Stop illegal building contraventions in Ekurhuleni!

Throughout Ekurhuleni Ward 92, backyard dwellings are being built and rooms within residential properties are being sub-divided without either approved building plans or densification application. Despite reporting these contraventions to the building inspectorate, no feedback has been provided from either the building inspectorate or legal department on the progress being made in terms of Splum Bylaws to end these contraventions and/or apply relevant penalties as prescribed. Thus we the undersigned hereby demand, as a matter of urgency, petition the MMC for City Planning, Cllr. Ndosi Shongwe, and the MMC for Corporate & Shared Services, Cllr. Dora Mlambo, to provide monthly progress reports on each reported contravention together with timelines as applicable with regard to enforcement of City Planning Splum By laws.
