVELOPMENT.

We, the residents of Kingsbridge, wish to see new development that truly reflects what the community of Kingsbridge wants, and is delivered to reflect our aspirations - not profits over community!

There are three main areas we want a commitment to, in any new planning developmnent:

AFFORDBALE HOUSING - We demand a solid commitment to deliver 55% of new any development as affordable housing as set out by South Hams District Council. Based on other local developments it could be as low as 10% at Westville Hill (also known as K5).

LAND GRAB - The area agreed for new development at K5 Westville is currently being ignored by the Planning Consultants - they wish to increase the area of new developmnet - why - simply to increase profits. We think this amounts to a simple matter of grabbing what they can to maximise profits and further erodes the natural green belt of Kingsbridge.

TRAFFIC & CONGESTION - There has been scant consideration to the increase of traffic and enviromental damage a new build will bring on to the West Alvington Hill Road / West Alvington Village and the footpath that connects both areas. This will affect all residents of Kinsbridge, West Alvington, Salcombe and the connecting rural areas.

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! AS WE KNOW IF THE DEVELOPERS ARE LEFT TO GET AWAY WITH THIS AT ONE SITE, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO ABUSE THE RIGHTS OF OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY. STAND UP FOR KINGSBRIDGE AND YOUR COMMUNITY NOW!
