I was born in Raigmore 37 years ago, my mum was treated there when she had her car accident, I know alot of people who have been there! I think it is stupid to close beds down, it will be more expensive to send, fly, transport patients to Aberdeen or Glasgow!! This is why I have signed this petition! I am all for saving the beds in Raigmore, as I still ahve family that live in Aviemore!

I can't believe they actually think its acceptable to throw new mums out of a place of safety! This is absolutely disguisting!

It begins with single beds, then it will be a whole ward. How long until the decision will be made that we don't need a hospital at all? If we don't act now we might not get the chance again. Guaranteeing hospital care in the area where people actually live is paramount for a variety of reasons - psychological as well as economical ones. Reducing the number of beds available at Raigmore Hospital would mean a massive step back in time, and the consequences would be devastating for the entire region.

They want to close 10 beds in the stroke ward (2A), which is always full......where are these people meant to go....out in the community they say......yeh great, they will get all the treatment they need there.....NOT!!!!

Patients like to be near to home so that family can visit. Only in emergencies or for very specialised treatment should they be moved so far away. Petrol costs are now so high that travelling such distances should be avoided. Travel costs are already too high throughout the Highlands.

The outlying areas, such as Caithness & the Islands, that are serviced by Raigmore, are already in a postcode lottery as far as health services are concerned. This would surely make the matter worse.

That is sheer madness from where we live Inverness is a trek , Aberdeen or Glasgow would make it impossible for family or friends to visit. I thought the idea was to keep people in The Highlands b ut if the care services are not here then "The Clearances," will be nothing in comparison.

I was born in raigmore as was my husband and my son. My husband wouldn't be here if it wasn't for their care. We need this hospital and it is anutter disgrace to remove much needed beds. The expense of sending patients away is just apalling.

I cant beleive they are taking beds away from 2A, I was a petient not long ago, had a stroke and two brain operation, i was sent to aberdeen at the start for nearly two weeks then sent home to recover, must say if it wasnt for the staff and family visits. i hated it in aberdeen as never got visits or phone calls. how are you ment to recover when you think your on your own. I hate people who think they no it all when never been there themself. I will alway be there for 2A,

The other petition you mention is for closure of the maternity beds....but to honest the more petitions the better, as bed closures are happening everywhere in Raigmore and surrounding areas within NHS....this particular petition is just for "bed closures" in general.

Not only will there be a extra strain on families having to travel such long distances there will also be an extra strain on support services such as the ambulance service who may be called upon to transfer these patients.
Closing the beds solves nothing, it just moves "the problem" on and makes things worse in more ways than one.

I think Raigmore is very much needed hospital to close this down is putting patients lives at risk having them travel further for treatment

Do they really think there will be beds in Aberdeen and Glasgow? I doubt it, it's a regular occurance for ARI not to have beds with patients being transferred to Dundee or Edinburgh. It's more beds we need not less!

I have been in and out of raigmore a few times and had the best treatment even though the poor nurses are rushed off their feet. Well done xx
